Kings Island Review Mason, Ohio Amusement Park 

I'm 25 years old and I have soo many great memories of this park. Being super scared and shaking as a little boy, going all summer as a teen with my girlfriend, various dates thereafter, and now with my wife. Maybe someday with my kids lol. A place to forget the world's stresses. Thank you Kings Island!!!

BOTTOM LINE IS THAT O H I O IS THE ROLLERCOASTER CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!! HOME TO MANY QUALITY AND AWESOME COASTERS BOTH STEEL AND WOOD!!!

You forgot to mention that Soak City is free with admission! 😄

Kings Island is my home park. It's weird to think I've never NOT had the ability to drive a mile or two and be able to have hours of fun on roller coasters and rides and attractions. I have a gold season pass, and a good deal too! Only $100! Love having Kings Island so close, it blows me away how amazing it is, and how well I know the layout of the park xD. Haven't used a map there for probably 3-4 years...

King's Island is my home park! Before Cedar Fair bought it though it was getting a little bland. Landscaping and scenery were definitely lacking. However, now its absolutely amazing and i would recommend that anyone go there!

Quality > Quantity That's why KI is better than most other cedar Fair parks, besides CP for obvious reasons.

You should re-do this review now that they have added Mystic Timbers and will be adding a GIGA finally.

Also, Kings Island water park is included with the regular park ticket. At CP the water park is a separate $39 ticket, unless you have Platinum Pass. But KI needs a giga and a wing.

I really liked Kings Island when I went there. Great park. Banshee wasn't built yet so I'm going to have to try and go back soon.

I can very much see why KI is very good! Their quantity in their lineup is not very much, only 13 or 14 total (with kiddie coasters) However, the diversity and quality is unbeatable! They have the best in most models of coasters, a top tier hyper, top tier invert, a rare flying coaster, a top tier large woodie, a very fun middle size woodie, a better than most mine train, a Better than most boomerang, and 2 launch coasters! Their line up is strong, and if they build a gigacoaster here (B&M or Intamin) this could be a top tier, pilgrimage worthy park!

Great review! I love KI my husband and I had such an amazing time there on our honeymoon. We also went to CP, both parks were fantastic. this was 11years ago, think we're due for a revisit. Just waiting in our son to get big enough to ride everything.

About stashing your stuff at Flight Of Fear, great idea, I just know that multiple times I went during the past two seasons FOF was about a 2 hour wait due to them typically running 1 train, while Firehawk was 30 min or less. In that situation I stashed my bag or cup (or both) by the locker rental machine and nobody ever took it or even saw it the multiple times I put it there

My only real complaint is the park's appearance. You mentioned the entrance, which could definitely be redone. I would also say that many of the buildings, such as those on International Street and Coney Mall, look pretty dated, and could really use some renovation. But the rides are great. Just hoping we can get another B&M sometime soon.

nice review! as an employee of kings island and a lover of the park i completely agree. i may be biased as kings island is my home park but i do believe that it is a great park. teens and families who frequent the park have an almost unexplainable connection to the park. the offseason is a dark time for ones who love kings island that is for sure.

We go to kings island at least 2 or 3 times every year with living only an hour away. What a truly great park that has so much potential! Fire hawk is my favorite ride

I know I'm like 3 years late but I absolutely love Kings Island! Honestly, the scariest ride there for me is the drop tower. The feeling of weightlessness is just awesome but terrifying at the same time. Plus Kings Island drop tower is SO much taller and is honestly so much better than Cedar Points drop tower. I also have to complain about fast passes because it's just annoying having to wait longer.

This is currently my second favorite Cedar Fair park just behind Cedar Point. It was also one of the very first parks I wanted to go to since I first developed an interest in amusement parks back when I was in middle school.

the front entrance is like Disney. It was made so you don't see any of the park till you walk thur. then you have this big reveal. i have been going there since I was a kid.

Grew up with it as a Paramount Park. Was sad to see the movie themes go and I am also curious to see what they'll replace Vortex with since that was one of the most popular and picturesque rides at the park

I know I will get killed for this, but IMO, KI is a neglected park. Yes, they just got Banshee, but, if Cedar Fair spends more time on KI than on CP, then we could possibly see the two parks tied as no.1 CF parks. All KI needs is an excellent giga, a wing, floorless and a world class launch coaster. Then, KI could possibly edge out CP. Also, they should add a lot more family and thrill rides as well as some more flat rides and then spruce up the place. KI is a fantastic park and really needs those additions. Plus, they have an advantage over CP because unlike CP, KI isn't landlocked so they really can actually have all of those attractions.

I'd have to say I probably Agree with the statement about it being as good as cp if it had a giga

Also day and a half? Save some money buy going back a Tuesday or Wednesday. You can do everything in the park multiple times.

i love the entrance. i think it looks very good. it goes well with the international theme of the area its in. its allso got a nice large covered area

Personally, I agree that King's Island is one of the better parks in the region( no joke, if you're going on a long car ride and are driving right by it, take a break and have some fun). Definitely recommend it if you are staying in the Dayton/Cincinnati area. However, I really don't think that it will be passing Cedar Point anytime soon, though it will always have some "small park charm" to it

I have a lot of fond memories of this park.

