Great review! Agree 100%: they're all delicious. Kudos to you for choosing a favorite; like my children, they're all special and unique in their own ways. FYI, Batch 17 was a 2nd 2023 batch, released in December, which means we'll get a Batch 18 in Spring 2024! Here's the explanation and tasting notes of the three batches from the distillery: "By releasing a second batch this calendar year, our hope is that a portion of this blend will find its way into the hands of some of those who haven’t yet seen it on a shelf or had a chance to visit us in Brooklyn. Demand for our barrel-strength bourbon has grown, but the limited nature of barrel-strength-worthy inventory has kept the yearly case volume of those blends modest for the past several years. But when surveying some lots of inventory that had come of age in the time since the March release of Barrel-Strength Batch #16, we found enough exceptional barrels to merit an additional blend before the end of the year. Batch #17 features the oldest average age and most diverse blend mix of any Barrel-Strength Bourbon blend yet. We’re retaining our standard four-year age statement to allow for future flexibility, but the barrels in Batch #17 range between 5 and 9 years old, and four different cooperage sizes (10, 15, 30, and 53-gallon) contribute to the blend mix. The result is a blend that marries the deep oak sugars of Batch #16 with the highly concentrated house-classic profile of Batch #15; dark brown sugar, rich maple, Medjool date, ripe plum, caramelized jam, softened leather, and deeply integrated char are all at the forefront of a whiskey that drinks noticeably softer than its measured proof of 66.2% abv.”

That Jack Daniel’s is so hard to beat. I’ll stick to the lesser expensive alternatives. I just found batch 3 of the Jack 10, pretty good. Great video today.

Glad to see this review! I am going to Kings County on Saturday to do the tour. If they don't let us sample the barrel strength during the tasting will have to get a pour at the bar there.

I got a 375ml of the barrel strength last year for $40 and it was good. Just starting to see the 750ml bottles show up in the area but it’s typically the pleated and 90 proof. I will have to keep an eye out for the batch 17 🥃🥃😎

Yeah I’m not a peated fan and the lower proof offerings I think are too expensive I would stick to their barrel strengths

I've found both these bottles at a much lower proof. Curious if you've tried the 45 ABV.

@bourbonbill 6 месяцев назад
Yeah they have a regular non barrel proof version that’s more widely available but I have not tried those. Can’t say if they would be good or not.

I'm a fan of Kings County. I have the bourbon batch 17 and the rye batch 8. I also have a blend from a FB group that is all 4 year old bourbon from Kings County, and the other day I got a bottle from Lost Lantern that used 4 - 7 year old barrels from kings county called Brooklyn Backery. My favorite is the rye, then the FB group bourbon blend. The batch 17 bourbon and the Lost Lantern blend bourbon is just ok to me. I'll probably keep buy the bourbon release every year but I won't pass up their rye.

I don't care what the percentage of what each barrel is mash bill sure but if it's good it's good and whoever is blending it knows what they are doing. Looking to get both of these I'm a big rye drinker and I also drink scotch so high malt doesn't have a negative impact on me getting a bottle. Hoping seelbach gets these so I can order them. Enjoy!!

These should be right up your alley. These were from Seelbachs and they are sold out unfortunately. Someone else commented though they will be releasing batch 18 in the spring so be on the lookout for that

@@bourbonbill if you look at seelbach and see a bottle called River Roots don't sleep on it it's fantastic it's a NDP in Cleveland and one of its owners is the chef Michael Symon and two other guys that have great palates It's around 80 so not to badly priced I get it around me I'm just east of Cleveland. Seelbach is a pick of theirs. Check them out.
