Anyone else find it hilarious when Bakugou was flying through the air flying completely straight up.

Kirishima is actually the best. Anybody caught up on the manga has seen the light.

Regarding the generations and technology question, one episode had Deku commenting that, because of the release of Quirks, society kinda dove into chaos for a bit as they tried to settle things. He said, somewhat loosely, that had Quirks not been a thing, the human race would already be exploring space. So they're in the future but because of Quirks their technological growth got halted by societal conflicts.

I’m pretty sure All Might mentioned that when Quirks came to be that the the world was plunged into chaos. So it could be that they had to basically rebuild society, so they have been set back a few years

We don't know the full context of the hands on Shigaraki, especially the one on his face. But we do know that he freaked out at one point when it was knocked off his face, and called out "father".

In regards to how many generations its been since quirks began to appear and how many One For All users there have been, don't forget that One for All isn't necessarily a generational thing. For all we know, one of the holders of One for All could have had the power for less than five years or something. Maybe they were injured and needed to pass it on, or maybe they didn't want the burden anymore and just passed it on, potentially not to someone younger either but someone of similar age. Essentially, we could have had multiple holders in a single decade for all we know (At least I think, If there is manga evidence proving otherwise please tell me) :)

My one issue here, and it was probably just on how it was animated but... if Bakugo could launch himself fast enough and far enough to catch Kirishima’s hand... Why did he need to?

So can all for one steal a quirk like invisible girls or froppy or anyone who's body is changed by their quirk. Would they return to normal???

It was so neat to see Mt. Lady protect the kids as they escaped. I was so used to seeing her be this carefree kind of person, that when she allowed herself to be physically harmed in order to allow them to escape it just made me think, "oh right, you're a hero. It's your job to protect people. And the fact that you allowed yourself to get hurt in order to help kinda makes you cool to me."

I loved Deku's plan. And I wouldn't say the girl had nothing to do either. She put the tracker on the nomu that got them there in the first place ;) couldn't have happened without her :D

I love a villan that can respect the heros withought sounding so.. flat When he said that the jeanist power comes from mastery, it reveals a VERY unerving competence, more worrison is basically having a supercomputer with the pussycats quirk , which is often portayed as someone else far away and minmaxed to HELL for support , having both of those? A nightmare He knows that being too power hungry will foil him, and this ... IT JUST MAKES HIM REALLY UNNERVING THIS IS A MAN THAT YOU CANT JUST "BAIT" WITH POWER, HE IS COLD CALCULATING AND POWERFULL

Honestly really wish we could get Lani and Grant next week for a four man FMK, no spoilers but the hype train doesn't slow down for MHA

What a hype episode. That was terrifying and amazing to watch. My biggest criticism is that the magnetism guy's quirk was so awkward to introduce at that moment.

The animation in BnH is always amazing. But every now and then they make something super amazing. Kacchan`s scene where he takes off and flies to kirishima was one of these super amazing scenes. SO FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

All Might is the 8th holder of One For All, there's no set year but it's probably around 100 - 200 years in the future as it seems to have been said somewhere it was set in the future of what is basically an alternate timeline where people got superpowers. We don't know how long pro heroes were a thing in Japan and who was number one before All Might if he wasn't the first when they made the rankings. Also yes, he _did_ say he was originally quirkless.

I feel like Bakugo was aware enough of his situation that if MINETA was the one reaching out, he would have grabbed his hand...

Damn if I didn't love this episode, that little moment with Kirishima, the raw hatred from All-Might, the more background for Shigaraki, All for One...this is peak Shonen.

To answer their questions Izuku is the Ninth user of All for One All might is the Eighth. I remember it because All Might’s mentor Nana is the 7th and nana means 7 in Japanese.

I'm SO HAPPY we're getting guests with the other members of TFS, when this show started I was hoping we'd see Lani at some point and good to know he's also watching and loving MHA! And agreed with Scott on this being the most anticipated episode for the rescue scene, the whole fandom lost their minds over it this past week LOL this whole arc has been so well done and it's not even over yet!

Awesome episode! One thing to point out if no one else has though, All Might is the EIGHTH inheritor of OFA, with Izuku being the ninth. Each name of every OFA inheritor also has a tiny bit of each number placement, in which they inherited the power; Yagi Toshinori (All Might) having the kanji for "8" in his name, and Nana Shimura (7th inheritor) having the "nana" from "nanatsu"(7) in Japanese. ~The more you know~~

Now I want a picture of Lani being All for One and Grant being Shigaraki.

for some reason, the conflict between All for One and One for All in this episode reminded me of Asura and Lord Death from Soul Eater. the anger, conversations, power ceiling, it reminded me of the second fight of the Kishin and the Guardian.

Well, from the reaction channel Semblance of Sanity, they made the connection that All for One purposely chose Shigaraki because he is related to Nana Shimura (7th One for All user) simply to spite All Might. Nana Shimura would be about as old as Gran Torino, so she is probably Shigaraki's grandmother. All Might is the 8th user of OFA, and Midoriya is the 9th. I believe that All For One was at the start of the quirk-ocalypse (what I like to call the start of the quirks), and Deku is the 9th holder of OFA, so we're nine generations into quirks.

