Kirby's Dream Land DX - Full Color Rom Hack

Maybe the plot for the first Kirby game was that Kirby didn't know how to copy abilities from his enemies yet since he was just a baby in his first game. So he basically had to go on an adventure to get smarter and learn new powers. Then in the next game he learned how to copy abilities. That should be his character plot. :)

This was a very early game boy title for me. I think if you played this first it holds a high place, but if you started with Kirby's adventure or later the gameplay will feel cut way back.

So, I never grew up with Kirby's Dreamland 1. I actually didn't like it at first, but the more I played it, the more fun it got. It's a really great game that shows that Kirby doesn't need his copy abilities to make a fun game.

i've watched Blue Television games for about 2 years (i think) and he is awesome at games, he makes me laugh when there isn't anything to cheer me up :) thanks for being who you are BTG!!

@BTG The cannons in the extra game are called Blatzy and the boss at the Float Islands is Kaboola. That's all I can remember, if I even spelled the names correctly. Also remember BTG: "Always let a sleeping Scarfy lie." - Super Smash Brothers Brawl trophy description.

this is my absolute favorite Kirby game because the bosses aren't a cake walk.

4:27 I've only played this game through Kirby's Dream Collection for the Wii. I prefer it colorized. It's also how I've played Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, and the entire Dark Matter Trilogy.

My favorite victory song is the one from the Final Fantasy series, that one is just pure nostalgia for me! Kirby is up there, as well, though.

Yup, it's my favorite Kirby game. It was the first and I never really liked the Kirby games that followed. They were okay... but this was by far the best.

Definitely my favorite victory music is Diddy's Kong dance from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

There are many great Kirby games, Amazing Mirror is my favorite, it was the first one I owned. I love this game as well.

This game brings back the memories. I was 5, 6 when it came out. I love the game, the music, and King Deedeedee's boss music.

I am a simple man. I see Kirby, I click. Jokes apart, the reason Kirby doesn't use copy abilities is because the game was originally not designed with Kirby in mind. He was just a placeholder sprite which the devs ended up loving. The concept of Kirby using Copy Abilities evolved from him floating by inhaling air, which evolved from the idea that the devs wanted a game where one can't fall in gaps easily. Also, the team was pretty new and thus didn't add Copy Abilities until Adventure. NES was quite old during Adventure's release and thus the team was able to add abilities. This is the same reason Copy Abilities exist in Dream Land 2. Also, the powerup is actually a sweet potato which somehow got translated to Mint in English. So Kirby uses Minty breathe on enemies. Another fact: Lololo and Lalala existed prior to Kirby! They were the main characters in their own games. A Hint for any Kirby game you play: Whenever you see a Moon in any Kirby level, go into it, its always a secret. About the names being in multiple of 3, like Lololo , Lalala or Dedede, Kirby's original name was Popopo. It was either changed in respect of the the NOA lawer or for the German Vaccum cleaner company!

It's like playing the first part of Kirby superstar in Gameboy color...

Lala was the one you had to save in Adventures of Lolo.

First kirby game i ever played was kirby’s avalanche. People who are use to tetris couldn’t get use to it and i prefer it over tetris.

I still have the original game on Gameboy after getting as a kid. I enjoyed it back then but it wasn't like a standout game or anything. It does look very nice in colour. I kinda want to break out my game boy now

One of my first game boy games and first games I've ever owned. Kirby was originally white. The one thing that has disappointed me about future Kirby games is that they aren't as challenging as this game. They became drastically more easy and maybe too kid friendly. They weren't as fun.

This looks cool, does this work on emulator? I haven't played Dream Land 1, and I want to try it out, but I just find the monochrome aspect isn't nice to look at.

(>0_o)> Love it. Edit: I think using enemy powers makes Kirby too overpowered, so I try to sometimes play Kirby games this way for the challenge. Chrono Cross' Battle Victory theme is the best (for the Chrono Trigger nostalgia).

I actually gave this DX a shot and I completed it.

I just plug the cartridge into a Gameboy Color and I will also get colors that are really good (nearly identical with this hack). I don't know why you should use a hack for this.

Most if the time, I find shooting stars at bosses more effective than using copy abilities.
