Kiri:Moto does a pretty good job of generating g-code for FDM printing and CNC machining, especially considering it's free and doesn't need installing. Testing the laser cutting mode didn't go so well..

Thanks for the sub! Plenty more coming on laser cutting and different ways to use them to make 3d forms.

The workflow we use here with Kiri is SVG export which gets dropped onto the Glowforge app for cutting. The Glowforge app provides all the power and speed controls that can't properly be encoded in the SVG. Having said that, after watching this video, I think it's time to get proper device / gcode setup going for Laser applications.

Kiri:Moto has been greatly updated since you did this review, the laser cut function now has start/end and laser on/off setup and a number of other settings. Any change you might do an update on this ?

What is the brand of laser cutter are you using mate? Pete.

It's a Emblaser 1 by darkly labs. I think I backed it on Kickstarter. We have an Emblaser 2 at work which is a nicer looking machine.
