What a perfect way to reveal Kingpin. I was afraid we'd get the same kind of cliff hanger ending in the series finale, having him as a final minute cameo, but having him here in the 5th episode was great!

To be fair, most of the Netflix shows take place BEFORE the blip chronologically. So they don’t really have to reference the blip and could easily soft reboot them.

I would explain it like this during the blip daredevil was erased and Fisk was acquitted of his charges. And since the world was grieving he was able to quick grow to power making him even more of problem to stop.

Right. I feel like you have to do either only Daredevil Season 1 is canon, or Daredevil Season 3 is canon, which means The Defenders and everyone else is.

It's simple Daredevil got erased during the blip after Thanos used gauntlet. And during this time without Spiderman or Daredevil - Kingpin reached the comics book heights. They can use it to justify personality changes for all Netflix characters.

Everything on Netflix was decent but Iron Fist! Beyond the main character wasn’t asian, the martial arts was horrid. Why Netflix did a season 2 was beyond me.

Seeing Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio back in character is the only thing MCU-related that I've been remotely excited about. I loved how understated, realistic and gritty their performances were and I think it's where the MCU needs to go if it wants to evolve.

I've recently went back and watched all of the marvel Netflix series, and my two favorites were Punisher and Daredevil by far. My #1 being Punisher. I can see how it would be easier to adapt Daredevil than Punisher, but I think they should do Punisher like Deadpool and make him R because he deserves it. I think King Pin was a great villain who was also incredibly acted. I'm so excited to see these characters be brought over to the MCU, because the series' are all great and overlooked, especially those 2.

@@eddysandland58 start with daredevil seasons 1 and 2, then punisher (season 2 is optional, as in the order), then Jessica Jones seasons 1 and 2, Luke Cage season 1, defenders, DD S3, Jessica Jones season 3, Iron Fist season 2 and then Luke Cage season 2. Iron fist season 1 was awful with the second being slightly better which is why I didn’t put S1 there. But if you insist then ig watch iron fist S1 after Luke Cage

In the MCU the Helicarrier Nick Fury receive during Age of Ultron was given to him by Agent Coulson and at that point in MCU timeline Agents of Shield was indeed still Cannon and was directly interconnected with the MCU

Considering that Daredevil was always explicitly set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I would actually assume that Kingpin was there all along but below the pay grade of the Avengers. (If Vanessa blipped that could be why he’s out of prison)

Seeing as how they are more localized heroes and villains, you could absolutely do the “always there”. They cleaned up the streets while the avengers level heroes cleaned up the world.

There are moments that I would have thought were "avengers level threat" though, such as Defenders or the big death cloud thing that happened in Agents of shield, things like the Inhumans in AOS would complicate things too! So the fact none of that got acknowledged by shield or the avengers wouldn't make a whole lot of sense

Also the MCU films do reference the TV shows, The Helicarrier was repaired via the Theta Protocol from Agents of SHIELD and is indirectly mentioned by Fury. Loki’s Scepter was located because of info relayed by Coulson to Maria Hill who was then working for Stark.

i dont think theyll reboot any daredevil stuff, maybe rebooting some of the other shows, but they can easily explain kingpins return with him surviving the blip and using the chaos to escape a prison transport or smth

Not for nothing all of the Netflix series made references to at least the first Avengers movie. Calling the Chitauri fight "The Incident" so it is not entirely implausible that they could be in stuff then.

4:11 Single Exception: Agent Carter WAS one to have been actually worked on slightly by Kevin & some other MCU writers tho which facilitated it’s connection into the MCU with Jarvis’s character ( same Actor ) into Endgame

I think its a 4th option. Technically canon, but not acknowledged beyond basic character dynamics. Everything in daredevil happened, but they will shift the tone to a more mcu friendly and won't really take the daredevil plot backward other then general/broad things. I don't think they want to wipe it from Canon because there is such good character development in those 3 seasons that it would be a shame to just wipe it clean.

The easiest course with the Netflix shows is not to over explain. They were always there...their stories are Familia enough and work in the mcu...but maybe not the exact version we watched. Lightly mentioning their history but fresh stories that don't need to lean on the old. This honestly offers options for anything they want or don't want to use again.

John Barrella Nahh the MCU has always been smart with these things. I think they would set the Netflix shows aside and let things flow without them. Besides, they can obviously choose to do a soft reboot which would be much better than trying to mix in the Netflix universe and the MCU universe. It would be too hard.

