Marc Leclerc: The Alpinist. Watched the documentary/film a few days ago and brought intense memories of rock climbing days; this song appears at the end, the lyrics and music fit perfectly.
That's crazy dude. I listened to this albulm from I am the antichrist to you song from Rick and Morty then boom I'm like I recognize this song. From what's now my favorite Doc The Alpinist. Watched it twice start to finish. Once by myself then with my dad. What an awesome albulm so far
Verse 1] I wrote me a book I hid the last page I didn't even look I think I locked it in a cage Wrote a novel 'Cause everybody likes to read a novel It started with a word And it started pretty well About a rare and fragile bird That I couldn't even spell On the table I think I left it on the table I found the last page in the sky Cold and sweet, like an apple I found you and now the story has its proper end [Chorus] Oh hello, will you be mine? I haven't felt this alive in a long time All the streets are warm today I read the signs I haven't been this in love in a long time The sun is up, the sun will stay All for the new day [Verse 2] The very last breath of the hero of our tale Would leave you only to guess Did he truly prevail In the sequel? I guess I'll have to write a sequel My favorite part's when I die In your arms like a movie It's tragic, but now the story has its proper end [Chorus] Oh hello, will you be mine? I haven't felt this alive in a long time All the streets are warm and grey I read the signs I haven't been this in love in a long time The sun is up, the sun will stay All for the new day [Outro] Will you be mine? The days are short and I've wrote me my last rhyme All the streets are warm today I read the signs I haven't been this in love in a long time It's been a long time
I tried to sing the song without the music, its so difficult, I think because its a cleverly composed piece rather than a pop generic sound. Its fantastic. xx
What a profound song. It is the sound of falling in love. Perfect, beautiful, poignant, nostalgic, longing, receiving, giving, yearning,, losing, crying, laughing, watching yourself, watch yourself, being in the moment, being outside of the moment, embodied out of body experiences. Love lost, love remembered, love reclaimed.
I guess they're just reuploading these because of Rick And Morty, but I hope new listeners get to feel the same way as I did when I first heard this album, and this song in particular. Thanks KB
Nah, just "I am antichrist to you" is the catchy one, but these last songs of the album aren't touching me at all. No vibes. dunno, just don't feel anything
I remembered when I first listened to this album in high school, and pirated it onto my mp3 player (because i was penniless, and paypal, itunes and international credit cards weren't even a thing in my coutry) , it was like my treasure. Since then, many legit-purchased cds and digital copies later, I've actually immigrated to Manchester. In 2017 and 2019 i get to go to Kishi Bashi's live concerts, at Soup Kitchen and YES - both times he played this song in the encore and it was so magical I started crying in the crowd =))
Came here looking for this song after watching "The Alpanist". What a documentary & what a song! Life can beautifully joyful as well as painful! As Marc had said to Brette, you must carry on & move forward. I think that is what everyone should do :) With a good heart leave the grudges behind & move on!
I knew the story so I couldn't bring myself to watch it. Seeing the photograph of his rope was all I could take. It takes more than I have in me to do that stuff. Finally watched it and happy I did. Beautiful film and great song choice to close.
As many others I just discovered this after I Am the Antichrist For You was featured in Rick and Morty. And this song in particular moves me so much. It’s hauntingly beautiful. And I am so glad there are many live recordings already uploaded in RU-vid from many years ago… (I recommend the Buzz sessions). I wish I knew this guy way before. He deserves so much recognition.
Yah I also discovered him through that. His music is like the culmination of my life’s musical journey. Every band I’ve like combined and then something emergent was created and it was Kishi Bashi. Passion Pit, Fleet Foxes, the Shins, Joe Hisaishi, Fun., Lumineers, Two Door Cinema Club, Alt J…. There’s a taste of all them in every song but every song is so different. It’s often this mercurial soup where there isn’t a melodic through line but these hints of these main melodies that wash over you across many different instruments. But I can’t say that’s universally true for all his songs but there’s usually at least one point in each where it happens and it’s always glorious. I’m so glad Rick and Morty so heavily featured his song
I first heard this song on my first adventure out of my city of Winnipeg, to a smaller “town” in Brandon, Manitoba. I was laying in this guys bed who was my first kiss(blegh to him now btw, lol) like 10 years ago. But so remember the feeling this song gave me, so I looked it up by some of the lyrics I had heard and managed to find it. It was winter and this song will always bring me back to that time. It was playing I believe on the university students radio channel at the time. The feeling this song gives is like no other. It is a genuine little masterpiece of it’s own. 💗
Have been watching The Alpinist twice and searching for the end song and eventually come up here. Great composed song great lyric matched with movie. Kishi Bashi you are amazingly pure talent. Keep up with great work dude.
