Hello, thank you for all this work, our thanks are nothing and cannot be enough for such work, this world that many people have been waiting for will come to life and only thanks to you and your team, we cannot offer anything. moreover, this project will change forever kingdom hearts 3, a project of a gigantic scale, this unique world can alone be bigger than several worlds put together in games. for fans of final fantasy, for fans of kingdom hearts, for fans of modding, it's a huge support that I/we thank you this is awesome im crying 😭😭

Thank you very much for the kind words, I'm glad you appreciate it and that it means a lot to you! I however don't have a "team", for now I'm working mostly alone on this, so it's taking quite a while. I did get help by people when I was stuck on something and asked questions on how to do specific things, people in the KH discord modding community teached me a lot of things that I didn't know regarding the KH tools so I for sure wouldn't be there without them, and this project also wouldn't be possible without Kizari's modding tool for FF XV (flagrum), but in general now it's just me handling the project and expanding the map in blender, so I don't really want you to except something huge made by a whole team, you might be disappointed lol I do hope to get more help when it will come to scripts and other custom things in Unreal Engine though because I will need it, as I don't have the experience on how to do a lot of things there.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for making this! Seriously, you have no idea how much this mod has blown my mind. It's like a dream come true to explore Insomnia in KH3. Yes! I had to recreate it from scratch since none of it still exists in the game outside of the outside lod model. How much progress would you say you've made, percentage-wise?

It's really hard to say. Most of the work I've done so far is actually in Blender and not in Unreal Engine. These unreal engine scenes are only temporary test scenes I make (which still take a while to setup, that's why I don't update the build very often). The way I work on this project is that I'm building the map in Blender, with a different scene for each district, and when I make a test scene in unreal, I import these blender scenes into unreal. Once in Unreal Engine though, I can't really do as many modification, especially since I'm modeling a lot of stuff myself, it's not possible to go back and forth between the two, so for now I mostly focus on finishing the maps in Blender, until I have a final version that I'm satisfied with, and then I will import it in Unreal in an actual definitive project where I'll finally be able to fully focus the progress inside Unreal Engine. With all that said, if I have to make some estimation, given what I still want to do, I'd say maybe 70 to 80% for the blender part, depending on what I keep adding. After that will come the work on a definitive unreal engine scene, where I will have a lot of things to figure out and learn, like how adding pedestrians inside the map, script specific events etc... And I really can't give an estimation on this, since it's unknown territory for me.

@@Larxia Speaking of districts how seamless is the map going to be? A single map with hidden loading is the natural assumption, but I wouldn't be surprised if that assumption was ultimately incorrect. Also I know what you mean by "script specific events", but man it'd be crazy if you included a story element. I just imagine a new take on the Episode Ardyn where Insomnia has to deal with an invasion of heartless on top of Ardyn running wild.

@@vadandrumist1670 My plan is to make it completely seamless with no limitation at all within the outside boundaries of the level. To be more clear, there will be some barriers on the edges of the map, because obviously I can't make it go on forever, but everything inside of that will be 100% open with no invisible wall. I want to provide a complete freedom, this is why I also had to expand and remodel a lot of things. If you look at my post history in the community tab of my profile, I shared several infos about that. For example, I really wanted for people to have a full freedom around the citadel, and even be able to climb to the very top of it, but the original map isn't meant for that, so you have very low resolution objects at the top, and more importantly, there's actually nothing behind the citadel, it's only very low resolution background, so I had to remake these areas so they wouldn't look bad from the new places I allow players to reach. I also had to rework the sides and the back of the citadel, because they're originally just flat low resolution objects, since you're not supposed to see them from this perspective. All of this is a lot of work, but I really want to provide a big sense of freedom in this city we've all been dreaming about for so long. Here is what the playable area should be like, red is out of bounds, clear is explorable: i.imgur.com/xzdWbpl.png This also obviously required a lot of optimization, I spent entire days optimizing each district, to merge objects in a way to reduce the amount of total individual objects, but keep the same level of detail, this help reduces the draw call and improve performances for the engine, because there are "less" objects to load. I also merged them in a way too use camera occlusion in the best way, so you have less objects, but they can still be unrendered when outside of the camera. Some districts for example had a total of 10k objects, which I reduced to about 1k. It's things like merging a whole building together instead of it being 50 different individual meshes, or a group of tree, or a group of benches etc together, while having them still not too far apart because otherwise camera occlusion culling wouldn't work, because if there is an element of an object still visibile in the camera, the whole object is rendered. I'm not sure if it's all clear, sorry if it's confusing 😆 I also included a Culling Distance Volume, and when I optimized the scene, I added a value to specific objects that I thought could be unloaded after some distance, so this also helps with performance, there will be some pop in, but if that's the price to pay for a complete freedom with good performances, I think it's okay. It's not too bad don't worry, but there will be some objets on rooftops etc that will only load when you get closer, I did that so it keeps a 60 fps even when flying above the map. For now I have a steady 60 fps with a GTX 1080 and a Ryzen 7 3700x. The gpu is running between 30 and 60% at 1080p depending on the location. For the story, oh I have actually written a whole story setup with different scenes for it, but I don't think I'll be able to make them, this probably requires a lot of knowledge that I don't have, so I can't promise anything on this, but I would like to, for sure.

