Here is the latest Georgia Bulldogs football information from Athens, Georgia. You can find Kirby Smart press conference and UGA highlights at www.UGASports.com.
Man If I wasn’t an Alabama fan, I’d definitely be a Georgia fan. Can’t help but love Kirby Smart and the culture he has helped build at Georgia. Congratulations on finishing the season like champions!
He is correct, but the reason of the opt outs is because they are NOT playing for a championship and those that did play have very good NIL and injury insurance.CFB has not dealt with the NIL and transfer portal issues.
@rocknrochester that's where he learned it from.i knew a few years before Kirby got the chance he would go to ga to be the coach.he took what he learned at Bama and started it at ga.
Enjoyed this interview. I am a BAMA fan, but I SO RESPECT THESE YOUNG MEN AND ARE SO PROUD OF THEM!!. Congratulations DAWGS on a great season and a crushing Victory for your university and for your fellow brothers in that locker room.
@@ThrasherWoodruff wow! If that ain’t the pot callin the kettle black!!! Sure it goes both ways, but living in Georgia for 67 years as a Tide fan, I’ve only met a handful of UGA fans “respectful & not obnoxious “!! I have nothing but respect for what Kirby’s done
I live right in the AL/GA state line in west Ga area…I pull for UGA and Tide but pull for UGA if they play one another. I have friends that get fighting mad over Alabama and Georgia, Georgia football but I see no sense in that. It’s just a game get together. Have a good time and enjoy the fellowship.
Kirby’s comments about the NCAA are spot on. There are some bowl games this year that are a complete farce because of the timing of the portal. Not fair to the two teams and the fan bases, because the games are not a true representation of the teams that played in the regular season.
Exactly... because the Georgia/ Florida game was a flop.. almost like why play when tickets for the game was from hundreds to thousands of dollars.... and yet main players didn't play .. that makes the match up a farce and waste of time
The wisdom of Smart starting this conference off by showing love to the Orange Bowl committee and the city that hosted the game is starting to dawn on me today. He made sure his ire was directed to only one place: The committee. Very Smart.
I think you missed the point he was trying to make. Kirby was talking about how Florida states entire team was decimated, and how Georgia played against a team of Florida State practice squad members tonight. He was not talking about how Georgia deserved to be in the playoff. He was talking about how college football needs to fix this transfer portal issue Along with their selection process.
Yeah his comments don’t really have anything to do with CFP biases or decisions. It’s pretty clear he’s discussing how the timing of the portal/NIL has affected the bowl experience and value
I'm a FSU, due hart since 92 when I saw them in person. I have the upmost respect for the GA bulldogs and Kirby Smart, he a stand up guy. Can't do anything but respect it💯💯
MAD PROPS to Kirby Smart for NOT complaining about missing the CFB Playoffs and also for giving full credit to the FSU players who DID play in the game. Kirby clearly admitted that the players sitting out for FSU "effected the game 100%". CLASS ACT KIRBY SMART.
@gdcvacatons5457 But Georgia playing MTSU, Ball St and UAB doesn't have any effect on it huh? Dum dum casual fan......act like everyone doesn't play multiple cupcakes svery year.
I’m an Alabama fan but I have a lot of respect for how Georgia played yesterday. After seeing that last night it’s hard to say they are not one of the 4 best.
@@jecs2123I mean it was a close game bama got one are 2 more better plays Georgia fans are like other teams life goes on one game doesn’t make are break us we still bleed red and black yall just watch bama going to go Win the natty and good for them saban deserves to win another before he retires
They conveniently forget Clemson cost the Saban two national championships. And, FSU cost Auburn another. Btw, didn’t Fsu beat the Sec west champs last year? And, hang like 45 on them this year? I guess these clowns have a short memory?
I’m a Nole fan but I can’t say enough how impressed I am with the Georgia team. They are “Class”. I have so much respect for these players the Coach and the program. Great leadership, Great team. This is a special team. Great stuff.
