The Kings Gambit is one of the most popular openings for white and has many different ways to defend against it. For those players that decide to decline the gambit, the Classical Defense is one of the more common ways for black to play. This is an in-depth video of how white can attack the Classical variation.

Could we see some Black-oriented King's Gambit videos? In all of these videos you clearly favor White, but it would be great to see some ways to defend against the King's Gambit.

Black has some decent lines. Pick up "The King's Gambit" by John Shaw. Most well played KG lines are pretty balanced or just slightly towards one side or the other, and some crazier than others.
@buakawfan333

I guess this shows you what not to do as black if you want to make it difficult for white. Your aim as black will be to not play a move that gives white more of an advantage, and I guess when you have exhausted the white player's repertoire you will be on pretty even terms? Maybe I'm wrong, but I've used these videos as black and had some success against similar rated players playing KG

Love these videos since they go so in depth, but there is a lot to remember and if you are trying to improve by memorizing starts, I find it a bit difficult to remember. I suggest, after you explained moves after a certain move, you could just quickly go hack, then quickly play the moves so we can remember. Of course, it is online and we can just pause, but would love a quick summary.

I have a question. I'm about 750 rating, so no pro. I played a guy who used the King's Gambit while he was using the white pieces, but he put his pawns on E4 and D4, with his knight on F3 (My knight was on C6, and my pawn was on E5). I was completely caught off guard. It ended up being a disaster when I declined the D4 pawn, and he simply pushed it forward. Such a seemingly simple move, but I was completely caught off guard. Any suggestions on how to defend this slight variation of the King's Gambit?

17:55 I was thinking that an important move would be Nb1 --> d2 because of the bishop & queen threat to h4. Black's knight can take on the upcoming g3 pawn and destroy white's King side, which also threatens the rook.

The video didn't say that this video is about Scandinavian game there are other videos on RU-vid about that, the chess website has that covered but if you mean d5 on the second move then that's the falkbeer counter and there are videos about that as well but to say why not mentioning variations about d5 without any move order is funny. I didn't see that you said open with d5 lol. Why would that be in a Kings gambit video?

the KGD is quite possible to reach from a vienna or bishops opening as well, in case you dont want to play 2. f4...but you couldnt play this c3 line...you would need to play Bc4 or Nc3 and reach a position that seems to be about 70% in favor of white in GM games...which is way above average
