It works really well on soil stains, the dark spots that develop on carpet over time. There are other stains and discoloration that my Kirby has removed, while other stains it improves but leaves traces. The best way to remove stains with it is to spray it the stains with concentrated Kirby shampoo or Kirby Oxy stain remover, let it set for a few minutes then shampoo over it. If it’s still there, repeat the process. An extractor will achieve better results if you use the Kirby shampooer right before. Some professional carpet cleaning companies use this method. Dry foam machine to pre treat with and extractor right after. The dry foam machines are sort of like the bomb before the infantry comes in, which would be the extractor :)