They want anyone else but Georgia. They didn't want another GA-Bama rematch. They definitely didn't want another 50+ beatdown by one team over another, like last year.
Man, the one thing you see her is the respect from the coach and players for each other and the Georgia Bulldogs. Thats what builds championship teams.
7 different players on the Georgia team scored a touchdown. It was not that they kept their starters in to beat up on a team emptied by opt outs. Georgia is truly one of the top 4 teams in the country.
Georgia is 5. They aren't beating the top 4. Already got beat by Bama. Michigan would shut down the run against Georgia. Washington would pass all over them and Texas would be the worse matchup for Georgia they would stomp them.
I enjoyed listening to this interview. Such a parallel in the culture between Georgia and Alabama. Their answers to the questions were consistently what you would have expected to hear from Coach Saban and the leadership of his team. The brotherhood and player’s commitment to winning the game is so strong for both Alabama and Georgia. I have nothing but respect for Kirby and the program that he has built. Roll Tide!!!
Florida State had a chance to show up against the defending champs, and prove their own story, the players that did show up, good on you, much respect.
Prove to who? These seniors started 3-9 and fought to go undefeated and had it all stripped away because ESPN wanted Texas and Bama in. Play so ESPN can sell ads for a meaningless bowl game? Go make money in the pros where games and titles are decided on the field
I met Kamari Lassiter at a National champ parade in athens. Signed my phone case and was nothing but wondeful. So much respect for that guy. It’s been so awesome seeing someone from Savannah thrive and reach such awesome places.
Former players that get in their 40's, 50's and 60's will have regret within themselves for opting out of the bowl games. They don't see it now, but as they get older in life they will have to admit that it was a missed opportunity.
Man as a UT fan. You guys have what every school strives for. A great culture of amazing athletes that love to compete for their coaches and school. See you on the field next year. I really think yall would have won a 3rd. Let's just hope Bama represents!
I respect this comment i'm 39 yrs old i'm from Ga been a fan since i can remember but it took us a long time to get here and i'm enjoying every moment of my team success
Yep, Bama represents everything that’s wrong with the college playoffs. ESPN paid money to make sure the SEC was represented and kissed Nick Sabens ass as well. The rest of you ignorants have no idea what FSU’s culture is about. WE FOLLOW THE RULES… Alabama lost AND Georgia lost. FSU DID NOT. What part of this don’t you fools understand? Kirby gets it. HE knows this was a shit win for Georgia. Can’t wrap a piece of shit in bows. As for players opting out. Why should ESPN earn more money from the con they already pulled on the Seminoles. Mike Norvell has more class than Nick Sabin ever will! He didn’t sell out.
Wow! That’s class! As a buckeyes fan this is fantastic only wish Day could keep his guys loyal and finish out the year. Way to go Dogs!! Would’ve been nice to see you all in the championship you all deserve it. Definitely not the Tide.
As an OSU fan I have to say these are impressive young men. Hats off to Kirby and his staff for developing this team. They broke Buckeye nation’s heart last year, but kudos for a great run.
FSU players that sat out will forever be known as quitters and cowards after a month of wining about being more than one man, they were a team. Hats off to the real men on FSU that played, your teammates let you down.
The issue with the game and the current state of college football is with the lack of structure around who does what, when and how. There is no way in hell players should have the right to not play in a game and abandon their teammates. FSU was without 15-20 players who played meaningful minutes in prior game. It makes no sense how it is okay to play games 1-12 but you get to decide if you want to play in game 13. It has nothing to do with fear of injury because why play the other games if you are fearful of being hurt before the draft. Also, I don’t see how teammates can turn their backs on their brothers “FSU”.
Ya'll have to understand that some of these kids come from NOTHING. By that 13th game they know their decision from how the season went. Very hard to have a kid risk injury when they are eyeing possible millions that could change their lives and their family's lives.
