After a workout blood flow is stimulated and flexibility is improved. These are GOOD effects. However, if we slouch during the recovery period, this can cause a setback in your progress.
We must be mindful of our posture while our muscles are cooling down.
Bending forward and backward, as well as jutting the chin slightly in and out can clean up some of the mess when we find ourselves gradually contorting like a kinked slinky.
Once again, the key is awareness and early self-management...because if the slinky kinks quickly, it's more difficult to undo and it may cause a unique and distinct injury, followed by recovery period APART from the more global, FULL-SPINE issue.
This video shows a self-management procedure on how to get out in front of AND possibly reverse the effects of your spine kinking like a slinky.
* Sadly, the slinky did not survive the making of this video, which proves our point. It got kinked and couldn't be undone (at least within 2 minutes). Both a slinky and spine have their limitations.
