He is my favorite drummer ever as well, underrated and underappreciated and its a shame!! He also has the best voice by far in the band, and most unique of any drummer ever!!!
Also once on a talk show, when the host introduced gene as the bass player (as in, bass the fish) Ace, when introduced as the lead guitar player, corrected U.K. And said he was the trout player!
almost 60 and can remember them in 9th grade. I was godsmack by the whole persona thing , the make up ,the costumes and then the stage performances holy shit. an actual turning point in rock if you ask me.
I first saw Kiss on the TV in 1978 , I was 4 years old & Gene Simmons scared the Hell out of me, well they all scared me but of course through the years I grew to love KISS , but no band more deserving than KISS , the Peoples band
Damn right. I was listening to them in like 5th grade, my favorite. I moved on once the Mighty Van Halen came to be, but still love some KISS. The HOF is a joke. It's a joke that KISS took this long to get in. It's a joke that Van Halen wasn't a first-ballot HOF-er, but Green Day was? It's a joke that Judas Priest is just now getting in, and not even as a performer. Maiden still isn't in. Boston isn't in. Ozzy isn't in as a solo act, but Ringo Starr is, just because he was a Beatle, and Stevie Nicks is as a solo act? LOL I can go on and on, but the HOF is dead wrong. KISS should have been in on their first ballot.
Excuse me but I was in the 10th grade in High School and went to their concerts many times there after n college too.....I'm 63 and still Rock in Rolling with KIZZ 🎶 🎵 🎸💟🎤
I love that Paul mentioned The Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone,etc....That's what Rock and Roll is all about, not forgetting what inspired you. Great speeches from all these guys!
Paul is a lying scumbag piece of shit!!! Peter and Ace were amazing and the real talent and heart and soul of the original lineup!!! Stanley is a delusional narcissistic sociopath asshole!!! Team Peter and Ace always!!!
Peter didn't need to be John Bonham, he was a frickin legend being Peter Criss!!! Different drumming style, still don't mean Catman with his unique jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs wasn't a legend!!!
When I was a teenager, I was in foster homes. I loved Kiss. I was originally from New York and my real parents worked in hospitals in the Bronx. So I knew the area. From a fan mag, I found out that Ace grew up in the Bronx by the Grande Concourse. So, not knowing any better, I called information and asked for the phone # of Frehley. They had no number but they had an address that was Aces mother's name. I wrote her a letter - fan sort of stuff like did Ace leave any things there that you could send me; etc. But then I had the bright idea to ask her about herself. I taped a dime to the letter and said that that was so she could send me a picture of herself. I thought this might help to get a response. Well, I sent it then forgot all about it. Then one day I got this envelope that had Frehley as a return address. She was very sweet and thanked me for the dime and she sent me a xeroxed copy of a pic taken at parents night at Madison Square Garden with the rest of the band. She told me that Aces things were not in her home anymore. She said that Ace would stay inside and practice all the time while all the other kids were outside playing. She said if I worked real hard I could be great, to. That letter meant a great deal to me under the circumstances and I still remember it. I saw this video and remember what it was to be a Kiss fan. An outcast but you felt strongly about them. People acted like you were crazy for liking them. But you listened to the first Alive album like it was a holy relic. I thought I would share this story for the first time on here. Where I thought some people could appreciate it. Rock and Roll all night and treat yourself like #1.
That's simply because people respect Ace and Peter the most because their flaws make them real people and they never tried to be anything more whereas Gene and Paul's personality came off as egotistical like it's all about me! There ya go!
Well established that Ace was the most technically polished member of that lineup carried them until their demise in 1981. Common knowledge undisputed.
It's actually simple!!! Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic and the real talent and heart and soul of the original lineup, no matter how Paul and Gene try to bash two living legends!!!!
You had to be there in the 1970s to truly understand how big and impactful KISS was. If you were a kid like me back then, KISS basically ruled the world.
As an original member of the Kiss Army I can say Tom nailed it. That's what being a Kiss fan was all about in the 70s. We were different because we chose to be different. As Paul said, we followed our own path and embraced the grief that came with it. We were the living spirit of REAL rock and roll awash in a sea of DISCO and pop and soft rock. Like Tom, my first concert was Kiss in the mid 70s and to this day it is the single most impactful, thrilling, unforgettable live evet I have ever attended. The spirit of Kiss will never die.
@@eh5872 I can also say that about a million other bands, but I don't go into their forums and post about them when I have no interest in them. That's what trolls do.
My favorite part is always when Ace takes the microphone, he had to break the ice when he made everyone laugh at 13:21, he said what he had to say and sent love throughout the entire thing then got the hell out. Paul was good until he got cocky towards the end but that’s about normal for him.
