@Julia13ization Perhaps. There is that certain element of emotion that the surprise can add - but what if she didn't want him to, and he did, and bad things came of it? It's a sort of courtesy, to make sure that one does not do something that another may not like. But; Aye. Asking about these sort of things does remove some of the.. flourish, if you will. Takes the magic out of the moment.

The book is based on Darren Shan/O'Shaughnessy's life. Darren O'Shaughnessy is Irish in real life. Why is this dude in the movie American (+ he talks in an American accent rather than Irish)?