Nice to see the effort these well spoken young men put in during the course of the year and their careers. Glad to see what they did at Georgia meant so much to them. I was losing faith in the College bowl game situation.
100% agree with him! Now Georgia would have won anyway I believe. If Florida state had their full roster healthy and playing it would have been a much better game absolutely no doubt. Hats off to the kids that did play because that would have sucked to be honest getting pummeled like that. I am old school and I hate the opt out deal. I understand they could get hurt, they could get hurt walking down the street. It’s a team sport and if you really care about your teammates you play the game regardless of nfl or whatever in the future.
Solid young men. Preparing for life through hard-work, disappointment, success. Watching Coach Smart as his players talk, he shows absolutely no worries about how his players will answer each question because he knows and trusts them 100%.
Great game Georgia! You guys proved why you have been repeat national Champs and deserved to be in the playoff again. As an Oregon fan and alumni, I look forward to our next meet up, hopefully we score more then 3 points 😂
@@richmoneycash1Michigan, literally caught cheating and still got in Also Washington not saying Georgia deserved to be in over them put we are definitely a better team
@@richmoneycash1deserved it over everyone besides bama. Texas don’t over GA cause they beat bama in week 3. Two totally different teams. Bama easily walks through the playoffs and walks away with the natty knowing their only competition wasn’t in the playoffs
Kirby is the leader and the program mirrors his leadership. The same can be said for Norvell. Two different approaches to being on the outside looking in and two different results. This game truly shows where the two different programs are and are heading.
If there was ever a way to cap off what could be considered a disappointing season this was it. Ga set the record for margin of victory against TCU last year in the national championship game. They set the new record against an FSU team that didn't care to compete! Not on Ga! All we can do is show up ready to play! FSU had a golden opportunity to throw dirt in the face of the playoff committee and instead completely confirmed their decision. FSU is NOT one of the 4 best teams in the country because they don't even have the team unity to accept the challenge. Instead, enough of their players showed complete disdain for the sanctity of college football to turn what could have been one of the best matchups of the year into a record setting margin of victory by Georgia! Don't give me your excuses about players opting out! Georgia had ZERO opt outs and only missed a couple of injured players! What a pitiful display of selfishness!!!
Kirby is the best Headcoach..I'm so proud of our DAWGS.. Thank you Seniors for playing when you didn't have too.. But you wanted to.. GO DAWGS.. Your always number 1 to me.. Sic'em.. WOOF WOOF WOOF..
Alabama fan here so You know. Kirby was 100% right. What a few of FSU's players did by opting out completely ruined a very prestigious bowl game. They also left their own teammates to get embarrassed on national television. Look, I understand they got left out of the playoff I get that. But these players opt outs had nothing to do with that. They didn't put their brothers on that team first. Georgia also got cheated in all of this. Their players prepared hard and came focused and ready to compete. You don't think they felt they deserved to be in the playoffs (they did)? If FSU had not had one single opt out, Georgia would have beaten them soundly. So by doing what they decided to do cost Georgia's players as well as their own. Its not just on FSU however. Players are doing this everywhere and its a damn shame to the sport that we all love. Somebody please step up and fix this!
What Nick Sabin and ESPN did to FSU is what ruined the Orange Bowl. Those guys did everything by the book and got screwed over as the first UNDEFEATED Power 4 Champion to be left out.On the other hand The SEC and a ONE LOSS Alabama have embarrassed every college football team in the country. So don’t preach at me about FSU. Mike Norvell is the CLASSIEST coach in college football. Period. Nick Sabin is the coach in ESPN’s pocket. FSU had nothing to prove to anyone. I hope ESPN lost money.
