I went for a run at 10:30pm. It was silent. In the dead streets, there were no cars, and no wind, just the cool air around me. As I ran, I looked up at the night sky and saw the full moon, illuminating the clouds around it. With this song playing in my earbuds, I picked up my pace, underneath the sacred moon. Kingdom Hearts is fiction. So in that moment, I was running in a world that never was
SpinyBluePuffball That was one of the most unintentionally hilarious dialogue exchanges in the series: Xemnas’s totally oblivious and tone deaf command to his mortal enemies to help him, and the way they almost sound like defiant children in their refusal.
*enters The World That Never Was for the first time* Me: "Well, fun's over. No more Disney worlds. It's time we get serious." Seriously, really didn't want this game to end :(
Stepping into this world for the first time was so surreal for me. Finally entering the world that was teased in Kingdom Hearts 1's Secret Ending, and finding out what lay ahead was awesome.
@@mr.awesome6011 Look up the Halo Reach OST tracks, "Overture" and "Noble Actual". This is just my speculation but I think the KH composer and Marty O'Donnell might have borrowed inspiration from the same place for their arrangements as they use a very similar percussion rhythm and even use the chime sound as well.
The song. It keeps switching between 3/4 for the vox and 6/8 time signature for the piano at 40 seconds, making it feel like a waltz dance and then giving a break for a moment before going back to the waltz. It makes it feel scary, yet you want to keep moving because you are trapped in a never ending dance. Top it off with a battle theme that starts off with war snares and an organ? Then a world that is in perpetual night with a looming heart moon? Perfect combination. I actually like KHII best because it focused more on the vocals to give it a more eerie feel
I honestly love this theme as a whole package, how each version has drastically different tones. Yeah there are a lot of remixes in this series but this one I think is one of the only ones to have remixes and you can actually feel what it's trying to convey. Like this one is a beautiful theme but still has a sense of danger and mystery to it reflecting the world itself, beautiful but mysterious and dangerous. The one in 358 is a place you call home so the theme is more calming and soothing, not really much of a sense of danger since there is none yet. And last but not least my favorite one, mystic moon, is a theme where you realize the place you once called home actually really sucks and it's really a place of deception and filled with dangerous people, so it really amps up the danger factor in the theme. That's my take on what the themes represent and I love it.
@@sekrion9506 my guess is that the arrangement with the bongos is really popular or maybe Marty heard it in his circle of composer friends and really liked it cause when Reach came out that was a whole console generation after KH2.
Perfect theme to listen too while you're either driving on the highway or walking by yourself down the road on a cool fall/winter night with a full moon of course.
"Oh, my Kingdom Hearts... ruined... Now, I'll have to start all over again..." "Warriors of the Keyblade... Go forth, and bring me more hearts!" "No!" "Denizens of the light, answer this. Why do you hate the darkness?" "Aw, we don't hate the dark. It's just kinda... scary. But the world's made of light and darkness. Ya can't have one without the other, cause darkness is half of everything. Sorta makes you wonder why we are scared of the dark." "It's because of who's lurking inside it." "Then allow me another question. You accept darkness, yet choose to live in the light. So, why is it that you loathe us who teeter on the edge of nothing? We, who were turned away by both light and dark, never given a choice?" "That's simple. It's because you mess up our worlds." "That may be. Yet, what other choice might we have had?" "Just give it a rest! You're Nobodies! You don't even exist. You're not sad about anything!" "Very good. You don't miss a thing. I cannot feel... sorrow, no matter what misery befalls the worlds."
@@EbonyWildCard after the battle xemnas: I need more rage I need more hearts Sora: xemnas there's more to a heart than rage it full of all sorts of emotions don't you remember? xemnas:.....unfortunately I don't Me: damn bro
I love how Xemnas basically finished his thought by telling them "I physically could not give less of a fuck how much pain I've caused you, or the countless others."
Best climax I have ever seen in any video game. The World That Never Was was perfectly designed for its intended purpose, in its design and everything.
