they definitely should have talked about game-to-game differences more in this whole series, especially after they did such a beautiful job visualizing game mechanics in Aincrad. I do think they gave a very short explanation or at least you can kind of grasp it, in terms of ALO dual-wielding: it is not true dual wielding, Kirito is literally just holding 2 swords but can't really use them in combination. You can see it somewhat okay here, he finishes his ice-attack with 1 sword all the way through before he does anything with the other sword. And he has to do his 4-hit combo all with the same sword. I'm sure there's other ALO scenes where everything falls apart, rules be damned. But this one is actually kinda nice.
@@Gamefreak175 I haven't watched S3 of SAO, but I feel like there should've been some way to dual wield in ALO. I know there isn't I just wish there was bc it felt short lived, like Kayaba's echo fixed a bug. I don't like it.
I'm pretty sure the 'Skill Connect' system here works like it does in Alicization Lycoris. While there is no "true" dual-wielding, there exists a window between Sword Skill uses where another Skill can be used to ignore the lag time that occurs when you use the initial Skill. Think of it like a chain. Usually you can only chain basic attacks because skills are more powerful and therefore can't be used consecutively. Skill Connect allows you to chain a limited number of Sword Skills. In Alicization Lycoris, there's a superior version called Skill Connect Ex, which activates when you connect Sword Skills in an ascending fashion. That mean using lower tiered skills to higher tiered ones, where each skill recieves a damage multiplier the further you can rise in tiers while linking skills.
its not that, he used an in-game system called skill connect. it lets a player use sword skills repeatedly without the delay from just using one individually. Kirito himself said he can use it 3 to 4 times without lagging if hes lucky.
Yea the thing is tho it’s kinda hard for him to not die while using it as you said he try not to get a delayed swing because if he did then he would be dead
The novels explain it as kirito starting a second skill just as the first one ends and chains the skills together, but the lag time afterwards do stack so if he doesn't kill his opponents by the end of his chain, then he's a sitting duck.
Let's all acknowledge that some of these movements are the same from when he used starburst stream for the first time and also how klein is literally in the exact same position when he saw kirito use it aswell
The other name for a skill connect is SSC also known as Sword Skill Chain. The higher the chain the higher the dmg output is This is hard to do (if sao is real in our life)
yep true but In SAO gameverse the SSC system of the game makes even more difficult for everyone since the time frames keeps getting smaller when chain longer
I mean, he can still equip 2 swords, he just can't use Sword Skill from the Dual Wield Skill, since that skill doesn't exist, but he doesn't need to have to skill to equip 2 swords (at least in ALO, were Sword Skills didn't exist initially). That being said, he did re-create some of his Dual Wielding Sword Skills as Original Sword Skills, but he's still unable to re-create Starburst Stream in ALO.
@@insecure8926 The Dual Wielding Sword Skill from SAO also gives him 1.8x boost to his attack speed This one doesn't And no. He did not manage to recreate a single Dual Wielding skill as an OSS. Not even Double Circular
@@argusrogue69420 Sadly, no. Sure some might have liked her and were sad, but that isn’t it. It’s because the story and how it plays out isn’t very good at times. I think it’s primarily characters like Suguha in Season 1, Part 2, where she falls for Kirito (Although my counter argument is that she only fell for him BEFORE she knew he was Kazuto).
Suguha falling inlove with Kirito ain't really something special Ppl hated on SAO cuz they wanted the adventures on each and every floor Now we're gnna get Progressive which I'm hyped for
This scene is awesome because of SSC. For who dont know about sword skill chain (or connect), in the sao games you can chain your sword skills (but you cant use different weapon's skills like this scene) Firstly Kirito using one hand sword skill with the right sword after that he using another one hand sword skill with the left sword. This makes SSC2. Then he using his dual sword skill Horizontal Square for SSC3 then finally he using Vorpal Strike which one hand sword skill and the result is SSC4. (Every SSC increase damage: Damage x SSC Bonus)
one thing, horizontal square is still a 1-handed sword skill as kirito uses the black sword for all 4 hits, ALO has no dual-blade skills as dual wielding does not exist in alo
And that is how it works I the video games of SAO but in the show and the books after you use a sword skill you get imoble for a few seconds the stronger the skills the longer cooldown but Kirito basically wile he is using 1 skill with his right hand is moving his left hand to start the second skill at just the right time less then a split second is enough to ruin it
I hope true Dualwielding gets a comeback. Skill Connect is cool, but the original Dualwielding skill is by far better and more epic. It also has no drawbacks, has more dps, better combos, gives more combo possibilities and is flawless/smooth. Skill connect looks clunky compared to Dualwielding skill. Skill connect switches the use of a weapon/sword, Dualwield uses both weapons/swords simultaneously.