I'm not an FSU fan to be clear but if FSU had Travis and their full squad and especially the nasty defense they did have, this would've been a tremendous matchup. So I disagree with you 💯 UGA would've beaten them soundly if FSU was healthy and had their actual team they had most of the season. Both teams had a couple of sloppy games during the season, but they both are damn good teams. It's pathetic that FSU players hit the portal in epic fashion and players opted out. I knew then, this was going to be a beat down. Fsu has a culture problem. Something is going on down there with all the guys in the last 2 years transferring out to quitting on your teammates like that. So, they were embarrassed on national TV due to it as a program. Smart is correct to say things need to be fixed. The portal to NIL with players leaving to take money and all this stuff, it's not helping the game, it's crippling the game to me. Kids love go get paid, I get that, but I don't find the current state of things as great for CFB and that's just my opinion. If I were a recruit, take notice at how FSU players quit on their coach and teammates. Look at how they DID NOT do that at UGA. Much respect to the players at UGA and the program they have built. Fsu better take GT seriously when we see them next in Ireland or they will get beaten by another GA team. Roll Tide!!
@@albjamin5213 I didn’t realize Nick Saban was on the selection committee. But it’s funny you have a problem with Alabama only not Texas as well. FSUs players than opted out have taken away from knowing how they would have stacked up last night. And it’s nobody’s fault but their own.
FSU players did the morally correct thing by opting out. when someone steals something from you and the CFP is rigged, you stop participating in their games.
Can't express how much i appreciate your comments re: "fixing the problem". My husband is an FSU fan, and it hurt me for him to not get the full effect of the Orange Bowl battle against the Dawgs. Signed, his wife, a GA girl.
Nick saban said that there would be very dark sides to NIL and the portal. But all the coaches and fans said “nick saban is just mad because he won’t have the best players anymore”
Both of those guys could have gone pro last yr but came back for 1 reason, play for a natty and were denied that opportunity. Has nothing to do with lack of loyalty@@user-kq5hy8lz2w
Nope.. sec shouldn't be in the playoffs.. nor should a "deserving" team good or bad. We beat Alabama, Alabama beat ga our tie breaker supercedes theirs.
I’m not a GA fan but was in this game and Yea any player that sticks with the program through out no matter what bowl r game they play in says a lot to what they’ve built
Kirby has built an impressive program, these young men are testament to that. Listening to the themes and attitudes presented by these men, this press conference could have easily been a 2009 or 2011 Bama post game conference. The lineage is obvious with what seems like a more personal touch by Kirby than his mentor. UGA will continue to be a force as long as Kirby is at the helm. Roll Tide...and see you guys next year.
Not a fan of Georgia, but I think they are the best team in college football. It’s ridiculous they are’t in the mix for another National Championship. Alabama struggled against Auburn to the point only a miracle pass saved them. To Bama’s credit they did beat Georgia in the SEC championship, but only barely. No way Georgia should not be in the final four. Fortunately the format changes to 12 teams next year. That will go a long way towards solving problems like occurred this year.
Kendall and Kamari’s faces when Coach Smart talks about their teammates getting reps and succeeding makes me damn proud to be a Dawg fan. These two young men are the epitome of the bond created and standard set by Coach Smart. With mentors like these the young players coming up next year already are a step ahead of our competitors. Go Dawgs! Side note* I’m not gonna lie though…Kirby’s Coach Muschamp comment has me 🤣🤣🤣!
Great game Dawgs, I’m a Bama fan but letting you know I was glad to see ya’ll are not quitters and showed up and took care of business. FSU does not have the fighting instinct and mentality and honor of an SEC team and you guys proved that, I believe the FSU players that opted out and didn’t play knew UGA was was coming for a butt whooping. Good game Dawgs. No doubt UGA should have been in the playoffs !
When you say "I'm a Bama fan" you said it all. This game was a joke and not representative of anything. I would have included a 1 loss Georgia team to defend 2 natty's over a an improving but inconsistent Bama team regardless of the result of the SEC championship game.