The Bat was one one of a kind and maybe the first suspended coaster there is rare footage of it on you tube...it didnt last long due to mechanical issues....and The Beast at night is one of the best coaster rides anywhere...and one of the longest...son of beast was great as well but demolished due to saftey and was the first looping wooden roller coaster.

1:35 well they just did. I'm going there in 2 weeks and I'm excited.

Now that they have Orion, Kings Island is definitely a destination park and a stronger competitor to Cedar Point than ever

U need to add a lot to ki like a flying, a wing, a giga, a dive, a floorless, and maybe a strata not mandatory though. I haven't seen what coasters they have. Probably have some types I listed off and I don't know it so don't get triggered but I think cedar point is a priority park over ki right now and will be for a while

Welllllllll KI is getting a Giga sooooooo. Also since I've never seen a Haunt review for the park you might want to do some filming before the end of the year or next year.

I wasI there in 2007 with my MaryAnn and her friend Melisa the babe. I spent most the day in the shade enjoying beer. And the food for the park with the fresh air kept me thirsty. I did not go on any of those rides. But really enjoyed seeing my wife and girlfriend enjoying the thrills. I promised that one day we go tandem in a parasail. We never got to do that but we did enjoy bungie an zip lining. A few weekends. Anyway good vid and thanks for the memories.

I love one hour from kings island and I go once a day every week during the summer and I never get bored. Every time I go I always leave satisfied and I have barley any energy. I love it and can't wait till their next season

The entrance is a bit outdated, I agree. It's got that old 70s feel to it. Once you get past the main entrance building though, the fountain and KI sign in front and the Eiffel Tower in back looks fantastic. Anyone who's been to KI will know what I mean :)

I will echo everyone's sentiments about Kings Island. When I visited last year, I had no idea as to what to fully expect--even after seeing videos of KI on RU-vid and reading the reviews. But what I saw when I got to KI last year...it blew my mind away. I figured the Racer was gonna be just like Judge Roy Scream at my home park (Six Flags Over Texas)--boy, was I ever wrong. I thought the Beast reminded me of the original Texas Giant--but again, I was wrong. Everything about KI blew my home park out of the water, and I'd love to come back and visit again someday. P.S.: And the funny thing was...I was considering going to Cedar Point over KI. Glad I changed my mind XD

It's true they do need to update the front entrance a little bit, but its still nice to look at from the inside, with the restaurant on the upper level. That part of it is great!!! Just update the outside of the front entrance.. They should bring back their Antique Car ride aka Les Taxi to where it used to be! Move Backlot Stunt Coaster to where Dinosaurs Alive is when it leaves, I think what in 2017? Bring back the Skyride too KI!

Banshee>Raptor, The Bat>Iron Dragon, DB>Magnum, Vortex>Corkscrew, Racer>Blue Streak, Adventure Express>Cedar Creek Mine Ride. I would compare The Beast to something CP has, but i can't because CP has nothing like it (especially at night). The Beast at night is so unique, and one of the best rides in the world. Nothing like it. Anywhere! I will give CP credit and say they have an amazing top three type of coasters that KI doesn't have with Maverick, Millennium, and TTD. Gatekeeper and Valravn are ok IMO, but I don't think they're great. KI also has coasters that CP doesn't have though, like Firehawk, Flight of Fear, a great GCI in Mystic Timbers (one of the best GCI's), a solid and rare face to face Vekoma boomerang coaster in Invertigo, a very cool family ride in Backlot Stunt Coaster, and of course, the legend, The Beast. Arguably, one of the best in the world. I also don't like how CP has to cram everything into it's park because they are so landlocked. KI has another 400 acres just waiting for them to do something with. CP has to take out attractions to build new rides. There is also seagull poop everywhere all over the park at CP. I thought that was gross. Overall, CP has the edge in coasters(but KI is catching up to them), but when it comes to park charm and beauty, I will give that to KI.

Kings Island is an amazing park. and to all the cp fanboys: diamondback > magnum, diamondback > millennium force, banshee > raptor, the beast > every wood coaster at CP

in columbus cedar point and kings island are both a day trip. i go to kings island for my birthday and i usually only spend a half day since i get everything i want to do done quick with the fast pass thing.

I think as far as an overall park it's pretty close to cp but take a second and write down all the coasters at cp and all the coasters at KI, cp will be ahead but I'm not taking anything away from KI because I love their line up

Wouldn't it be cool if Kings Islands triotech was themed off of the beast? There would be a bear like beast that lived in a cave nearby.

I went there for 2018 gold pass preview and I rode the Diamondback with its new seats. Also I was going to ride the Adventure Express but it would not work.

I want to say that if you do decide to hide your stuff in a bush for banshee or firehawk they can deny you access to the ride. Just FYI.

They let me take my bag on almost all the rides. The only one where they were strict was the diamondback

Taylor, every summer I visit my hometown park a lot (which is Darian Lake) and a few other parks. This year I went to Universal Studios (with Islands of Adventure) and Canada's Wonderland. Next yea (along with Darian Lake) I will be visiting Cedar Point (For Valravin) and another park or two. Which park(s) do you recommend? (btw, I live in New York).
