Good stuff! I appreciate your thorough presentation of the history, your analysis, and comments on your own experience with the cartridge. It's a piece that's way out of my price range, but I can apply the kind of thinking that you have displayed here in my personal R&D. Many thanks.

I own a Koetsu Black and I’ll have it traded in on a new one. The Kiseki is probably a better match to a wider selection of tone arms because of its higher compliance. I recommend you ask your salesman or several saleslmen/or saleswomen to be sure if the Koetsu will match whatever you install it on because if it’s not compatible you will not enjoy it at all.

A Hana ML was sounding perfectly acceptable in my rig prior to introducing the Kiseki Purple Heart, now, with the Purple Heart, the sound of my stereo has spoken, opened. The first time I heard the Kiseki I immediately thought of master tape. This Kiseki is every bit the show stopper the old Monster Genesis 1000 was though with more body, more of "it". At 30hrs into the break-in period this Kisekei absolutely "sings". Thanks, Guido!

I just looked up my warranty and one year…I reached out to Kieski by email today to find out if they are willing to help otherwise its wasted money. Ill let you know.

@@anadialog Thanks, Guido,for sharing with your experience. I really appreciate what you are doing with your deep analysis of every subject presented. My standpoint was based on experience when listening to brand new hi - end devices and hearing 👂 with my ears that music streaming quality is the same or even better than coming fromCD. The digital signal conversion quality to analog was amazing. Before that I used PC as a source together with DAC and sound was OK but not as good as with the devices used later. Anyway original sound signal nowadays is recorded in digital format therefore it is really state of art to manage to get high quality conversion for the analog sound which in my opinion was done successfully. I have told you an absolute truth in terms of converted analog sound quality which might contradict with your statements, I am sorry…

Thanks, very interesting. Also have admitted that loading is not so crucial - my Hana SL (bought by your advise to look into Hana) has recommended loading 400 Ohms, but works from 100 to 1000 Ohms well. Actually I found it sound better with 1000 Ohm loading - just as you with Kiseki. I didn’t think that subsonic filters make such a difference - after playing with my Lehmann Audio Black Cube SE II (also bought from your advice) and cutting all below 28 Hz - huge difference. Thinking to replace my Hana SL with Dynavector DV-20X2. Have you had an ability to compare those cartridges? Maybe those cartridges are pretty similar and I should consider bigger step-up than Dynavector DV-20X2?
@anadialog
@anadialog 2 года назад
Thank you so much for your comment and for your trust. The Dynavector maybe would give you a Slightly better experience but not a day and night difference. I would invest in a better cart or perhaps a better phono preamp even though the Lehmann is quite special. You need to spend at least 4 times it's price to get better quality.

no link doesn't show up! should have a look at the new Goulding Ethos it's got some high praise! £900 and people saying it's good as a £4000+cartridge, I can probably believe that make some outstanding cartridges. I've got the Golding 2100 moving iron, and made a wooden body for it out of rosewood about 3-fold improvement and that is a fantastic cartridge in its on right!! highly recommended if on a budget or not I think about £160 always try to get moving iron! got a choice of getting the new golden ethos, or I'd like to try and get a sapphire cantilever, with a nude ml styli, I put it on my cartridge. not sure how much that's going to cost! you know where I can get one from who supplies encounter levers and the styli? I can replace it myself. check out the Goulding ethos if you get a chance. happy New year!

Just get to discover how much clueless I am wrt sound. I must admit I found this video just searching for a good recommendation to improve my AudioTechnica 120 BT, at start I though of phono amp but looks like first goes the cartridge for a reasonable step improvement. @charlesmckinnis2718
@charlesmckinnis2718 2 года назад
My response to you is; this guy doesn't really know what he is talking about. For your money, buy an audio technica AT 150sh (Shibata) for $399 retail and forget it. That's about as good as it gets, practically speaking...a moving coil will give you a bit smoother detail as the Audio technica AT-OC9xsh for $649 retail, but then you need a head amp and a system to actually hear all of the subtle differences...but good start. When up grading anything, start at the SOURCE and the cartridge IS the source. You can skimp on the turntable is you need to, until a better turntable is financially feasible. Then go on in progression to the speakers. I am 69 years old, been an audiophile for 50+ years and was in the business through out the 70's. Modern HiFi hype disgusts me, it boarders on Fraudulent "Truth in Advertising" and JUST WRONG. I hope that helped.

Welcome Jose Maria! Don't be shy, as you can see RU-vid unfortunately is full of presumptuous and fast judging people. I would say that the phono preamp is just as important as the cart, because one demands the other in any case the cart is the heart of everything so starting from there is a good idea. As I always say a good MM requires a little extra investment respect to an MC. MM are easier to amplify because they have a higher output so this choice is also dictated by your phono preamp. If you are using the one inside the AT then I would start from the phono preamp...

Yeah the Japanese cartridge that is not available in Japan. Same goes for brands like Miyajima, Hana, Transfiguration, Lyra etc.. Some of them are OEM brands, some of them are just not designed for domestic market. With the increasing popularity of vinyl playback and shortage of capable high end MC cartridge makers or what we called "職人" Shokunin here, this is probably the best chance to get yourself a nice Kiseki cartridge. Congratulation, wish I could hear it in Japan.

Going back to the Lyra, I don't find their house sound "correct" for me a lot of the complex tonality and timbre of real instruments is missing from their cartridges so I don't consider this correct or even neutral. Anyway, glad you have tried something else and that its giving you something you didn't experience with the Kleos. If you ever want to try another brand I'd recommend the Swiss engineered Benz Micros, they have excellent sounding cartridges and have an even handed approach when it comes to playing music of all genres.

Not a lot Lyra aficionados here apparently. I had Koetsu black, Kiseki blue Ns, and Lyra. Heard Benz micro too. Lyra, for my ears, is the most well balanced, neutral, and lively. Koetsu is the nicest, but lacks cruelly real life dynamics. Kiseki, on my past SME 20/2a was the worst, something not right in the timbers . Benz LPS was good, soft and nice, but a bit dull for my tastes ( with ASR Emitter reference phono). I would like to try Van den Hull one day, should work for me if I refer on a lot of descriptions.

I would like to hear the difference between a decent CD player output and the same piece played by a DAC.
