Kumar Abhaas Ganguly- the chota bhai of the Ganguly brothers- elder brother Ashok Kumar (Dadamoni- Jewel of an elder brother) (1911-2001)- the one in my opinion who was the brains in the family- he was a lab assistant before "accidentally" becoming an actor with Devika Rani and Filmistan- Achut Kanya (1936), Kismet (1943)- the suave ocgarette smoking villain. Afterwards he played supporting roles in the 1950s'-60s' & early 1970s'. With the talents of the trimurthy- Raj Kapoor (1924-1988), Dev Anamd (1923-2011) & Dilip Kumar to Rajendra Kumar (1929-1999) to Dharmendra to the King of Romance Rajesh Khanna (1942-2012) & even the Angry Young Man himself Amitabh Bachchan. Anoop Kumar- the middle son who was in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958)- Kishore passed the family home Gouri Kunj onto him before his demise. And of course- actor, director, producer, musician, lyricist, playback singer- Kishore Kumar (1929-1987). He started as a chorus singer with Bombay Talkies before he was taken seriously by Kemchand Prakash in Ziddi (1948) which was not only his first film in which he was a playback singer. Encouraged by Ashok Kumar to take up acting- he preferred singing "Acting is fake, singing is from the heart"- he declared to Lata Mangeshkar in a Face to Face interview- (his last interview). Kishore Kumar gave playback to the majority of actors of the silver screen- Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor & Rajeev Kapoor. It is said that Ashok Kumar taught Kishore to sing until no one could sing like him- I don't really buy into that!!
