Wow you have a string of budget printers that are really pretty good for the money. There should be a lot more young engineers in 2023. Thank You so much. Great Job. Dennis
Great video. You and your brother put so much effort into every video. Your evaluation is unbiased, even though you get the review units for free. Pure professionalism. Looking forward to the next video. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate. May 2023 be filled with much better things than 2022 was. although I did manage to buy 5 new 3D printers for my business.
I installed marlin to mine and it made EVERYTHING so much easier. The stock firmware sucks, but once you get marlin on it, it's great. Even mesh leveling is better.
I am surprised that they did not send you the all linear rails version to review. IMHO, linear rail on Z is crucial too. As the rubber wheels will some times hit a "bump" in every rotation, that might be because of the low quality bearing inside. On my elegoo neptune 2s I often have Z bandings that are 72mms apart, due to the low quality wheels. The wheels are 25mm in OD, and the part that touches the rail is slightly narrower than 25mm, giving a 72mm diameter.
As far as i know it's supposed to come out in february. To be honest, i don't think loosing 15mm in Z is such a big problem. One could probably fix it with a few printed parts as well.
thanks for all your reviews. I actually like using Kingroon filament I hadn't realised, I needed some black and when I looked at the last spool which had been good before ordering, it was Kingroon
I am new to 3d printing and while researching best choices, I found your channel and it's awesome, unbiased and professional. Thank you for your efforts, Merry Christmas, good luck with your work, and looking forward to see more reviews.
First mode, Fit a silicon sock to the hot end. KP3s was naked and wasting heat out the box. I will say though, The only issue mine gave was a stripped thread on the Z coupling so the bed wouldnt rise, After a quick check over That screw was replaced with one 5mm longer and everythings been printing nicely. This little beauty prints well, Faultless benchy (apart from the seem, that i could have lost in the slicer. Well worth a go.
For the money it seems pretty great I think it actually makes sense to use it on xz, y probably needs two and z has leverage on it. The bed issues are a shame tho
I have 2 issues with this review: 1. No mention of ringing 2. ABS needs an enclosure, and printing ABS open frame results in bad fumes and bad layer adhesion. But aside from these issues, I think this review is good.
Great review. I recently got the S1 from Sliceworx. Same experience with heating and leveling. I also moved the filament up top, with modified roller holder, but haven't moved the sensor yet. I'm not a fan of the glass bed. (I already ruined it, removing a print pulled the finish off, haha.) I don't get the point of those tnuts, but whatever, it works.
Great Review. I am just wondering whether it is comparable to ender. Please share you thought about whether should I choose ender over this in similar price range
Did you encounter any difficulties in installing y linear rails? Mines arrived wobbled and also the aluminium bars where not straight... At the end solved with 2 rubber rings between the new plate and the y Rails.
Hi I have been following you for a long time and I find your reviews excellent and useful and today I wanted to ask you to give me your 3D printer preference for 2023 thanks
@AuroraTech.... Question for you 2. I was thinking of buying a PrusaMini+ but after watching your video I was thinking of maybe getting this printer. Considering I can buy 2 of the Kingroon KP3S Pro S1 for about the same price as the PrusaMini+, Would you say it is a better overall deal to pick up 2 of these? I would like to slowly build a print farm and these look like they might be a good fit. What is your opinion ? TIA and keep up the great videos you 2.
This printer is good and fun to play with if you have some experience to fix minor issues and know how to avoid the buggy firmware. But if you want to build a print farm, something like the Ender-3 S1(or S1 Pro), Ender-5 S1 that requires no tinkering or additional upgrades would be a more reliable option.
What was buggy? The motherboard or the firmware? How about adding insulation to the heated bed? What new features did the firmware update offer? Do you think it's possible to use a text based screen instead of the graphical one?
Man I always look forward to your reviews! Before I buy a printer your my go to and I always suggest everyone who wants to get into printing to check out your channel! Also Merry Christmas! If you don't celebrate Christmas sorry and Happy Holidays ❤️
Shame about the heat bed. Is the power supply weak maybe? I ordered one for 205€ start of December on their webpage, with Y-upgrade and PEI. They said they send the Y-upgrade and PEI sheet from China, which i though wasn't a problem. The Printer itself was supposed to come from an European warehouse. They don't seem to react to my messages and haven't sent me any updates since. I'll soon start a Paypal dispute. I wish this would be something RU-vidrs would talk about. Having the printer isn't all, it's also customer support, ordering, payment and people you can contact if something goes wrong.
