More on the KIOTI DK4710SE HST here:www.kioti.com/products/tracto... AFTER 500 hours ...what went wrong and what I like about my Kioti tractor.... lots of good and some bad stuff too!
All minor stuff on the Kioti. Overall sounds like it has been a good tractor for ya! I can’t wait to see you team up with TYM?😂 I have heard good things about them too! Nice mechanic work Chris👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Good morning Chris!!😀😀 I was thinking that you might have just had a bad connection when the video started. LOL!! I've had the same problem many times over the years. Take care my friend!!😀😀💚💚 Logger Al
Great overview of the tractor, Chris. The best investment I made for my tool chest was a set of metric adjustable wrenches. You can find them at the Auto Parts Store in the same isle as the muffler bearings. 😂😂😂
Your using it to do real work, 500hrs. is more than most have in 10 years. This is a real review, on Utube don't get real work many times. there are lots of talking, looking at the color of it and worrying about trade-in value. Agree, buy it to do work, woods and logging is tuff on any tractor.
hi there nice tractor , i got a JD in the 80s . well back then no wear the selection that there is now , got the biggest i could afford.the new tractors have alot more lift capacities then the old ones ,then i got the biggest bobcat at the time ,one of my best moves . .lifting heavy things is the biggest need all year round .great show best to all john
Chris, take a scissor jack or house jack that’s small enough to fit inside the battery compartment and put some wood in front of it and in back of it and expand it and that should hopefully push back the metal for you into its original size. Ask for taking out your battery get a 2 by 4 or long piece of metal pipe and put it underneath the battery strap and use the cross bar pipe on the tractor to lift the battery out. It’s more or less a longer pry bar. I have had no major issues with my Kioti just a bad relay. I also bye pass the seat safety switch and also increased the hydraulics to get more lift out of the tractor. Regards
Chris - I first worked on farm machinery working in my Dad's shop when I was 9 years old. 75 years later I am still working around the stuff. Part of the longevity might be due to never trusting hydraulics. You need a safety leg under that raised loader. Please - never trust any single lifting device. Stay safe - Dud
I was about to mention the same, I've seen Murphy's law too many times when it comes to hydraulics. A person's reaction time doesn't equal how fast a blown line can lose 5 gallons of fluid
Not too bad for 500hrs working around timber. I found predelivery is the biggest issue with the cheaper equipment. I bought a loader and spent half a day when I first got it just tightening bolts and checking hydraulic lines etc. Good to remember hard knocks and vibrations will wear parts you can't see too. Thanks for the video!
Nice repair/video Chris. I have liked your choice of tractors from the beginning. Battery location doesn’t appear to be very well thought out though. Happy to hear that the Interstate battery was ok as I have a few and got good service (10 yrs) on the old ones. I would be looking at a one arm loader with telescoping boom for a RU-vid partner/promotional deal. GNI
Really that is about a good a spot as any for a battery. (It does need some better protection!) But far as easy to access...I would say they have done way better then others!👍
A little food for thought....wen u lookin for a tractor ask ur dealer how many hydraulic pumps it has, I've heard(can't remember which brand)one of them has 2 hydraulic pumps 1 for the steering n another for everything else n with that it keeps ur max power for lifting
Might be Chris some batteries for tractors are different than ones for cars and trucks. The bouncing a vibration is worse tractors. Tell them when you buy the battery that it’s for a tractor. And you are right about that battery sticking out the front bounces it more. Nice tractor.
I spray lithium grease on the terminals to prevent corrosion. Been doing that since the 70’s when my grandfather showed me. I think you bounced a piece of firewood off the hood when it was really new😮
Chris , what if you were able to take a piece of sheet of some sorts and attach it to the bolts behind the front bumper I beam , so it hangs down , so in the event something hits that and will not rattle your battery box to give the battery some more protection. Good luck 👍
I actually LOL'ed when you wished the world had a standard size for everything. There is... it's called Metric. It's not the worlds fault that the US does their own thing. Love your vids... I've been watching since they've numbered in the 700's. From a fan from the east coast of Canada...
Sounds like you've only had minor problems with the Kioti!! Hopefully you'll get a vendor who would like to do a partnership!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Get a AGM / Absorbent Glass Mat battery next time you need one. It will last a lot longer and are made more for rough service use. Was changing batteries almost annually till I went to AGM.
Hey Avant, are you listening? Tractor is great as an all-around workhorse and losing the 3point hitch might be a pain for moving the trailers around the woodyard but you would gain on the material handling visibility aspect on the loader and turn ability.🤔and the cab may prove problematic setting up and moving cameras around.😜
I’d suggest bolting or welding a heavier plate onto the bottom of the brush guard to protect the battery box better Which you said about three minutes after I typed this 😂
Iv seen a after market bigger battery box ( not sure what is involved for installation) and a heavy plate to add to bumper to protect box.. but yeah hopefully Kubota sponsors you and you can leave the kioti at your other place for plowing etc etc.
Being as I was 16 when my Uncle bought the Kubota that I still use every day I would have to get another one...if this one ever wears out! At 67 I think I will wear out first. 😂
Yup, I'd think that with just shy of 60K subscribers you won't have any problem developing a partnership with any of the tractor manufacturers. I've got the Kioti RX 7320 with a cab and like it a lot. Maybe you'd want to consider something that size? Not quite sure what you meant when you said that you wouldn't mind getting something "a little" bigger.
@@InTheWoodyard ya, 60HP would probably work well for you, because then you can still get it with a hydrostatic Trans. If you went up to say my size, you have to get a gear driven Trans, which is fine for me, but most people prefer hydro, as they're easier to drive. Ya, if I were you, I'd start reaching out to different manufacturers, and see if any of them would be interested in developing a partnership with you. I would think that most brands would LOVE having a partnership with you, as you make so many videos, that their product would get a huge amount of exposure. Good luck!