The original Dual Wielding skill also gives an auto 1.8x increase to Kirito's general attack speed It is much more powerful than Skill Connect By the end of Alicization, Kirito could use both OG Dual Wielding & Skill Connect Dual Wielding thanks to his Incarnation there
I don't know how true this is and I've just seen what I can fro youtube videos but apparently scientists are like half way there with developing something similar to nervegear. again I don't know how true this is but it's what I've seen from youtube videos
Actually Kirito states in the Novel that he‘s scared of using it against Yuuki because he feels like she could adapt to it and then he‘d be left wide open
Hard to say, since Yuuki's 11 hit skill looks way faster then the skill connect. Skill connect looks like it takes time to switch between blades and skills while Mother's Rosario is an instant 11 hit barrage.
@@xShadow_MD Skill Connect is 15 hits That's more than Mother's Rosario The only issue with it is that Kirito did not master it at the time and it has a good chance of it failing
@@deft3597 Kirito never says that in the novel. Even in Volume 7 It was a very old interview for the web Novel in 2005 (which is not canon) where he said he does not want to use Dual Blades so she does not copy it
Everyone fights to their heart's content, but Asuna... She did nothing the entire fight, but then she appears from nowhere causing like, 10 damage (her sword didn't even penetrated the monster, it just touched him xD), and stealing the kill bonus
@@MixedSnowFox Her race "Undine" is specialized in healing and support magic. Members of this race can be identified by their blue hair and high mobility in aquatic environments.
She was the healer. Everyone was stunned and she was the only one that can move. Besides, who the hell cares about the kill bonus. They’re on a time limit to get the strongest sword in the game. There’s no time for bitching about stolen kills.
Vorpal strike, the skill that broke the dark repulser sword after the eclipse sword skill, the skill he last used againts gleam eye's during the starburst stream
Idk if Kirito goes into as much explanation as he does in the novel, but AFO doesnt recognize Dual Wielding as a weapon type, it also doesnt limit what a player can use in each hand, for accessibility and disability reasons, this allows Kirito to use a single handed sword in each hand, mirroring DW to a certain extent, and when AFO introduced Sword Skills, they put a cooldown on them, but they kept that cooldown exclusively to each hand, because I assume Sword and Shields exist and can counterattack after a block. Went Kirito uses one Sword Skill, he can charge the other Sword Skill while using the first one, and if he times it right, when he launches the second Sword Skill, he can launch the next one in succession. This allows him to mirror his SAO style and bypass the SS cooldowns.
so i didn't think much of it since it haven't has shown any use after this mini arc but how exactly does skill connect work and don't bother telling me to watch kirito explaining it after this fight i don't quite get it
I just need to point out a gripe I have with this arc. Kirito claims dual wielding doesn't exist and he was just chaining sword skills, but in the fairy dance arc he clearly used dual wielding against Eugene so can he or can he not?
IMO. They were playing the first ALO at that time which was just a copy paste of SAO using the similar items and skills in game.(which he has dual wielding because he's using his SAO acc) But then after the Rapey dude got defeated, he deleted his account, the original ALO got shut down. And created new servers that are user managed. Cuz of the shut down of the original game. A lot of skills were lost and probably have no data on dual wielding as it is a unique Skill like Divine Blade.
There was no unique skill dual wielding , meaning he cant use any skill related to dual wielding (e.g. starburst stream, eclipse, final revolution) . But with the new ALO system , there is this system called skill connect where in they are able to chain skills by casting it within a specific timeframe before the previous skill animation ended up to x number of times. What he did her was chain on handed sword skills usinf his left and right hand via skill connect
@@shiori2182 I'm not talking about this fight, I watched this episode and they explain like you just said dual wielding isn't a thing and that in order to fake replicate it you need to chain sword skills from your left and right hands. however, in his fight against Eugene in the fairy dance arc, we see him pick up a second sword and start dual wielding without skills (indicated by the fact that their swords glow when using skills).
What he meant by no dual wielding is there was no extra skill dual wielding meaning he cant use any skills relates to dual wielding. But he can use 2 1H sword at once just like he did on fairy arc fight and here. And what he meant by replicating is the usage of skills
@@christianha3092 thing is, there are actually two different version of ALO that we see directly, the first is when Kirito first logs in, and it has NO Sword Skills at all just magic, everything is based on actual player skill. the second is this version, which added SAO style Sword Skills at some point prior to this. how doers this apply you may ask. in the fight with Eugene, or how ever you spell it, it is during the first version of ALO prior to Sword Skills being introduced, and so Kirito is able to pick up a second sword and use it that way, because in theory you could do so IRL which is how the sword fighting worked in that version. but after the update, like this fight, they have Sword Skills now, which once triggered are basically the game taking control for the action allowing any one to do everything the skill entails, but the downside is that the skill has to EXIST to allow them to use it. in summary, the fight with Eugene was in a different version that may as well have been a different game with different mechanics.
TBH, what Kirito did is nothing new or special to anyone that player fighting games slightly more than casual Sundays of Smash with friends. Nowadays analyzing frame data (basically precisely how long each attack takes until it starts dealing dmg, how long it stays active and how long until a character can do their next action) is pretty common. I mean, Kirito literally just cancels one move into another, which was present in fighting games since first or second Street Fighter game, so ALWAYS.
