Local knowledge pays off for William Lloyd and family who were at Mangonui Wharf at 5am catching live baits and fishing for kingies. This was the second serious hook up William had. The first Kingie busted him off on the pylon.
and yea thats me catching that fish and hav been catching kingies off that wharf since i woz 9yrs old im 32 in that video,and the reason y this is one of the only places in aotearoa that ppl can come and catch fish like this is because we as ngatikahu hapu try our best to control the take rate!!! I caught 3 that day and only kept the 1 u see in the vid,and just in case your wandering i cut the other 2 loose instead of gaffing them,so hwz that for plastic u fried egg!!!
