This song alone is a good reason why rugby is the greatest sport in the entire world. The rugby culture is the healthiest and most vibrant of any sport I have ever seen.
Racism, killings, wars, diseases, human abuses, poverty, terrorism etc must be ended up in making this world centre of happiness and LOVE OF GOD, not in the way we live, thanks more DAMME KIRI TE KANAWA for encouraging world to unite
I remember this song as a child. This song is timeless, gives hope, magnificently sung with such conviction .. I’ll always remember this song, fills my heart with hope, peace and courage ❤
From the 1995 South Africa rwc version to Ria Halls version of the 2011 rwc, this is the first time I have heard Dame Kiri Te Kanawas version, and now my favourite, Wow 🤩 what a voice
Listening to this and watching my favourite player of all time, Jonah Lomu from the All Blacks, was such a great privilege. A memory I'll never forget 🇳🇿
It Is july 2022... First time I hear this Song my father brought me back from England a VHS of the Rugby World Cup 1991 (best try).... I totally fall in Love with this Song, in my opinion the best Version of RWC anthem. I was 2, now I'm 33, After 31 year I still listening It ❤️ Cheers from Italy!
I remember hearing this as a child when the World Cup was about to begin. It filled me with such hope and belief.... and then the ABs lost in the semi to Australia, who won the whole bloody thing. I didn't believe in nothin' no more, man.
Robert Trindade New Zealand is the only nation in the entire universe where indigenous culture is interwoven with its European culture. Even though they had to fight to establish it. They have done well in bringing diversity and unity together.
Wow first time I've seen it. Love they show all the different countries who play rugby. We sung this when I was a child at school in NZ. It was called "I vow"
Amen, as well as against totalitarian forces that seek to use Covid-19 to destroy our societies with racism, discrimination, and other forces that seek to divide us.
@@BB-jg2kn using the lie about a virus that doesn't exist to destroy us , several court cases have started worldwide to prove this was the greatest con in history where death statistics were manipulated and people were lied to about what they were suffering of just to make money and destroy the middle class , search Reiner Fuellmich and the court case that will make the Nuremberg trail look like a picnic
@@travelsouthafrica5048 Still waiting for the court cases. I lost a lot of friends, family and acquaintances to Covid, knob. Where can I get a RU-vid degree on Covid like you?
This song was part of my childhood. 10 years old in the UK. Remember this world cup so well - mainly because of this song. Evokes memories not just of Rugby but my childhood at that time. So powerful.
Heard this song long time ago when I was a child, loved it till now , never knew it had anything to do with rugby though .Great performance, great operatic voice, love Kiri the kanawa's version.
The world must be one family, but not in the current situation we are, the song encouraging world to be in one union as one family in reaching destiny to make everyone happy and celebrate creation of THE ALMIGHTY GOD to be part of this world, if GOD is one so the world must be one family unity and we are back to him in the kingdom as one family.
This beautiful song has so much love and strength...it should be remembered also for covid19... and the Rugby Anthem of course.....and Dame Kiri sings it with such conviction and love.....this operatic singer in my book is outstanding.....and if my mother who loved OPERA more than life itself..... died 29 years ago and she never mentioned this beautiful singer to me...!!!!
Beautifully sung! Inspiring. Such a shame we will not experience the longed for union of all peoples. Someone is at someone else's throat throughout the world every minute of every day. Just wish that asteroid would hurry up and get here and end this experiment of humans on this planet.
Dame Kiri has many styles besides opera but she did Broadway, pop country, rhythm & blues and rock & roll - the Grammy Award winning legend has it all on her resume. For 1992's "World in Union" for Sony Music Entertainment she entirely sound more different than anybody else. Joining Dame Kiri was Grammy Award nominated opera singer and vocalist Paulette Carlson (Mrs. Randy Smith, 1978-present) of Angel Classics.
The composer is Gustav Holst. This was from the tune "Thaxted". Sadly, Gustav Holst was a late 1800's and early 1900's. You can also check out the song "I Vow To Thee My Country". It has the same tune.
You forget there was a sport boycott because of Apartheid, which has been in place since the mid 70’s. I think it would’ve been awesome to watch the players of Caribbean play cricket against South Africa and have the likes of Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards take them apart in crowds of Johannesburg. That would definitely would’ve caused a racket with there African population seeing black people destroy the supremacy of Whites.