@@JeffGeorgalasI ran the RX7320 on my channel and I loved some things about it but overall it was a bit big for me. New tractor coming soon! I’m going to miss the lift capacity of it though.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I love my 7320. Yes, it's overkill for a lot of what I do, but in Winter when pushing an 8' pushbox, it's perfect for my needs. I'm curious to see what machine you've got coming!
All of these tractors have plus and minus. The dealership makes the difference. I bought my Kabota L4400 14 years ago and just changed the battery 6 months ago. I'm using the old battery for my woodspliter. Other than the battery I haven't had any problems with the Kabota. .
After all the problems that tractor is throwing at you, I certainly would try to turn it in on another tractor brand. My father is a diehard John Deere tractor owner which is used on his timber farm. He also has a small John Deere bulldozer a JD 450C which has given excellent service for over 20 years. Changed the batteries once and several blade hoses only because some dirt and debris fell over the top of the blade and smashed a hose. Please look at John Deere before you buy. Best of luck in getting that new work toy.
@@InTheWoodyard Sorry to hear that your local John Deere dealers are not good. If you have not looked since buying your latest tractor, please give them another shot. Things change over time, new dealership owner's, a lot of tractor improvement, etc. Anyway, enjoy the hunt.
Yes why they don't put some kind of cage around them lights I will never understand. Oh if you want to be alittle more safety minded you could cut a piece of angle iron the length your fully extended rod to fit in between the barrel and the pin on your lift cylinder so you don't have to be concerned about it coming down on you. We did when I worked for Cat. be safe
Purchase an optima yellow top battery and a mounting plate for the battery and extended battery cables Problem solved You can mount the battery in any direction even upside down
Looks like a design issue, one shouldn’t have to take the whole front end apart, just to get at the battery . I don’t like the lurching that my Kubota does but I’ll keep it.
I’m gonna say that’s a terrible battery location tho I would relocate that battery to be honest just cause of that problem but I would put a battery around close to the steering column or under a seat or something like that
Yeah it’s not a good location for that battery I hope they can read this if it’s under the hood or the fender or the part closer to the back is the best place for the battery if my opinion hope others don’t get butt hurt but yeah
I am not a fan of Kioti . If I was going for a new tractor today of that size I would go with a kubota . I have a M5100 kubota . I have several tractors from old to modern . But unless you trade up every 3-4 years you will always have something to work on . If that battery did not have a Go handle on it I don’t see how you would ever get it out !
Maybe you can suck that ding out of the hood. Everything needs regular servicing, thankfully the battery was okay after all. 500 Hours, 3 years-wow Might be worth cleaning or replacing the filter?😊 The Pope rang me to say-feed the cats😀
I have done the 50 hour 200hour and 500 hour regular service and all the filters have been changed with each service. The dent does not affect any function...this is a work horse not a show pony.
Everyone likes Interstate batteries, I still think AC Delco or any other "older" name brands might be better....... Interstate tend to leak, or have weak cases. (opinion and my experience) Deep dive into quality, research percentage of lead content in any of the modern batteries and or overall weight. Napa seems to have quality batteries, but they are more expensive.
Like everything today...I believe there are only a few battery companies that manufacture batteries for a lot of different companies. I have read forums arguing over the better battery to only have someone point out they are made in the same plant!😂
Those orange triangles are dangerous. They block your view and skin you up every chance they get. If your not on the road or around idiots just get rid of it.
Cathy and Paul short make mod for tractor 🚜, out of Newfoundland ship anywhere in the world 🌎. Look 👀 Cathy and Paul short think there got a U tube channel to . 😊 work for IOC in Labrador iron ore on the biggest gear around 😊.
Battery... regular maintenance not done including battery tender. Light...you hit something Aftermarket control ...not Kioti Hose popping out aftermarket Bolts loosen Pins should be greased and checked regularly as your manual Seat sensor is govt. Mandated. Regen another govt. Mandate. I'd take a Kioti over a Deere or TYM any day.
You are taking a huge risk when you are moving logs with that loader. Yes, you are somewhat protected with the thumb on that grapple bucket but as the dent in your hood shows, it is possible to cause a log to roll down the arms of that loader and clean the driver right off the seat. You need complete front and rear ROPS protection on any tractor loader when moving logs. That's the advantage of cabs on loader tractors.
They should make engineers work as mechanics for a year before they are allowed to design anything. It is crazy where they put batteries any more. I have a John Deere Gator. It needed a new starter. It was only 2 bolts and a wire. We put it on a lift and undid it, it would not come out the hole. The unit needed 4 1/2 hrs. of work to get the battery out. STUPID. Same with your battery. You should just have to remove 2 screws and lift it out. It has worked that way for 100 yrs. but these over educated morons can't understand that.
On the flip side, for tractor company who pleads durability, etc. Chris would do a phenomenal job at showcasing all of that. Facts speak from Chris, he is not a fan of show pony’s, he wants what works, does what it says it going to do, and does not hold back. Some may say he is a salesman, I have been a subscriber to Chris’s channel for over 3 years and I can attest, he works hard and is not at all easy on equipment and does not hide anything. Straight facts. Personally, I want that; honesty and straight facts. Real world non sugar coated truth and Chris shows that as does Bert. So many other channels get tractors, I could list one who got just. I had to take a dump out of my thoughts of the posts and defend Chris or at best state the facts. With over 1400 videos and still going, the man knows his stuff and deserves credit where credit is due. RU-vid has become a great real world review place but a few creators tell the facts, like In The Wood Yard does. Rant over. I need more coffee and then get some more work done. Great video Chris, keeping it real and honest. Good Night Irene. ☺️
