These things have tremendous agitation and airflow. They are just fantastic at deep carpet cleaning. I also love that they have that nice purr to them rather than the high pitched scream that most modern vacuums have. It’s just too bad that they aren’t convenient for changing attachments since we have a mix of hard floors and carpet on all 3 levels.
These are beasts! "Modern" people don't seem to know how powerful these are LOL. If only that belt wouldn't be in the airpath. Then it wouldn't stall the brushroll in heavy messes. Great video!
The belt being away from the airpath is one of the things I really wish Kirby would design, like a Hoover Turbopower 1 😁 Thank you so much I’m really glad you enjoyed it!!
Sounds good! All of them are good but 7-10 amps have pretty powerful motors. Mine was 7.5 until I rebuilt it in 2016. I believe it is 9-10 amps now. I don't use it as much as my Kirbys because it is mainly for carpet, and I have floors and rugs, but I still use it every now and then.@@parwaz7861
These actually have tons of of suction, they literally stick to the floor making them hard to push. It's a workout! Plus the brushroll is amazing, cleans better than most vacuums out there to date. On the same level as the old 60s and 70s Hoover uprights. Dirty air machine will always struggle more with high volumes of Dirt at once as all everything picked up goes through the fan rather than bypassing it. I personally wouldn't have even attempted this with my Kirby.
As I am rewatching this I realized your other recent video of your vintage Hoover did a better pass than this vacuum. Both still good for how old they are but I would love to see this vacuum and your vintage Hoover for a comparison on a mess test
I don’t know about others but these just demonstrates to me that Dyson probably popularized machines that need a lot of maintenance like emptying the damn bin which is messy and washing messy filters. Cordless might be convenient, but I don’t feel they are on the same level as this machine here! Even the Gen5 isn’t there yet. Dyson are pretty and fragile & not built to last like something like this and SEBO. Shame people are brainwashed by Dyson marketing.
Tbh with a Dyson, they seem to be more reliable than other vacuums tbh! They’re motors seem to be more reliable than they used to be 10 years ago - there’s Numatic motors burning out, Miele aren’t what they used to be with their quality with motors and PCBs going, etc With a Dyson, especially something like a DC14 they can go many many months without needing a filter wash, I like the idea of bags but I find myself changing them frequently before they’re even full due to the smell of dust being absorbed into the fibres of the bag I know Dyson vacuums have their flaws, but for me they work great overall
Filter maintenance on a Dyson is not that bad. The cyclonic filtration that they use is pretty damn efficient. Their build quality improved when they modified the composition of the plastics to make them more durable compared to theie earlier models.
we had one in our home when I was growing up, all my childhood was spent with this vacuum and I hated every second using it :D it was a newer model, but still. It was loud, heavy, clunky, always a pain to take out and bring back into the closet. It cleaned good though.
There has been a Legend 2 at my local Goodwill for a month now. Its 45 bucks. Strangely, the brushroll is completely seized. Are Generation brushes the same size as Legend 2 brushes? And can they fit into a Legend 2 brush mounting socket? Late update: no, it won't. And it's gone
The Kirby vacuum cleaner is "marketed exclusively door-to-door - often to people who cannot afford a $2700 gadget, but succumb to the sales pitch nonetheless." In 2001, the West Virginia Attorney General obtained thousands in refunds and credits for dissatisfied Kirby buyers. It’s claimed to last a lifetime, but the warranty is only 3 years ( 2 year less then Dysons 5 year warranty)
Mine is 36 years old and I had to replace a fan. That's it. My Aunt's G series Kirby is 30 years old and she had to replace a fan 22 years ago and her white carpet looks as fresh as the day it was bought. They're marketed that way because they last a lifetime. Kirby has sold them on their website for years, with a door to door demonstration optional. Usually a great way to haggle down the price. Kirby complaints are almost never because of the machine. It's almost always about the sales tactics used by unscrupulous sellers. It isn't the machine's fault if people don't take the time to learn how to operate it correctly, or don't understand everything it can do because they didn't read the manual. It isn't the machine's fault, if someone misrepresents, or uses predatory methods to sell it. It isn't a $2700 gadget, it is a $2700 transforming machine with multiple uses outside of it's main function of vacuuming. That's why it's sold as a home care system, not a vacuum cleaner. Please don't mitigate the machine because of factors outside of it's control. Also if you are going to quote, provide the source of the quote so I can better understand the reference.
I often run out of space and it stops recording before I’m done filming a video If I download an editing app I wouldn’t be able to record a video that’s long enough to need editing anyway