@@thekid9152Paul’s speech was fucking spot on and 110% true and right. Nothing cocky about it whatsoever. Because of KISS and this speech that now they take peoples votes. He is and KISS are 110% rock and roll and the peoples band
@evowalker8819 Paul is a lying scumbag and when Peter was talking about beating male breast cancer he was laughing in the background, disgusting!!!! Peter and Ace were the real heart and soul of the original lineup!!!
Agreed . I have some of his solo stuff and he still kicks ass . I bought a couple of his last cds without hearing a single note and wasn't disappointed .
Tom Morello achieved legend status here. He is clearly as big a fan of the original Kiss as I am. I am grateful to Tom for giving the hands down best induction in Rock N Roll Hall of Fame history.
Absolutely, hands down, the best induction speech I have heard yet for any ceremony period. Fantastic job. His description of them was dead on and painted the picture exactly as it was for so many who witnessed what most bands fail to deliver, an unforgettable experience.
@axelgarcia3266 no. Metallica was better. Flea had passion and true desire for the music. He was authentic in his presentation and I loved every minute
I love the passion, honesty, love and enthusiasm Tom has for Kiss! They're loved by everyone and Tom is definitely showing his love for them! God Bless you Tom and you were so lucky to be able to induct your favorite band, and ours, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!! ⭐❤️🦇💜👩🚀💙🐱💛🦊🧡
Morello's intro-delivery will become another part of Kisstory in-time. Inspiring and thought provoking, KISS music and their message of the freedom of youthful rebellion will always be a corner-stone of what rock and roll was always meant to be.
Kiss is more than just great music. Kiss is an inspiration to all of us. They proved that it doesn't matter who you are, that you can do anything you set your mind to and that life has no rules. We love you Paul , Gene , Peter , and ACE!
Hats off to gene for speaking of the other members who played with kiss. Kiss lived on because of those members and they deserve to be noticed. Good job gene!!!!!!!!!
No Paul and Gene greedy assholes kept it going for money!!! Peter and Ace will never be replaced, ever!!! They were the best two by far, and treated like stepchildren, team Peter and Ace always!!!
@@LOUIS-np6be So much better than the Catman and Ace????? Lol Literally you are ridiculous, if it wasn't for Peter and Ace bailed them out the other two delusional idiots would be playing with Wicked fuckin Lester in scumbag apartment!!!!! Lol 🤦♂️
I'm now 62 yrs old and Kiss was the most badass rock and roll band of all time. There will never be another! So props to Peter Criss,Ace Frehley,Paul Stanley, and Gene Simmons! You dudes were the greatest!😄
FOUR AGAINST THE WORLD, AND THEY FUCKING MADE IT!! Congratulations to the four originals. Thank you Vinnie, Bruce, Tommy and Eric S. God Rest Eric and Mark. Rock'n'Roll soldiers are much stronger as Allies.
That speech was totally ROCKING. Loving KISS for 40 years - it brought tears to my eyes. I felt so proud as if I were right there with them! No lineup will ever, ever compare to the original 4. Ace - you're this gal's hero. Loving you from NC.
Hey there, I'm a Tarheel girl who also has a special place in my heart for Ace! Did you read his book "No Regrets"? His mom's from NC too! I have a theory that this is where he gets his mojo from! :D
This is universally true! Think to a teenager in a little country in Italy in 1978, I listened to my heart instead to people laughing at me. We were right, weren't we?😊
If you were a teenager in the 70s and had a ticket to see kiss, you knew you were in for a great time!! I saw them I saw them three times that I could remember. Once at the Capitol theater in Jersey the BEACON IN NEW YORK, AND THe Nassau coliseum in N.Y. THAT WAS A NEW YEARS EVE CONCERT! ME AND MY BROS DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO GET THERE BUT WE WEREN'T GOING TO LET THAT STOP US,, we had our fingers crossed, 🤞 that the car would make it. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE HAD A GREAT TIME KISS PUT ON A GREAT SHOW, BLUE OYSTER CULT, ÀND MOUNTAIN DID TOO! A GREAT TIME TO BE A TEEN in the70's ROCK-N-ROLL IS HERE TO STAY! 🎸🤘🤘✌️☮️👀
I remember, back when I was a kid, going to Peter Chris's Sister's house in Canarsie , Brooklyn, where he grew up. The mailbox was made my Peter and looked liked a fang. We knocked on the door,...She let us in and showed us everything about her Brother. She was so welcoming. It was a great day.
Awesome intro by Tom Morello. The fact that it took so long for KISS and Rush to get into the Hall of Fame, and that Deep Purple still isn't in it yet are 3 of the greatest travesties in rock and roll. Unbelievable.
GutterWorx310 Zoose now they want to forever keep out Motley Crue, another travesty perpetuated by assholes who want to write their version of history instead of how it was.........
Tom Morello, YOU my friend are f*&^*n awesome. You told the world what it is like to be a KISS fan. Never I have seen that represented better than here! As a 35year + fan a sense of pride. Cheers!