They'll probably just imply that the shows are canon without confirming it. So we the audience who's watched the shows can hold it canon that they happened, and those who didn't can simultaneously hold it as not Canon. From there altering as little as possible so we know the characters from the shows at least have a very similar story.

And the sad thing about all this is that if Disney takes these series they will immediately lose all the mojo that they made of these good series, the brutality of them. Daredevil and Kingppin smashing their faces like there's no tomorrow until they are almost defaced with furniture, Punisher killing 100 people for breakfast on a Sunday morning, Jessica throwing people off the roof of a building.

Yeah the actor that played the main character cole in mortal combat would've been a much better choice. He auditioned for it and even got an appearance as the drunk fighter that almost whooped danny. Its cool he got a major role in MK though

I dunno, I like to think that the kingpin and daredevil, as well as the other netflix marvel shows were all from another universe, much like Andrew and Tobeys spidermen were from other universes. Even though its the same looking Kingpin and Daredevil now in the MCU universe, its really different versions of them. Im happy with that.

I feel like the easiest explanation is to just treat the Netflix series as an alternate universe from the main MCU. Allowing for the inclusion of characters like Kingpin and Daredevil (with their established actors) to appear without having to to any narrative gymnastics about how nobody seems to remember the very public outing of Wilson Fisk as Kingpin, or the existence of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Also it gives them a big opportunity to do some repair work on characters like Iron Fist and Hellcat who were done dirty by their respective Netflix series.

not Alternate, Loeb and Feige didn't like each other, so they kept the connections between the versions of media loose. Now that Feige has full reign, he can do whatever, and with Murdock and Fisk showing up in the MCU, its tying everything together. When Barton was Ronin, he went after street level threats and criminal organizations, the Avengers wouldn't waste their time with that considering they spent most o their time trying to stomp out Hydra then cosmic level shit. The only reason the netflix shows got cancelled was a power move from Netflix due to clauses in contracts. if they canned the shows disney/marvel couldn't use those characters in certain medias for a few years. This was caused by the emergence of Disney+ since at the time, Netflix housed most of disneys animated film catalog, Marvel movies etc. Smart play by Netflix.

I feel like the netflix shows (especially daredevil) are just so good that I don't think they could make something as good as seasons 1-3, I think it would be much better to say that they've been there this whole time and to expand their stories rather than reboot them

That's not simple though. There's elements in the shows' continuity that contradict MCU canon, such as the Inhumans existing despite not actually existing in the MCU, Thanos' Snap happening despite never actually happening in Agents of Shield, as well as Shield publicly coming back despite having never came back in the MCU. The Marvel Television shows can't _fully_ mesh with the MCU, because it's always been distinct from the MCU despite trying to say and act otherwise.

Maybe like Sony showed in Spiderman : Into The Spiderverse, the characters might have been pushed into the past or the future, we also saw it in Loki that from one point it all happens together so if the multiverse opened and the other people spread out they would end up in different years.

Soft reboot doesn’t mean to contradict the continuity before it. It means the exact opposite. Accept the continuity but soft reboot the character so that anyone can jump in and understand what’s happening at this point in time. Example: God of War 2018

As much as I miss the Netflix series, a soft reboot would make more sense than the "always there but unseen" scenario because it'd be really weird seeing characters like Wilson Fisk suddenly acting all PG for no reason.

to me, i really am not that fond of the soft reboot path. i feel like what we got from the netflix daredevil, as well as jessica jones and luke cage, was extremely well done. i would love to see those characters continue on. they were so developed and well fleshed out that i feel like a soft reboot would just mean retreading old stories, and honestly probably doing them worse than they were done on netflix (save for iron fist). i think the best path would be for them to continue the characters set up by the netflix shows.

They could do an even narrower line between soft reboot and always there with up to viewers imagination basically what the suicide squad did if u didn’t like the old suicide squad you can just pretend it never happened and those who enjoyed the old one they give a small hint the fact it does exist. They could just have a very small nod to the Netflix shows but never actually confirming or denying that the Netflix shows ever in the mcu

Daredevil might be one of the only netflix shows that could go with the always there path and easily pull it off. None of it's events are major enough to interfere with the MCU as a whole at all.

Agent Carter was confirmed to be 100% Canon in the "story of marvel studios" book, so I'd say it's likely that they could just make the Netflix shows canon aswell rather than some weird multiverse thing

The old MCU series were always canon... They were made to be in the same universe and marketed as such, while Feige and others have confirmed this many times. Why so many MCU fans and RU-vidrs still have trouble wrapping their heads around this is a mystery to me.