This would fit PERFECTLY in a D&D campaign when the heroes are e plowing an ancient city, long abandoned by those who lived there, with ancient machinery rivaling the advances in the modern world. Such an alien, but local, world, that it conflicts your mind of where you are.
Me who is currently doing a DnD campaign with a friend: "My, what an idea! Why did I never thought of that?" Jokes aside, that's a brilliant idea! I'll keep it on mind
God, idk I love that deep hum. It sounds so sublime and omnipotent. Such is the feeling of being on an enemy controlled world that you don't fully understand.
The first version I heard of this song was in 358/2 Days (thought I'd play Roxas' story before playing KH2.) Needless to say, when I heard this version in KH2 I thought, "Oh MAN, this new beat is SICK." It was a welcome surprise.
When I got to this part of the game I got instantly hit by this banger of a song and I had to immediately look it up and add it to my video game music playlist
This whole final level is like star wars 1.look at the gumi mission to twilight town it looks exactly like star wars 2. here comes darth mual wannabe with his to light sabers
Saix and Marluxia are the two of the Organization (Xemnas/Terranort's Nobody notwithstanding of course) I thought were great! The rest of the Organization were annoying and bland. Sora, Ventus, Aqua, Kairi and Riku are probably my go-to KH original characters simply because of just how well they were handled and portrayed. Terra was an annoying dumbass Anakin Skywalker rip-off. It didn't help with Keyblade users being Jedi and Sith instead of Warriors of Light and Darkness (to use Final Fantasy vernacular) like they were sort of portrayed. In other words, characters chosen by light and/or darkness (FFIII anyone?). Also, Axel/Lea is just Reno from FF7. It's only fitting Quinton Flynn voices both in English.
When I first heard this music in KH2, I went, "Isn't that song from Days? Yes, it is! Wow!" 358/2 Days being my first game, it blew my younger mind to see games in a series have these kinds of links between them, it was something that I had seen only in Zelda ^ ^`
@@LordMalice6d9 KH3 was literally just spam attack over and over. Nothing can even come close to killing you. There's no rhyme or reason to the combat, no incentive to use any sort of tactics. It sucked. And the story? It was practically filler, with Sora stepping in to Gary Stu the place up and resolve storylines built up over the course of several games in a matter of minutes in the final hours. It sucked. Anyone who liked that garbage has no taste in games whatsoever.
I'm replaying the mainline games rn and I've been WAAAAAAITING to get to TWTNW so I could hear this bad boy for the first time since I was like 12...... I made it :')
I almost feel like if they start a whole new Kingdom Hearts story they should drop Disney. After recently playing all of the original content in Kingdom Hearts truly made the game memorable with its characters, music, worlds. My favorite moments are from all of the original stuff taking place outside of the Disney worlds even though I really loved most of the Disney worlds. I just feel like without Disney there could be some really awesome stuff in it that they normally wouldn't be allowed to do with a Disney partnership. Just my idea. Wouldn't mind either way
Two things will hold that down: 1. Disney has partial ownership of Sora and co. So long as they feel they can milk the franchise and Tetsuya Nomura keeps asking to make more KH Games, Disney will push in their own content, including perhaps more Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars stuff in the future. 2. While I know KH has it's diehard fans, the series will likely not sell as many copies if they drop Disney Worlds altogether. And I'd rather the series keep going on it's current trajectory instead of dying an unfair death because of the lack of Sora teaming up with another Disney Character
@@TheNMan64 Most of the people I know wont touch the Kingdom Hearts series, cuz they think its a game made for kids. The argument I always hear is, "but it includes disney characters, how can this game be exciting to you isn't it made for kids?". In my opinion the series would have had more potential and a larger amount of players if disney werent involved at all.
@@Ria588 I mean Mario and Sonic were designed as “kids games” yet have some badass cool shit, especially with Sonic. Just cuz it’s primary demographic happens to align with E or E10+ doesn’t mean it’s some sappy happy game.