+FourStarBento I know you don’t like it when people in the comments go “Well actually...”, but I thought it was just worth mentioning that, yes, it has been at least seven generations (175-200 years) since Quirks appeared, probably much longer once you remember at what point in the history of superhuman society All For One and One For All appeared, and yes, the characters do acknowledge it. All Might and Midoriya even have a short conversation about how the appearance of Quirks caused such widespread chaos around the globe that it caused society and technological development to stagnate almost up until the last couple generations, and that many prominent scientists believe that the human race would be enjoying commercial interstellar travel by now if it wasn’t for the appearance of Quirks a couple hundred years ago. So yeah, My Hero Academia is actually set in the far future.

Yeah, this is probably the best episode of the season so far. Bromance, All for One on full display, angry All Might. It was great. And yeah, I like seeing a villain that doesn't treat his subordinates like garbage.

Oh boy, they think this is the pay off. Next episode will be. All Might still has to fist All For One into a semi-coma and go in public in the skinny form. And fucking believe me, that WASN'T a spoiler.

a human generation is about 20 years, izuku's mom is an 8th generation quirk holder, and midoriya's generation is about 15. this means this story takes place about 160-180 years after the first quirk appeared, and if we assume based on the technology shown in the hospital during the glowing baby scene, it looks like it takes place around now-ish. so, we can estimate the world of my hero academia to take place in about 2170, give or take a decade. this also aligns with midoriya mentioning during the explanation of one for all and all for one from all might that if quirks hadn't appeared, commercial spaceflight would be a thing by now, but the chaos of massive numbers of people gaining superpowers kinda fucked technological development for a while. so, it's just future enough for smartphones to still exist, but not so future that we're all using mindlinks instead.

Surprised they didn't talk about everybody finding out about All-Might's weakness (weak form)

To answer the question about one for all possessors being #1: I don't think so due to the fact that the hero system that we see in the manga was not in place. The reason why All Might is #1 is because he made the system. He set himself up as a Symbol of Peace, something the country had not seen before. Sure, heroes existed before then, but previous users of One for All were still storing power and refining the Quirk to defeat All for One, and All for One makes it clear that it is All Might that defeats All for One's entire organization and eventually All for One, making him the Symbol of Peace.

Shigaraki is about as competent as Deku... the only thing truly holding him back is his emotional maturity, and after this moment, Shigaraki takes a few slots in "Scheming Motherfucker".

I would be fine with adding Lani as a permanent member of the panel along with Grant. Not just for the MHA bit either mind you, the normal FMK show as well!

I've been assuming that the hand on his face is where it was when he took it from his father I think. Like he was grabbed on the face and he just grabbed back (instinctually?) and used his power (killing?), separating the hand from it's owner.

Back during the All for One plot dump, Izuku mentions that the development of quirks and the resulting societal re-adjustment set the advancement of technology back a decent ways. "If quirks hadn't appeared, mankind would be taking interstellar holidays." We can assume then that this is far-future.

*slight manga spoiler* Best Jeanist certainly appears to be dead, that was the impression I had for a long time, but apparently he JUST barely survived. Even as far ahead as the manga is he's still recovering from his injury.

Hmm I'm thinking most hero's have a pretty short shelf life, 7 inheritors of one for all probably only amounts to 50 or 60 years, also the advent of super powers may have slowed technological advancement. Why learn how to create the newest medical treatment when people like recovery girl can kiss you all better. etc

I totally feel for these guys and their inability to remember names. It does get really confusing and it took me halfway through season 2 to remember any character's name aside from Deku, All Might, and Bakugo

As far as the question of how long it's been since quirks started showing up, I seem to remember someone saying that if quirks, and the chaos they initially caused hadn't happened, humanity would be colonizing the stars by the time setting of the show comes around.

Regarding technology they mention in i think the first season that if quirks hadn't shown up humanity would probably be taking interstellar holidays by now, so technology and science progression probably halted entirely during the early quirk generations.

Come to think of it, they could have had Yaoyorozu do something for the combo too. Some smoke bombs or flashbangs would have been pretty useful for a getaway.

The explanation for the lower tech is that when the powers first started, a lot of shit happened, causing tech to go back a bit and harming technological progression for a while. They say in the manga that if it wasn't for the appearance of quirks, humans would already have been colonizing other planets.

Wasn't Ben's parody of how Best Jeanist survives actually the explanation that they give in the manga, been a while since I've read it

All might is with generation , midoryia is 9th. Also the impact to the arrival of quirks into our world held back progress of society as their was so much turmoil as society tried to adapt

All Might is the 8th Inheritor. It's part of theme in their names; ex: Nana is the 7th Inheritor, and nana is 7 in Japanese.

There's been at least five generations of quirk users, since in the first episode it was stated that Deku's mom is the fourth generation in her family to have a quirk so Deku's generation would be the fifth. With Deku there's currently been nine holders of One for All, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it was passed on from generation to generation. One or more holders may have had to pass it on to someone of the same generation for one reason or another, similar to how in Naruto the first and second hokage were brothers and thus from the same generation, so therefore Naruto's generation is only the sixth despite him being the seventh hokage. Or it may very well have been more than nine generations, if one or more holders waited until they were Gran Torino's current age before passing on their quirk to a youngster, thus skipping a generation.
