I am a massive Hanoi Rocks fan from CT...and I fully realize most people in America don't know who they were. So it was really funny to me that one time, while staying at a hotel in Newington, CT for a wedding, my GF and I were outside the hotel enjoying breakfast, and there was a table near us of 4 people, the oldest being around 50. I was wearing a Hanoi Rocks shirt. The 50 year old woman turns to me and in a thick accent says, "Ahh...Michael Monroe, Hanoi Rocks!" I was stunned. Turns out they were from Finland lol
Lol, very nice!!! Hanoi Rocks were & are OUTSTANDING!!!!!!! Much like The New York Dolls they inspired so many musicians & bands, but never got that push over to be as massive as they should be!!!!!!! I love them!!!!!!!
Yay! Seems the cool people come from CT! I used to sing in a local band for years and I prided myself on one of my stage presence/image influences being Mike Monroe. Are you a Hanoi fan?

Ah, a Hanoi fan! I knew you were cool. What instrument do you play? I sing lead but I was a drummer first. Played in bands from approx. 1986 to 1996. Hard rock, glam, original music. recorded and played tri state. We should jam! I don't have a kit anymore but I still have pipes. I love Kiss, Queen, Beatles, Alice, Zep, T. Rex, Slade, Sweet, Jellyfish and many types of music. No rap or country, however. On any given day I will be listening to Barry Manilow and Slayer as well lol. I love love love music. i saw hanoi rocks in september 1984 at a small club, about 3 months before razzle died. they were a lot better than okay back then. the show kicked ass!! and a little sweeter when i was 20 years old. every band was on tour and i saw them all

From what I've seen Michael was 100% right about that :) It's all about money and bitches when it comes to Gene. Mike on the other hand is one of the nicest rockstars around, if you ask Slash or finnish people.

True…I don’t think Hanoi would be the same without Razzle…fuck Vince for not apologizing to Razzle’s parents…not glad about it…but losing sky…DEFINITELY MADE HIM REALIZE WHAT HE DID TO RAZZLE’S PARENTS…the pain of not being able to help you own child…and hearing that they died…Definitely woke his drunk ass up in someway that he probably won’t admit…again I’m really sad that sky died…may she Rest In Peace ☮️
From what I've understood they know each other well? They got it right in the end anyways. I think they have toured together or at least shared a stage at some point.

@jbyrne82 this year's classic rock awards when monroe won the album of the year and gene hosted the event.. they were ok and they buried their axes.. :D

Gene said it was a shame because Hanoi had been considered to open for KISS in Japan but Michael ruined that and perhaps his band members should have a word with him because they are a good band. Michael apologised in 2007 but Gene's not let it drop
@TheElvis156 i understand you... it's their best album easily... i don't find post destroyer albums very good... but not bad as well ... because on each of those albums at least until 79 you can find 3 or 4 real good rocks songs... you just have to take the time to find them... I don't think that a lot of post Destroyer albums are that bad... they are not really worst than pre-Destroyer kiss albums... that i rarely listen to Kiss-Ace Frehley lp in 1978 is really the best post Destroyer Kiss lp

@JohnKulo He doesn't care about rock.... haha thats a laugh. Hell the name Gene Simmons is even taken from an old rock'a'billy musician. He has a love for old fashion rock'n'roll. He cares about rock but he was also dirt poor as a kid being born 4 years after WWII, his mother in Holocaust camps, immigrating to America...etc so he wanted to make sure he was NEVER poor again hence the mass marketing.
I am actually a Kiss fan way more than a Hanoi Rocks fan. But back in the day Hanoi was a cool live band, I have been told. Also, as a person, Mike Monroe seems a much nicer person than Gene. I once saw Mike bicycling in the center of Turku. He was actually wearing his rock n roll outfit in the middle of the street while driving a Harley Davidson-shaped bicycle! Funny but kinda cool at the same time. Saving nature too, I guess. Meanwhile Gene is probably bitching to some underaged bitches at the back of a limousine. I like his playing and singing, but as a person Gene (like Paul) have lost it, I am afraid.

Please, don't hate Gene. He's joking. I know that, he's not very wise, but he's an awesome. All people are not perfect. And Kiss and Hanoi Rocks are an awesome bands forever.
But to be serious: Eric Singer, the KISS drummer's been with Alice Cooper for decades. Michael Monroe's act is to join AC for School's out every time when available. In Finland, I can't even imagine Cooper doing the encore without Monroe.
It sounds like he's trying to divert attention away from the band with the Marilyn comment because his two sidemen were bragging on the band. I used to listen to H.R alot. They have several great songs. Its just their first two albums production aren't very good. Back To Mystery City is their 10/10 album
And it shows. He's not that good of a performer. Cheap theatrics by today's standards. Their music all sounds the same. Dirty riffs, crusty guitars. Gross
@JohnKulo Gene Simmons isn't a real rocker because he doesn't know about a Finnish band? LOL someone sounds butt hurt! I'd say the 40+ years touring, recording albums, playing bass, producing.....etc makes Gene a REAL rocker. Also anyone that bitches about "the space man" being replaced: How many members has Hanoi Rocks had in their history? SUCH hypocrites.
Hanoi Rocks was 100 times better than mutley lame. It's disgusting that on top of only serving 15 days for killing razzle he whined about not having visitors. HANIO ROCKS would have been huge, instead they got took out by a band that fakes playing live.
@dysmorfofobia true but you know what else is a fact? WORLD would be better without KISS and especially without Gene and KISS would have been better with out Gene!!