@@Larxia Now that's something above and beyond the call of duty, I applaud your ambition and wish you the best of luck in realizing it. I'd recommend putting a snippet of that at the end of the or in the trailer, a few lines of AI dialogue or something. Just be careful not to spoil 80-90% of it like they did with KH3 proper. If the story aspect ends up falling through please make a community post linking to a document about what could've been.

@@vadandrumist1670 Thank you, I really appreciate how interested you are in this project! If I can't make it, I'll share the infos on what it would have been, for sure. Maybe, if I can't do it inside the mod, I will make a story trailer about what it would be, with a disclaimer that it's a bonus thing for the release of the mod but not something actually in the mod, I'm not sure, it's complicated to decide on such thing, you don't know how people might react, I don't want to lead to false hopes. The story I have set up is nothing too crazy though, but it's more like a clear timeline of the events that would happen. About the AI dialogue, you know what, I was thinking about this very recently, I'd like to add a few lines in my trailer to add some lore atmosphere, but I have no idea what people use to make these AI voices, I guess I need to look into that.

Very good mod! BUT... That you would like to wait a little longer before taking it out and adding mechanics such as having missions scattered around the map as well as a main mission? I think that would be a good idea.

I think you can imagine that I already thought about this obviously. I have a lot of ideas about what I would like to do story wise, but it's just way, way more complicated than you might imagine, with barely any documentation on how to do such thing, so I'm really not sure about what I might be able to do.

@@bandogamer9256 I will finish it, because I can't give up after so much time already invested in it... but it's really hard, tiring, frustrating, overwhelming, there are times where I feel like giving up. I will finish it for sure, I'm not sure in what state though, I want for it to be as polished as possible, but you should give up on what you mentionned in your first post like story missions etc... No one in the KH modding community made such stuff, there's no documentation at all on how to do such things, and I'm really completely lost working on this alone, so most of the things you mentionned don't seem possible. I'm facing so many walls all the time, I sometimes almost want to cry out of exhaustion / frustration when I'm stuck 🙃 I hope I will be able to deliver something in a good quality, but probably not on the scale of what you're expecting sadly, I don't have the tools, the documentation, the knowledge etc to do something like this.

For my part it makes me a little angry, not for you, the fact that it cannot be modded the way I would like, I would even tell you to take much and much more time for the community to get documentation (which I doubt) of how to modify the game, but if it is impossible, there will be no other option than to gradually finish the map, leave it polished and upload it to the community On behalf of all (I think) I will tell you that it is a fabulous job that you are doing for the fans of HK, I ask you not to take it so seriously and take your breaks and take your time doing it, we can wait for more. Well, if someone decide to port it then yes, there's no universal answer if something is possible or not lol The issue with FF X though is that it was designed for fixed camera angles, I'm sure if you take a free camera in these environments, they are full of holes, unfinished places etc because they were only meant to be viewed from one angle, so it would have to be remade / expanded.