You wanted the best... You got the best... The hottest band in the world... KISS!!! They are the Gods of Rock & Roll. There will never be another band in the world like KISS!!!
I saw Kiss for the first time on TV when I was 7, on the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. In three weeks, I will be seeing them for the last time, and I will be going with my daughter, who is even more excited than I am.
Vindication day. Proof that we fans were right all along. I watch this induction often cause it validates everything I've told all the naysayers all along. KISS are a damn great rock and roll band.
"Over the past 41 years, KISS have earned 30 gold albums, including the four solo albums that were released simultaneously in 1978. The band has 14 platinum albums, with three going multi-platinum."
Justice served! After 40 years...great thing is that all original four are still ALIVE and doing well! Impressive introduction & message delivery by all of them.
My uncle took me to my first concert ever, a month after I turned 12 yrs. old in the summer of 1977. It was KISS and Cheap Trick, on the "Love Gun" tour.I still have the ticket stub - $7.50 Canadian.I have seen hundreds of shows since, and that show is still in my top 5
I first saw KISS in 1975. I saw them again in 2017. Both times I left worn out and fulfilled thinking I got more than my moneys worth. I hope to see them again in ten years...
They should have played!!! Peter and Ace were willing to, and the other two delusional greedy assholes wouldn't!!! Actually, Gene was open to it, but Paul said absolutely not!!! Disgusting
One of the best speeches I have ever heard. Great job Tom and thank you for entertaining gentlemen for 50 years. Ace, Paul, Gene and Peter well done my brothers. God Bless.
They were the most important band in my life! I still love Ace Frehley to this day, he had a huge impact on my life from my childhood. I picked up my very first guitar because of him.
My favorite band ever and a HUGE thank you to Tom Morella introduction. When I was young boy I was picked on and beaten up for being a KISS fan. His speech brought tears to my eyes and I was so happy that after all the years of being overlooked, KISS has finally made it into the Rock and Roll HOF. They have done things no other band has ever done and have never gotten the praise they've deserved. KISS is the greatest American Rock band of all time. They and The Eagles are 1 and 1A. BEST INTRODUCTION EVER!
Still going but not strong. I began in 1978 , loved them immensely til about 2001 but the Farewell Tour should have been the last. Now they are a mere shell of what they used to be. They stayed around 20 years too long.
My first concert was KISS. I was 12 years old and growing up in Detroit. My sister, at 17, had bought each of us a ticket to see them at Cobo Hall and she snuck me out of the house by having me repel out of my second floor bedroom window using my bed sheets and blanket. From the second the house lights went out until the last note was played, every sense I had was assaulted and I was addicted and still am. I was able to climb back up into my bedroom when we got back home, thinking our mom and dad knew nothing about it. 20 some years later, talking with my mom over coffee one morning while I was home on leave I told her about it and she told me they knew that My sister and I had snuck out that night. They weren't mad. My sisters babys father had died the year before in a car accident and While my sister was dealing with that loss, I helped as much as I could by babysitting my niece when ever my sister needed me to. I never asked for a penny. Just the opposite, I would help by the diapers and formula she needed out of the moneybI made delivering papers, cutting grass and shoveling snow throughout the year. I never asked to be repaid back. I guess she did repay me though with this concert and many more things as well.
Kiss 💋 was my first concert 1977 I have seen them 4 times altogether And I took my son when he was 9 years old 1987, 💋 he has seen them 3 times! So we are BIG VAN'S OF KISS 💋 ☮️💜🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Great introduction from Tom Morello he spoke the truth straight from and for all KISS fans worldwide in my opinion..nice to see my childhood hero's healthy and humble together!! Finally damn it finally!! ;)
I am a die hard Kiss fan, but realistic!!! Zeppelin, The Who are the best!!!! I do think Kiss is on the Mount Rushmore though? I also love Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles as well!!! AC/DC and Motorhead too!!! Rush and Cheap Trick got their start because of Kiss
Such an important band in American culture. Thank you for the JOY guys. Was a long time coming...much respect and well deserved, congratulations. Great introduction by Mr. Morello...couldn't have said it better myself. You knocked it outta the park !
That was such an awesome video! I was obsessed with KISS when I was a little kid. They're the reason why I started playing drums! I am so happy for them!
Few RRHOF speeches have moved my heart... Flea inducting Metallica, Foo Fighters inducting Rush, David Letterman inducting Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney inducting Ringo Starr, and others, but this one have something else that's it can be explained with words.
I went to see kiss for the first time in my life yesterday and It seems it is the last time they are playing in Norway.. They delivered a Great show on 🤘(TONS of ROCK)🤘 in Oslo.. I also shoot 1 Hour of video footage of the band live it Was a Great Day..
I am not a big fan of Kiss' music and antics, but truly admire their impact and endurance in the Rock world. Amazing induction speech from Tom Morello too.