Thank you for an amazing review! I have a KP3S and I'm interested in this one. One question: would it be possible to add the E3D Revo system to this printer? You say the hotend is a modified V6, so I'm not sure if the Revo Six would work there. What do you think? Thanks again!
Is this printer not running Marlin? Since it is mentioned to run a board similar to the MKS Robin Nano, I would have expected it to be fairly easy to build a custom Marlin for it with all the options you want. Or ... add a Pi Zero 2W and Klipper (probably making the screen useless, but getting so much in return and controlling it via your smartphone.
I have a feeling with the limited knowledge I have with upgrades and such I should steer clear of this one and stick with some others you have reviewed at a little higher cost. Btw idk if its a different mic but it sounds like you may have been under the weather lately? If thats the case I hope you are feeling better.
My gripe with their printers is you always have to upgrade something. In my case, their KP5S didn't come with an auto bed leveling. I think Auto leveling is a requirement for large bed printers. I had to install it, and update the firmware which wasn't easy to find btw. And now my screen goes blank during printing and I can't access the menu during the print. I have to reboot the machine after each project. This is so annoying. I'm seeing the same issue with this KP3S pro.... For a machine that uses the word "PRO", I would've imagined the rails were already upgraded to linear. Magnetic Bed would've been nicel. Auto bed leveling would be good, but not necessary for a small bed. However, buying all these upgrades, it would cost me around $300 total. So instead, I bought a different printer with all those things I wanted for $300 and I don't have to mess with it.
Fair enough. But i think you don't need to upgrade. She was able to print a benchy without any updates. If you have a glass bed, ABL isn't really needed i think, regardless of the size. Once dialed in, it works until you change the print surface or location of the printer. PRO is just a marketing word. These machines are not made with European or US quality standards in mind, the end stop screws for example wouldn't fly here. A Company that does it's business like that would perish soon. If you want quality, you have to pay the price and go to Prusa, Ultimaker or someone like that. The rails are just a gimmick, in my mind they aren't better or worse than OpenBuild rollers.
@@citronski I prefer the rails. It doesn't necessarily make the prints better, but the maintenance is simpler. My old CR-10 and Ender 2 had the rollers, and i always get paranoid that the screws will loosen and start to wobble. And they seem to wear down faster than the rails from my observation. Glass beds work okay, but I prefer the magnetic bed. I don't have to wait for the bed to cool down to remove prints. If the glass had a consistently even surface, then i would probably use that over magnetic beds. When I first bought my K3PS. I really loved it. Small, accurate, and durable especially for the price. I expected that they up their game with the newer K5PL and K3PS Pro, but it doesn't seem like it's any better. I'll gladly pay the extra $$$ for properly upgraded versions.....
Before Bambu Lab exists, I might, but now, I don't think it is worth the time and money to build it when you can get something that even better for less money.
@@jeffreyepiscopo I agree, ABL is nice if you change build plates or location often, neither of which is my use case. No need for ABL really. I also like the older 12864 RepRap displays more than touch screen.
Pretty disappointing number of QA issues. I get that it's a $200-250 printer, but basic stuff like bad filament path and bed heating failures make it feel more like a refurb Ender 3, in terms of experience, if not worse.
This. Chinese can't do quality. Look at this, look at Bambu Lab X1. I'm not sure why, but i have yet to see a company that offers European or US quality.
@@citronski what's the problem with the X1? Heard of Kickstarter backers getting flaky units, but that they fixed those hardware issues once they hit mass production. I know the software for the X1 has been a disaster, though.
@@theglowcloud2215 You have to tinker to keep them running and that is a nogo if you need them for production. We have 5 of which 3 are down as we speak, waiting for replacement parts. We learned a lesson: If you need to rely on 3D printers to meet any kind of deadline, skip China made printers.
