RU-vid started putting my comment in strike through font, and I am going to try and add my two cents worth about your pinned videos as well as today's live... it is unnerving, since it doesn't appear that way until it posts... very curious... Aloha from Big Island
Hermanos, (Dan explain to Ksenia I mean both of you here!! ; -) I did catch and binge watched the first try Trial 2, and Lars' two corresponding videos as an ordered playlist, since I was quite late to catch the live and participate with comments that day and since then. I am just a little later for live today, Really all very good work, and god how the time flies even though as Vaun pointed out in chat, you guys might have started out on a three hour tour but have really stretched this journey out, yet have made it seem like fresh little vignettes of spontaneity- the enjoyment in little things is vastly underrated for most Americans unfortunately, until they open their eyes , and many thanks that you and Ksenia are putting such effort into providing these vignettes!
Kirov was founded in the XII century by Novgorodians, and according to one of the legends, like the Russian capital, stands on seven hills. The city was called Khlynov, then Vyatka, and received its modern name in 1934
Your comment is beautiful and inspiring thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed and maybe shared with some people who never seen westerners show love to Russia 🫡🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing this beautiful old city, the churches are fine coloured marine green the catholic brick red, typical russian style. The environment is peaceful with parks ponds, ducks birds, very pleasant for a walk. Buildings are very colourful too, memorials are decorated with flowers, and eternal fire, so meaningful to appreciate the fighters of the past. Indeed the old cold car is interesting I like it. Have a good day, love to Xenia.
I will always try my best to unite us all under a banner of friendship. I love Russia and I can love it while loving my own mother land. with a lot of respect I visit your cities and admire them 🙏🏻
Late to the show because I'm working on the new house... :) I like Kirov. For a 500k city it's not bad at all. Founded in the mid 1200 century. I also like that in some places, you can see really far, as the city is built on a series of hill tops. Nice tour of Kirov bro and thank you for not showing the broken parts :) Sad you did not had time to fish.
Thank you for the excursion! I did not expect Kirov to be so beautiful. As we say in Russia "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so thank you for showing the city like this. Jews 2.5k years celebrate Purim - the holiday of salvation from the genocide. For us, May 9th is something similar.
Never ever have I been and, probably, would I be either in that city, just do exploring it by your eyes. Bundle of thanks for spending you time and filming. Btw your videos turn to be far more professional time by time.👍🙂
Hi Daniel, i admire your trait to be able to get joy from something simple as buildings in a small town, i'm such a person myself, i can get fascinated even if i see an interesting pattern in mud, needless to say about something that has history and complexity, human-made or natural, architecture, machinery or forests and animals, you name it. Of course it's nice to look around when everything is repaired and neat, but as long as i see some progress being made i'm totally okay with some broken paint or sidewalk, it's not a big deal, it'll be fixed in the future. What really sucks is negative trend when you can see that ahead is only desolation, that's when it becomes sad. It's of course possible to find beauty in desolation also, just as in your video about abandoned village, but the feelings are mixed in such cases Anyway,
you are so kind thanks for your support thanks for the time you took to comment! I try not to make things sad even in the abandoned village. I try to preserve things
Awww :) Thanks very much for this video! I was there in July this year, walked the same streets as you, went down the stairs (because my hotel was near the end of it) and a couple of times I did it after 23.00 with my smartphone and debit card. Kirov was absolutely safe. Next year the city will celebrate its 650th anniversary! Not many people know, Kirov has a good paleonthology museum on the 3rd floor of the local puppet theatre. The museum tells about ancient flora and fauna, has some models and samples of ground with real bones. 20 species of dinosaurs were found in Kirov region near the town of Kotel'nich. Kotel'nich even has an open-air 'dinosaur park' where you can enjoy the nature and look at dinosaur models. My 1st property, my holiday home is not far from Kotel'nich, and this year they've laid 43 km of gas pipeline there, so even small towns are improving.
I got curious and googled ’’Catholic church’’ on Google Maps, in Irkutsk. It looks like there are two. Then I looked up the total number of churches in Irkutsk, and apparently there are more than forty. So here you go : overwhelming majority of churches in Russia are Christian Orthodox. Bigger cities do have synagogues, mosques, and Catholic churches, but nowhere near the number of Russian Orthodox churches.
