From danny himself today: 'Finally' is now officially 20 years old! 🎶 It was an incredible honor to have had the opportunity to remix one of the most legendary deep house songs of our time. The amazing lyrics with a story that is both hypnotizing and fun to sing along with, and a great performance by Julie McKnight. I've worked on a couple of hundred songs since 1988 and this one shall remain in my top 5 for all eternity, with no doubt. Peter Daou added that amazing piano solo for me and Jim Albert was the engineer making it sound as great as it does. Most people do not know this story, but I was in my studio in NY when completing the remix and I could never forget this day for as long as I live. I was getting calls and messages to turn on the TV and it was when the first airplane struck one of the Twin Towers on 911. Obviously, I was not going back down to finish what I was doing, and it had put a huge damper on the project as it would've been impossible to easily get straight back into the groove and feel any joy in the studio. This song is about a loved one and then reuniting in Paradise. On that day, 1000s & 1000s lost loved ones and 'Finally' will always have that very special extra meaning to me." @defectedrecords
Non si può interrompere un suono così bello così intenso un ritmo coinvolgente . Una chicca soul di questo livello house music di qualità con degli orribili inappropriati spot pubblicitari..... Vergogna....,
Time marches on never ending, Time keeps its own time, Here we stand at beginning, And then goes passing us by, And I, I, I can dream for us all, I hope I'm in a better state, When here and now crumbles and falls And you, you , you who make worlds collide I knew you'd come knocking one day, Unannounced like a thief in the night. Where do we go from here, Time ain't nothing but time, I now have no fear of my fears And no more tears to cry, Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow means nothing at all If we don't hear the line, When today places its call, and morning, morning, morning Won't ever be the same, Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again So tell me how do you do Finally I meet you You don't know what I've been through Waiting and wondering about you I had a dream my trip would end at you And now I know paradise
I think this is my favourite mix so far. Most of the other mixes don't do it justice but this just works. Love how the music builds up slowly then climaxes. Wishing I could dance house.
Louie Vega's remix is a masterpiece but imho Danny Tenaglia turned this classic anthem into an awesome suite. Used to play both tracks back in the day and they both give goosebumps and cheerful response by the crowd. Who couldn't resist to Julie McKnight voice remixed by two legends?
Always mixed this amazing version into , Layo and Bushwacka's, love story. Simply because it seems to be naturally brooding in the background of this masterpiece anyway. If you really listen.............Amazing era with truly timeless music was 2001/2002.
I have been looking for this version for hours now yes!!!! I lost my club nation 2001 CD which is where I heard this track back in 2001 wow crazy, love it best version period. Thanks for the upload .
catching the boat across ibiza harbour to El Divino on Thursday, ice cannons at Amnesia on Friday, Saturday madness at Manumission, beach vibes at bora bora and we love Sundays at Space. Flying home Monday to start work on Tuesday... the soundtrack to the best week of your life...
Danny made this mix in Long Island City watching the twin towers go down from his loft. His balance of old and new on this mix is perfect, one foot in the past, one in the future. Timeless. I heard this on the Vinyl/Be Yourself System OOF
How much of that is true? The UK Defected vinyl pressing of both Tenaglia mixes was released 6 days after that day on the 17th September (source Discogs.com) same as the CD single which I bought at the time though I don't know the exact date for sure. Your story seems a bit far fetched to me, at the time I doubt he would still be working in the studio after what just happened in the States. The story was so big around the world let alone how devastating it was for the Americans, to have completed it sent it over here for a release in less than a week is a bit tight. That is of course if the 17th was the date it came out, the Official Charts company shows it entered #24 on the 29th so the release could've been pushed back a week to come out on the 24th instead.

It's true, Danny posted it this year for the anniversary of 9/11 and how this song is about a person losing someone and then reuniting with them in heaven, tell me that doesn't make you cry
