I've just listened to this version again, and I must be in a different mood from the one I was in when I heard it last time. I really liked a lot of it this time. Such clarity in this version. Individual contributions are better highlighted and their role in the overall piece easier to identify. The first part of the bridge sounds just as good as I remember the other one being, although I did miss Dave's jangling, twanging guitar part in the second part of it again. On reflection, I'd keep both versions. They both have a lot going for them.
The Kinks totally captured this at the time but NOW it's come back to life and is too real! This and other political satire prog rock are part of the soundtrack to the book Blueberry Muffins are Up a Buck a Pair - accessible here www.blueberrymuffins.org/
