Seeing “Blood and violence” at the start and knowing fully well that a lot of people won’t know why is one of the many reasons I love being a Kirby fan
@@TheDuckyDino Don't all Switch Online game trailers have that weirdness because you're buying the entire service which has a bit of blood and violence here and there?
After years of people making jokes saying stuff like "Man, you're telling me Kirby is for kids?!" over and over, it's pretty funny seeing Kirby 64 get boosted up to a Teen Rating, I'll admit
Pretty sure the T rating is for the entire Switch Online N64 app. Kirby 64 was E10+ on Wii U I believe, and I dont see why it would have been bumped up to a T rating.
you do realize you need to pay 50 bucks if you just want to play that singular game (that you don't even really own (and can only play for a limited time)), right?
I remember playing this at the N64 in the McDonald’s play place as a kid, never having a chance to finish it. Can’t wait to finally do a full play through of this!
@@TheNo1pencil I guess that was a one-time gimmick, so they wouldn't have to make too many different abilities to combine. I guess now they prefer just giving Kirby a ton of different abilities instead of fewer you can mix up.
I vividly remember being alive before this game was even out, looking forward to its release as I read about it in Nintendo Power, and the absolute euphoria of exploring this game from top to bottom. I love it.
This was one of my favorites as a kid. They never made another one quite like it, with all these unique copy abilities. The artstyle even holds up today, which you can't say about most N64 games.
@@stripedrajang3571 DK64 looks better then most Dreamcast games, and that was a more powerful console. And I dunno, I have some nostalgia for lower-polygon games, as I grew up with them.
@@DJ-0 Nobody said anything about a limited move set? Forgotten land shows combos can work with more complex move sets with blizzard ice basically being ice+needle.
My personal favorite. Best Kirby game (in my opinion) and the best story of the franchise. All the character have a personality in this one and the final boss is the best of em all.
I have SO many memories playing this classic game. Trying to find all the crystal shards, playing hours upon hours on the mini games with my family and friends, and just remembering how much fun this game is. I love all the music and the colours were so captivating. I’m so happy this is coming on the switch.
@@awildmoose6541 JuSt EmUlAtE iT Dude, not everyone has access or knowledge about emulation tools, plus it's kind of illegal since they likely don't own the game
@@cjlite0210 if you don't know how to emulate N64, it's not an "access to knowledge" problem, you're just straight up intellectually challenged. 3 minutes of a simple google search would solbe the problem.
@@Mechanrobot the first Kirby game I played and 100% was this on my PC emulator as an 8 year old. Zero 2 didn't take me off guard at all but that princess dying did lol
I still remember how frustrating it was to try & get that last shard that needed the ability to carve a statue. And how rewarding it was to encounter the event that resulted from it. And now, we can play the mini games with others online.
My very first Kirby game and still my personal favorite growing up. Even though I'm not in a hurry to get the Expansion Pass right now. I'm happy to revisit playing this once more.
This was my first Kirby game. I never had a SNES growing up, so I learned of many Nintendo characters through the original Smash Bros. Kirby 64 came out shortly after Smash and I ended up spending dozens upon dozens of hours in this game.
@@silverthefox5363 I knew the Sonic characters and the Mario characters mostly. I was born in 1990 so Sonic 2 was my first video game. I had Bomberman on the N64, and I'd probably played Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat in the arcade, but I didn't know that many Nintendo characters until I got Smash.
@@TheDuckyDino Yep, as he cries red tears when defeated, which may have cause the ESRB to decide it was close enough to actual blood to give the game a T for Teen and add blood (remember, they re-rated Earthbound from K-A, the predecessor to the E rating, to T for Teen when it was re-released on the Wii U Virtual Console).
I still remember being a kid walking into Walmart to get my first N64 and seeing this game! So many memories with this game it’s gotta be my favorite up there with return to dreamland.
This game is a straight masterpiece. This, Sonic 2, Ocarina of time, Majoras Mask, THPS2, Spider-Man 64, Super Mario 64, Super Mario 3 and Spyro1&2 were my childhood.
My first Kirby game, and probably one of the best in the series! It's also where we first met Adeleine & Ribbon, who later appeared in Kirby Star Allies, and are also freaking adorable!
Adaline should be a recurring character like Meta Knight, and such. (Her paint powers were cool.) Kinda odd Meta Knight wasn't in this one, probably the only bad thing about the game.
@@beauwalker9820 She should 100% be in Forgotten Land given its constant references to Kirby 64 (especially Dedede's design) as well as lore reasons idk why she isn't here
“Long have I waited, for my most anticipated game to come home” I am elated as a avid Kirby fan to finally be able to play this. Especially as I recently 100% forgotten land too!
I bought Kirby's Dream Collection for Wii last year because I really wanted to play this game again--I'm happy this is the next one coming to Switch so more fans get to experience it 😄
I wish there would be another kirby game set up like this one. It's what got me into kirby in the first place. The only other game that gave me the same kind of joy when playing was epic yarn. I'm glad to see crystal shards get added to the library finally. :)
My first Kirby game, and still my favorite. Very happy it's coming to Switch so more folks can play it! And I know every Kirby game likes to invent their own gimmicks, but I do wish the Copy Ability combos would come back in a newer game. They were a lot of fun to play around with.
A lot of the mechanics in Kirby games are one-time use, and I think that’s the one problem I have with the series. I seriously hope they don’t drop the ability upgrade mechanic from Forgotten Land in the same way.
@@Arturo_tx97 believe it or not, there is red blood at one point in the game. Though, the T-rating is because the N64 ap has 2 T-rated games. Banjo Kazooie had some crude humor too, (such as Gruntilda picking her nose) though there's no rating descriptor for that oddly.
I think this was my second or third Kirby game after I played Super Star Ultra and maybe Mass Attack. Definitely a must play game in the series due to how unique it is compared to the rest!
@@GlitchanBlack 4 bucks a month for online,n64,sega,nes,snes,MK8 courses,AC dlc, splatoon 2 dlc and some other exclusive stuff.... Remember when Xbox live and psn was 10 bucks just to play online?
This was one of those games they had in a McDonald’s play place that I would try to play anytime I could because we didn’t have one at home. I’ll finally get to play and possibly beat this game now I’m excited
I barely remember watching my dad play this at night as a kid. I watched him fight Adeleine (the painter) and fell asleep on the couch really late that night. First time I ever saw Kirby
Heck yeah!!! After finishing Forgotten Land, I've been craving to play more kirby so I'm glad that Crystal Shards is coming to the switch this very same month!
It's so funny how they raised the age rating of a Kirby game, of all things Glad to see this game getting released to Switch though, it's underrated IMO
been listening to the OST from time to time thinking back on the many levels and songs I fell in live with as a child. so happy to be able to play it on the go 💓
It's 2.5D. It's generally played on a 2D axis, but uses 3D models. Forgotten Land is the first and only true 3D Kirby game, since it's played in a 3D area.
I think if the game's pace and movement was just a bit faster, this would be a contender for the best Kirby! As it stands, it's still pretty up there. Can't wait to play it here!
Just finished playing this for the first time on Wii U VC a few weeks back, and it's really good. To anyone reading this now: Kirby 64 will not disappoint! You'll really enjoy it!
