Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts is an incredible animated show over on Netflix, that explores a postapocalyptic world where mutes (mutated animals) reign and humans live in bunkers. It's animated by Studio Mir, the same studio that did the Legend of Korra and it shows. It's drop dead gorgeous.
Music is a major theme in this show, almost every episode will have some moment centered around a song. It flawlessly integrates songs from different artists, and has a great original score too.
This video is a cover of the shows main theme that plays in the intro, and the Season 3 ending. I figured it was finally time to pay tribute to this wonderful show so I made this epic orchestral cover of the intro! I was particularly influenced by Segun Akinola's incredible and underrated score for Doctor Who, and enjoyed dipping my toes in a slightly different style for this one. Hope you enjoy it too!

My first new vid in a long time, I hope you enjoyed! 💖🐆 Now for a fun story time, my PC and laptop consecutively broke down in the middle of creating this cover, meaning I didn't have access to any of my usual programs. Still, I was able to get this out by busting out my old iMac, adding some finishing touches to a previous export of this cover I sent over discord, creating the thumbnail in figma lol and getting help from my amazing girlfriend to create the visuals. Shoutout to her 💞

Kipo is one of the great animation gems on Netflix. It’s underrated and not as popular as Carmen Sandiego and She-Ra, but it’s a special show worth watching.

The only sad thing is that, because of the nature of Netflix's ready-to-binge season drops, Kipo won't ever really be talked about to the degree that it deserves. I know that there are people out there who also love the show, but I just wish things could've been done a bit more traditionally so people could've have the chance to actually talk about it as things were happening, like Gravity Falls or The Owl House or Amphibia or, hell, even TADC for a more recent example! The very fact that you made this has made my day. Thank you :)

That model pains me with a lot of netflix shows I love. An entire season being dropped at once means you lose that week after each episode airs where you can talk and think about it, and built hype. Most recently I've found that happening with Hilda season 3, I haven't heard a lot of buzz around it even tho it's really wonderful 5 eps in

So many things that I love - Tales of Arcadia, The Umbrella Academy, Race to the Edge, Lost in Space, She-Ra, and Dead End to name a few - could've sprouted such a loving and huge fandom were it not for the fact that they had no secrets left to dish out. I would kill to have a show worth talking about that I could actually talk about as it happened like any one of the ones I've listed.

so glad people are discovering kipo! its such an amazing show! theres alot of good animated shows out there that deserve recognition. I love these orchestral versions of all these shows. I lowkey hope one gets made for lego monkie kid, which is a show that has no right being as good as it is. feels like alot of TOH fandom migrated to that or ROTTMNT tbh

It's sad how underrated a lot of Netflix animation is. Shows like Kipo, Centaurworld, Inside Job, and even She-Ra to an extent have oddly small communities for how good they are. Personally, I blame Netflix for releasing seasons all-at-once. It limits shows to one high-point of popularity between gaps of inactivity versus sustained periods of discussion and theorizing with the traditional model.

This is beautiful music. I actually thought it was one of the songs used in the show because it was that good. Thank you for giving this underated (and probably un appreciated) show the spot light it deserves. And can i ask you to try and make an orchestra with the original Kipo music its just that good. (Especially the song titled "the new age" it just hits different when you hear it)

I love the that you've woven together the sense of mystery and wonder and also the sense of adventure and excitement.
