A song about Convict Leasing, a prison labor system in the Southern United States of America that targeted black men through vagrancy laws, sent them to prison to be leased as hard labor for private companies.

I was so blown away by how melodically beautiful this song is that it took me hours to even realise the beauty of its storytelling. What a gem.