Well no bloody wonder I couldn’t find it- Galaxy Brain naming right there Though no complaints about the song itself. Listening while I type and it’s beautiful and ominous and tragic all at once. Thank you so much for the track name I greatly appreciate it
@@JyujinPlus No problem! Like I said, I went through the same experience as you, so I thought I'd lend a hand. I also agree that it's very big brain naming, but it at least makes sense, given Kingdom Hearts having a trend of naming songs after who/what they're literally for (i.e Roxas, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and I think Kairi and Riku).
@@ZacSonicMee And of course Sora himself. And Xehanort too. These themes are what we call "leitmotifs". Leitmotif means a _recurring_ musical or literary theme, associated with a certain person, place, idea, or situation. That's why it's commonplace to name them after what they're representing. Take for example, the themes we've mentioned. They're named after those characters because they are specifically tied to the character in question. Same with the Organization's theme. It doesn't have to be named after it, but it's common practice, and one that makes it quite easier to distinguish each leitmotif.
I always get to lvl 99 once i hit this stage anybody who is playing this you just have to run through the whole stage from start to finish and everytime you make it to the final door jump in your gummi ship and start over at the beginning and SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS LVL UP EVERYTIME FOR REAL I FIGURED THIS OUT YEARS AGO.
There’s way better ways to level up doing that would take like a whole month to get to max level when there’s strays to get to max level in like 2 and a half hours
Super Smash Bros. Finale: Kingdom Hearts Newcomers: Ansem, Kairi, and Riku Kingdom Hearts New Stages: The World That Never Was, Destiny Islands, and Twilight Town Kingdom Hearts New Bosses: Darkside, Twilight Thorn, and World of Chaos
The Chronicles of Kingdom Hearts: Vexen's Notes Organization XIII's Knights of Cerebus: Number VIII, Raxyn, The Angel of Death, The Nobody of Rainer Raxyn's weapons are a scythe called Righteous Judgment and a book called Reaper's Tome. Raxyn was found by members Saix and Axel in The Realm of Darkness, seemingly scarred, but sleeping peacefully on The Dark Margin. Raxyn often goes on solo missions to different worlds to eliminate corrupt politicians, celebrities, criminals, and other perceived "sinners." Amusingly, Luxan also tags along unannounced to many of these missions. The boy is often too deep in his own angst, emotionlessness, and religious fervor to understand why. Despite being a Nobody like the rest of us, Raxyn still seems to have enough sense of self to follow a major religion from his home world, Chicago of Earth, and aside from the standard organization attire, almost always sports a mysterious crucifix hanging around his neck. Said crucifix glows when grabbed and can be used to enter a power state similar to that of Saix's beserk mode. I have dubbed this mode, "crucible state". In terms of actual appearance, Raxyn has shoulder-length jet black hair, blood red eyes, slightly pointed ears, slightly elongated canines, and palish skin. His age seems to be around 18-20 years old and he has a fairly sullen demeanor despite his zeal for his religion, although perhaps that may be the only thing he truly cares for anymore... Raxyn's elemental ability classification seems to amount to "holiness." When fighting an enemy, they will be put under an invisible "sin gauge", which determines how much damage the boy's scythe, Righteous Judgment does. His book, The Reaper's Tome, seems to function similar to a device from a certain world of detectives and investigations... Anyone whose name is written in the Tome can be tracked across almost all worlds and realms. Amusingly enough, some pages of the Tome also contain pages from his world's religious texts as well as pages from his favorite literature. In terms of how this "holy" ability seems to look to a layman, think of heavenly white, light blue, and gold colored flames. Last but certainly not least, despite the boy's rather sullen personality, like the rest of us, he likes to open a battle with a saying. Raxyn, when opening a battle: "Your sins are too far, and your sins are too great. You shall be judged for eternity without end, amen."
best end game zone ever in the series. truly has that heavy ambience you'd expect. the first game'a end zone just seems... overdone... to a degree. just my small opinion.
KH 3 style world title: Darkclouds with thunder the heart shaped moon appears, zooms out as the castle is shown rising, camera continues to zoom to reveal memories skyscraper as it starts to rain, zooms out more to the city as the nobody thorns grow and the title appears. THE WORLD THAT NEVER WAS
