I love how this game establishes the personalities for the characters that we see in later games. Kirby's a goofy kid who's always happy to help and get the job done when necessary. He's the kind of guy that may be cute and innocent, but underneath that babylike exterior lies a noble warrior willing to risk his life to set things right. And King Dedede's the kind of guy who wants to just do what he wants, mind his own business and not get involved in any conflict, like any greedy king. But when push comes to shove, he'll begrudgingly tag along to save the day, whether it's for his own gain or not. I think he's the character I relate to the most, second only perhaps to Meta Knight. Also, I like how you can actually see him crying before they leave in the bad ending. It shows that even though he's a greedy king, he doesn't like saying goodbye to people he cares about. Reminds me of when I used to do that as a kid.

Something has to be said about the quality of these cut scenes, they are so fluid and show so much character. Hard believe this is N64 hardware

I love how kind Kirby is in this game. Literally less than a minute after meeting the fairy he's more than willing to help her collect all of the crystals to save her planet. What a guy!

Man, these cutscenes are so charming. These are another reason as to why Kirby 64 is my favorite N64 title of all time.

I was obsessed with these cutscenes as a kid and just this whole game in general. It just oozes with charm. They're so cute and expressive and I loved seeing the whole crew hanging out together.

N64 Kirby is honestly my favorite kirby. He just looks so endearingly dopey and head-empty, he's just having a good time saving the world and I love him.

I absolutely adore everything about these cutscenes. From the character interactions, the dynamics, and the personalities shown:From Kirby, the kind, cute, and goofy little puffball, to Ribbon, the sweet, yet tragic little Fairy companion but thanks to Kirby and ftiends she gained all her hope back, to Waddle Dee, the adorable little companion, to Adeleine, the token Human child who's nice, calm, and caring, to King Dedede, the king who, even through his jerk tendecies, really does a heart of gold. You grow attached to the Gang. They're buddies on an adventure. It gets heartwarming and sweet, such as Kirby helping Ribbon and helping cheer her up and encouraging her to go find the crystal shards, King Dedede giving in and joining the crew, and in the bio, he couldn't let them go on their own, as they're basically some children, Adeleine stopping the others at the sight of Kirby's struggle, being the most concerned, and coming to his aid and making food for everyone, Ribbon staying behind to help Kirby, and finally, Ribbon giving Kirby the cute little kiss on the cheek. That little triumphant feeling comes in when they come out of the explosion after facing the big bad, knowing that they finally did it...they saved Ripple Star. The ending credits having this upbeat song with cute illustrations truly gives you a happy, triumphant feeling in the end.

I absolutely love this game. We need a Kirby anime based off this specific game. Right back at ya was decent but something like this would be great

*things i love about this game over newer kirby games* 1. Kirby's design/expressions/personality (Kirby not running around like a mindless baby and is more like a goofy kid. ) 2. Dedede's design/expressions/personality (Dedede's personality contrasts kirby's as a more serious and grumpy character but is a good guy deep down} 3.Short and sweet, cute cutscenes that show the characters personalities and engaging with each other 4.Kirby x ribbon. (I ship it!) ;)

One of my favorite stories out of a Kirby game. The plot itself is simple, but the sense of adventure is so present in the cutscenes. The Dark Matter is an intimidating presence throughout the game, seeing how each character is affected by it. Not too mention, the character interactions are just wholesome. Helping one another through gameplay making them feel like a team.

Man this was one of my most memorable Kirby games, even just listening to this vid, a rush of my childhood came back, and soo many memories and hours of playing this game returned, as if I was playing it yesterday.

I've always wondered what species Adeleine was. Kirby is 8" or 20cm tall. The average kid that should be Adeleine's age is 42" or 106cm tall. If she was human, she would be 5x Kirby's size. King Dedede I actually can understand if he was a real penguin, a baby penguin being 23 cm tall (which is slightly shorter than Dedede, and would fit in the Kirby world). Adeleine would need to be a 20 week old fetus that never grew in size.

I really miss the cutscenes that played when you went to a new world/area in Kirby games. They’d been in the games since the first one but they really expand upon them in this game and they really add so much to the characters and story. I hope HAL brings these back some day.

After rewatching this and realizing all the residents of Ripple Star are all cute little fairy girls, I am now glad discord mods don’t know about this planet, or else a threat stronger than Dark Matter would shatter the crystal first.

I remember as a kid, I got crap for preferring N64 over PS, because PS had "better" cinematic scenes. Ironically, N64's real-time cinematic scenes aged better then the low-quality, muddy, prerecorded FMV scenes of the PS1. Especially, on modern TVs.
