Continuing with the narrative of my previous mission, Vladivostok, Ready for Ber shows the secret mission of the Kirov, flagship of the Soviet Pacific fleet. The plan is to race to secure or kill high value defectors on the island of St. Lawrence!

Looks like RU-vid compression didn't enjoy how dark it was. My apologies, I don't have a plan for more night missions but in this case I did want to show off the atmosphere of the weather. I will say when you play it yourself it is much better.

Yeah, I'd say I'm happy with the interception rate of missile, especially on the NATO side as they're no longer a very expensive fireworks display. The only thing that I'm not too crazy about is how fast the damage on the ships spreads even on the moment of impact, and how fast they sink since I like the thrill of the damage control parties battling hours or even days to save their ship (regardless if they succeed or not).

Tbf granits have a very large warhead plus alot of kinetic energy behind them.

very true, there should be a lot more ambiguity to the life of ships and whether they can be saved or not. especially in the case of the dynamic campaign if it is anything like War on the Sea. having ships get hit once and then always having three fires start across the ship, and for the ship to immediately be classified as sinking definitely subtracts from the game quite a bit

A hit from a Tomahawk or Harpoon yes, but the Granits and Shipwrekcs have about 1 ton TNT. Made to hit and kill a CVN, so yea, no small ship stand any chance of survive.

@@filipearthur5379 Even then, it should be somewhat localized, and by that I mean the immediate area should be on fire and completely and utterly unrecognizable, but not cause the entire ship to have chain reaction explosions like "it's just good business" type deal.

@@adamtruong1759 You got any examples of a 1000kg war head hitting a war ship full loaded with it's own warheads that survived? HMS Sheffield was hit and sunk by a single Exercet missile. Exercet only carry's 165kg of explosive. Shipwreck missile would destroy anything it hits IMO.

I wish devs would add a "night vision" mode view because it's genuinely hard to see anything at night times. I don't think it will detract from anything since we do not control units directly anyway, but it would be still nice to see more clearly what units are doing by themselves meanwhile.

+1 to a higher contrast mode. That may be important to have for bug reporting when it is cloudy in game and at night.

Spruance = DD Kidd = DDG Ticonderoga = CG. All three classes built on the same hull design with different superstructures and weapons systems.

Chinese ships aren't in the game yet. I don't think there are any aircraft in Chinese livery yet either, though at least some of the types they operated exist in game.

The port Petropavlovsk is at the south east of Kamchatka peninsula, but i dont know if that port is a naval base.

It's one of the two main Russian (Soviet) Pacific fleet bases.

It very much is a naval base, the Soviets based attack submarines there, as well as surface assets. The closed city of Vilyuchinsk served as their main submarine repair base there, and they could handle ships as large as a Kirov there for supply and maintainance at least, though I am not sure about dry-docking as a Kirov is much larger than even a Typhoon. They also had/have Ust-Kamchatka bay as well, thogh I believe the facilities there are somewhat less impressive, it at least provides a safe harbour for resuply and repair.

Does Sea Power use quick group/formation assignment like a lot of other strategy games? Ctrl + (1 through 0) to assign. Shift + (1 through 0) to recall/select.

The game is great, but it needs rebalancing and AI improvements. The Tico, which was the best AA platform of its era, with its AEGIS designed specifically to counter the ruSSian threat, so I find it a bit surprising that it wasn't able to defend itself against 3 missiles, and the same could be seen in other scenarios played by other youtubers.

​@@jetfighter200VLS isn't really relevant in this case, the Mk 26 has a similarly high rate of, the main advantage of VLS was to enable ships to carry large numbers of Tomahawks.

@@jetfighter200 not sure if that impacts the rate of fire tha much, but I was more surprised to see how often they miss. Another RU-vidr, not sure which one, played this scenario and I'd say 95% of his AA missiles missed the mark, which I find a bit unlikely, given how badly the ruSSian "wonder weapons" perform in real life.

SAMs got rebalanced recently to hit AShMs more often. They used to almost always miss, but they're still unreliable. Leaving aside debates about realism, the game would get uninteresting if US battlegroups could just swat down any missile attack coming their way. From that perspective, it shouldn't take very many Granits (the rare, absolute meanest thing the Soviets have) to break a Tico. Edit: Also bear in mind that the Tico was at EMCON as the missiles approached, meaning she got less forewarning about them.

@@DecidedlyNinja I'm always in two minds about realism vs. playability. I lean towards realism, meaning russian equipment being the quality that it has in reality, but giving the russians the advantage of numbers. The same seems to be the problem in games like WARNO, which on the one hand meticulously recreate the looks and parameters of thousands of types of equipment, but then on the other hand they equalise their parameters to make the two sides equal. For example, having had experience with both soviet and Western-design tanks and their thermals and fire control systems, I put it to you that a single Leopard 2A4 should be able to destroy at least three T-80s from ambush before they even saw where he was, while in WARNO the T-80s are by far the most advanced and dangerous tank and the Leopards are clearly inferior in the game. So, basically, I'd go for quantity for the Soviets and quality for late-Cold war Western equipment (early-Cold war, a lot of the Soviet equipment was actually better).