@@rodbrock4759It's your opinion, but you have to realize that you are dealing with young people and not grown-ups in the NFL level. They were at a disadvantage when Georgia had their roster in decent shape. They had a few players that opted out but not their backup quarterback transferring and key players opting out on defense and offense. It showed up big time. Florida State looked like a very inexperienced team from missed assignments to offensively not helping out the true freshman quarterback. This game should not have been played. Florida State, great season, and unfortunately, one to be remembered for a long time. I don't understand why Alabama players played against Kansas State and Georgia players played in the Orange Bowl and Florida State players transferring and opting out to a least representing your school and teammates 🤔
Congratulations to the Georgia coaching staff. The player's showed a lot of class by showing up to play as a team. Now Alabama needs to take the S.E.C. to the top. Roll Tide. Again congratulations to The Dawgs
Just gained a whole new level of respect for Kirby. He’s the man! First coach I ever seen admit that the outcome was affected by the other team being short handed. Every other coach says the same crap. Next man up we’re missing guys too. Yada yada. A real coach that loves what he does and loves his players.
I have always been a true to the end Dawg fan and we have had some great coaching talent in our house many times. But this culture and environment that Kirby Smart has created is second to none. These players that Kirby and crew take from a high school to the end of their college careers are not just great football players but have grown into men that truly appreciate the importance of “the team” aspect that will be needed for their next chapter in life. Not just in football but life. It takes great teammates to accomplish anything in life and I can safely say that these guys that leave this great university for the next chapter will be just fine. Go Dawgs
This game has really highlighted the difference in culture between FSU and UGA. The Noles can pretend like it doesn't matter. They can excuse the players who opted out. I'd probably forgive any Dawg who opted out. But none of the Dawgs did opt out. They wanted to play. Vastly different culture.
This was probably the best team in college football this year. Alabama and Saban were able to steal the 3-peat, but if it were played 10 times, I think Georgia would win 7 of them.
You are delusional. Alabama BEAT Georgia straight up. You don't get 10 games, you get one. Alabama is better than Georgia. They proved it on the field. The best team in college football is who wins the playoffs.
I love to see the team loyalty and commitment of Georgia players. There are a lot of players in today's football that are strictly thinking like it's a business decision whether to play in a bowl game.
A couple sloppy moments cost us winning our 30th in a row, but love the teamwork and dedication. Love finishing the season this way. To be totally honest, no one outside of our fans wanted to see a 3peat anyway, and I totally get that; and time for some other teams to get in there
Yes Georgia is great. Yes, they are probably one of the top 4 teams in the country. But there’s probably 30 teams that would have beat the team FSU put on the field yesterday.
His message wasn't to the CFP committee, it was to the NCAA commissioners. Change the rules on NIL and the transfer portal, or college football is ruined. You can look forward to bowl games like this every year. And then it will start spilling over into regular season games as well. And then college football is done. The transfer portal should go back to the way it worked at it's inception, which is open once a year, and the players lose that year of eligibility. This will stop the free agency aspect of the portal, which is what is hurting the sport right now. NIL is a bit harder. I don't think players should be paid, simply because they are STUDENT-athletes who are getting a 4 year free ride to a top university in America. We've lost focus on that. The biggest argument is that the school is making money off the player's likeness...but I have never watched a COLLEGE game to see a specific player. I watch college because I love that college. Four years later, I'll still be watching that college, with a whole new roster. The NFL makes more money off of player likeness than college does, so it would make more sense there. This was just a legal way for schools to buy talent, let's call it what it is. But since it's here at least control it. Put NIL caps on schools just like the NFL has salary caps. If your NIL monies exceed your scholarship costs, you should lose your scholarship and have to pay for your own schooling. And NIL should be even across the board, for ALL players in ALL positions.
It isn’t the playoff committee that needs to see and hear this, it’s those who run college football and permit NIL and the transfer portal to essentially make college football a professional business.
This head coach and these players are why Georgia is THE GOLD STANDARD of college football. We're not going anywhere. We smoked them by 60 points and subbed out in the 2nd half. 60 lol......