What more funny - most of them - are based in former Rich Houses of People of Russian Empire and etc. For example - One of Catholic Churches in Saint-P. (Yep, Russian one, lol) exist in former House of some rich boyar (Rich people back then) of Russian Empire. And this Church - are near Troickiy (Holy Trinity's - if you gonna translate) Cathedral/Sobor. If you need atleast closest subway to this place - it is "Technologichecskiy Institut". Go from subway - towards Trinity Sobor on right side of the street, and check signs. This church somewhere near of McDonalds restaurant. There also, exist(!) a full Catholic Church in Saint-P - but only on Nevskiy Prospekt, and it stand away from people and road.

Friend, thank you for your work! Beautiful city and great video! You have a very nice wife! You are a wonderful couple! God bless you, may you be fine!🥰Greetings from Russia, the city of Orel!
Thank you for the video about one of my favorite towns in Russia! Just a little note: what’s called carp in Russia is very different from what’s called carp in US. Russian carp is smaller and much tastier (like white or striped bass) although it has lots of small bones.
If you cook the fish in this way, the small bones will be friends and you will not feel them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hokx0J9e-Vc.html Unfortunately, I didn't find a video with English subtitles! But, they are not needed here! Just finely chop the fish to the central ridge as shown in this video, sprinkle with flour and fry!
Walking in this street feels like a beautiful painting down to earth, man. 🖼 The buildings look like they stood the test of time really well. Wow, Russia!! 😲
Time code: 5:54... indeed an interesting building. I always focus in on the windows in the basement level... makes me wonder what the basement looks like. TC: 7:45... I really love Russian windows. I love how they paint their window borders white, and buildings painted pastel colors. Don't like the lavender much but yellows and blue greens are favorites. TC: 15:00. WOW... that's such a beautiful church. What a treasure this city has.
I don't know why you chose Kirov for travelling, but it was certainly a very good choice. We saw a lot of tours in Moscow and St.Petersburg, but not many from province of Russia. And you are a very good guide, it was interesting to watch. PS. Russian Orthodox churches have round domes, while catholic ones are built in gothic style.
Awesome tour man, you really did this city justice. To me, there’s something so special about it can’t really put my finger on it, really good job, nice long video, I’ll prob come back and watch this a few times you did a good job of showcasing the vibe of the city
We are almost there! the goal was 5k for the year! and it’s been 5 months and it’s almost 10k now the goal is 10k by end of June! thanks for the massive support!
Hi guys. Great video. You have been in Ekaterinburg, now it’s time to visit Chelyabinsk on you way back home. PS to see for Chebarkul meteor for example… :)

Thanks a lot for watching the Kirov episode! it’s nice to see comments from the people who lived there! Consider sharing it with others from Kirov I love seeing the comments from the natives thanks again 🙏🏻
Enjoyed this a lot, seeing new places. Traveling enriches us. I have done a share of it. Those churches in Russia are beautiful! The colors of them, details. Yes , beauty is in details. Squares in town centres without cars are a thing in Slovakia also, very enjoyable . thank you for sharing. Regards Jana

I love morning walks. Siberia wow we in Rotorua NZ know so little about your region. So it would be great to stroll around your city. Anyway hello to you both! J.
Morning walks sure are soothing less traffic less noise less of the bad things in general and more of the good! Thanks for watching thanks for the support !
@@Wild-Siberia Yes, we have such a strange joke in Russia, if a foreigner, then you need to ask him :- "you are not a spy", this is from the Soviet times, we just have a lot of jokes about foreigners, the KGB, and spies!!!
The first settlements on the territory of present-day Kirov, the Vyatka from 1457 to 1934, appeared about 2.5 thousand years ago. We have an old Russian saying about people on the spot: Vyatskiye - the men are dashing. The seven together don't fear one )))
An amazing morning walk through the still sleeping city, very atmospheric! Another decent city review! Thank you for showing a broken ladder, sometimes to fix something, you need to publicly point it out. I'm Russian, by the way, from my experience I can say that often Russian people often complain about such things to each other without making any real attempts to fix it, and that's why nothing can be done for a long time, although sometimes it's only necessary to contact the appropriate authorities responsible for solving the problem and the problem can be solved quickly and the more people will to do this, the more efficiently the system will work. I am glad that now there are more opportunities in Russia to solve such problems remotely, via the Internet, there is less bureaucracy and it really mostly works
Yes I actually was told by many Russians don’t visit Kirov it’s ugly and has nothing well I woke up very early to enjoy the city and I believe that the city is beautiful and will fix a lot of its issues in the coming years! thanks for such an awesome comment!
A nice, peaceful morning walk. What amazes me is how clean the streets are. The guys taking a leak on the wall were probably still drunk. I'm not catholic, so I don't know; is orthodox still catholic? Just more traditional?
