I really like how the Pop Star aesthetic borrows the donut things from Star Allies, Kirby Fighters 2, and Forgotten Land. It’s a really unique set piece and I think they really stand in as the new Green Greens theme

Goodness, this is some incredible stuff! It almost makes me want to see a proper remake of Kirby 64... Actually, maybe lump in the rest of the Dark Matter Trilogy too and have them bundled together as a collection of remakes. I'd absolutely love something like that.

It's beautiful. Of all the games on the N64 I think this one deserves a remake there's two major issues with the original. One is the limitation of the console, like visually it did not age well, Mario 64 and OoT fall into that aesthetically pleasing retro era 3D category. The environmental art design is crazy good in kirby, better than OoT and Mario 64 but it doesn't hold up graphically, it's too low poly, textures are stretched over too large a polygon making the resolution bad. There are also points I recall it lags. The second major issue is kirby's controls, every kirby game has been very responsive and snappy but this one. kirby's horizontal velocity is just too slow in this game and it feels like walking through mud half the time. Most games on the descent of a jump actually increase the gravity to prevent it from feeling floaty, Kirby 64 doesn't do this. In theory it shouldn't be an issue because kirby is a light puffball, he should be floaty but when coupled with the slow horizontal speed, it feels worse overall. There are plenty of times when I play this game I'm walking in the opposite direction and don't move fast enough to get hit. Now this is actually a design tactic used very frequently in older games to improve performance, moreso in 2D era.

The moment I saw the T rating at the beginning, I facepalmed HARD. Kids CAN handle a bit of blood for Pete's sake.

you seem to be missing the point a bit, if you want to make a good remake here, study the musical style, and basically upscale the original style in higher fidelity, this comes off as generic and surface level currently, when I think you could go really hard if you tried to pick this apart a bit more.

Eh. It just looks like Kirby 64 in unity. Not inherently bad looking, but the art style is completely lost. It has no character despite me staring at whispy woods