I did like the blue/green church 👍 and walking down the road at 4am ,, in the daylight??? Bro it's still dark at 4am even mid summer with a full moon background is not as bright as that,,,, those end steps almost look earthquake damaged? They probably have a story behind them, that tells why they'restill broken,,, love the walk traffic streets .My mother always said she would like to see Russia, to see the natural sites but me ,,,I have no ambition for passports and world travel. I thank you for sharing ❤ 🕊 💚
You talk about colorful buildings. From the trainstation you can see some buildings with rings in diffrent color. That is not what to expect then you are in russia for first time its really nice to se.
your girlfriend, as a resident of Transbaikalia, could tell you the most interesting detail of Kirov: 45% of the descendants of the first Russian settlers in Siberia bear Vyatka (Kirov) surnames, about 45% more - Ustuzhan (Veliky Ustyug) and about 10% - Belarusian. and this rule applies both in western Siberia and in Transbaikalia, and even in Alaska among the small Creole population. by the way, there are very few of these surnames - about 300. according to one version, the Vyatka surnames are the surnames of members of Ermak's gang, and the Ustyuzhan and Belarusian surnames are the surnames of soldiers of the government detachment sent by the tsar to help Ermak. but, this is just a version! the fact is that these 300 surnames are found absolutely everywhere in Siberia - at every gold mine, every oil rig and every bear corner, while in the European part of Russia they are massively found only in these regions.🙂
Yeah, not saying "Kirov reporting" and "Changing position" with heavy Russian accent in the beginning and the end of the video respectively is a totally missed opportunity 😅
You're right, Danny, if I didn't know any better, I could say we are visiting a North American city, with Russian architecture here and there. The signage is different of course, but you have walk/don't walk signs too, traffic lights as we do, beautiful architecture, as we do, even scooters waiting to be ridden along the pedestrian streets. You have QR coded signs. You have stocked fishing ponds for old fellas to dip their line in on weekends. It is so sad how media demonizes certain people and how Hollywood depicts some people as backward, criminal, suspiciously sneaky, and so on. People are human. We love to eat, to drink, to see beautiful things, to see a smile, to learn, to be left unharmed, as do you.

I was born in the Soviet Union, but never been in the eastern area of Russia. Thanks to you I can see some of it. Dan try saying irkUUUtsk, not Iiirkutsk , put a stress on U in the second syllable , 😀
Holy shit! I live here and do walking almost every day through these places. In summer 2024 there will be 650 years since city of Kirov was founded and park where you were walking (starting 18:56 on this video) is gonna be renovated. As you saw there was many broken stairs and track for walking. And park itself looks a little bit tired. Need to fix some things. Shame but I don't know many history things about my city. Need to explore asap. Anyway, good to see my home city in your video. Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching please do share it with Kirov people show them they are appreciated. I loved walking that early morning one of the best times of my life seeing an entire city without almost any cars! beautiful history!
Great video! I've never been to Kirov, but now I want to go there, the place looks very nice. About wooden houses. I live in St. Petersburg, and we don't have many wooden houses left. However, those that are still preserved are either very interesting or very beautiful (or both at once). The oldest wooden building in our city is the House of Tsar Peter 1, it was built in 1703 in just 3 days (as you understand, the house is very simple)). Then a stone building was built around it to preserve it. Several interesting wooden or partially wooden, partially stone houses are located on Kamenny Island (this is the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg). For example, the Kamennoostrovsky Theater, which was built in 1827. The most interesting thing is that theaters like this were usually built for only one season (more precisely, for the summer), but it still exists and is still a theater. And a few years ago it was restored and an absolutely amazing thing was done: to build basements under the building, a building... was hung in the air. And in the Primorsky district of the city there is a wooden building built even earlier, in 1825. This is Shishmarev's Dacha, now there is a children's art school there. Probably, these are the three oldest wooden houses in St. Petersburg. But there are others built in the late 19th - early 20th century.
@@Wild-Siberia Thanks) It's great that you and Ksenia will come to our city again! If you want, I could show you these houses I've been talking about, and some others. To be honest, usually tourists coming to St. Petersburg are limited to Nevsky Prospekt, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Palace Square, the arrow of Valilevsky Island, the Peter and Paul Fortress. And there are many other very interesting things here. For example, I really love the Petrogradsky district, there are a lot of magnificent Art Nouveau buildings there (and wooden houses too)))
I’ve lived here over a year now I’m from Irkutsk oblast I live next to baikal. I welcome you to watch some older videos and maybe share thank you so much!
Hello! I live in Kirov and I was really surprised that someone made a video about my city😮It is so pleasantly))) P.s.: video quality is very good! What device did you shoot with?
