All these songs sound like a 13 year old boy talking about what he thinks sex would be like and half the merch is marketed at 10 year olds. Who let this happen? Also, is KISS even a band? Because none of them can write, sing or play an instrument.
Oh, yeah, we know your parents let you listen to this when you were a kid. But what we're saying is they did maybe-irreparable damage to you in doing so and it's possible that every failed relationship in your life could be this band's fault. Also, no, this is not genius marketing but good try at skirting the main issue, which is that KISS sucks!

KISS are legends of rock music. Lyrics a bit lame but they not trying to be clever, Paul is a rock star. Bland at times , talentless I couldn't say that, not the greatest players but they do fine. Gene a bad human wow and we all want our music heroes to be good humans that behave well do we? Their sound was corny boogie 5 years out of date, makeup and gimmicks had been done by Alice Cooper and Arthur Brown (who actually were shock rock), and the Beatles had done a lot on the merch market. Tbf though Kiss did invent the branded coffin.

Rock and Roll is supposed to be fun first and foremost. And they were. For me they were the gateway drug to Dream Theater (Mike Portnoy is a KISS fan), King's X (Ty Tabor is a fan), Rush, Genesis (with at least 4 members), and Marillion.

I listen to this podcast with a close friend, and after this episode, we have decided to embark on a quest to find some more ridiculous shit that Kiss has slapped their name on. Some other things we found: Mr potato heads, Wedding rings, Wall fountains, AM radio transistors, Pinball machines, Toilet bowl lids, And model train sets. Our hunt continues.

Zappa had tried to sign AC/DC in 75 when he saw them while he was touring Australia. They turned him down because they were loyal to Alberts/interested in bigger international labels. He was onto them loooooong before Gene.

Not only was that episode of Nitro was the lowest ever but they played one song and introduced the Kiss Demon who Bischoff had wanted to be the first of a freaking stable of Kiss related wrestlers. And I love that Gene Simmons/Donald Trump analogy. This episode is so amazing and so hilarious!!!!!!

In 1979 a gang of Rural English heavy rock / metal wankers sat in total anticipation as a Kiss LP was lowered onto a turntable. We were into Sabbath, Free, Rory Gallagher Purple , Mountain , Rush ,Motörhead , AC/DC , Priest , Aerosmith etc & were well aware of the bands’ destructive and shocking reputation - but hadn’t heard a single song by them . We expected something heavier than a ten ton truck , louder than The Who and nastier than Alice Cooper or the Pistols with a bad hangover on speed . Disbelief is the emotion I remember. They sounded more like a tinny Sweet - Lite .I don’t wanna disrespect any bands’ honest efforts but they just didn’t match the hype . Probably great fun live if you’re loaded . 👍

Some of the members were good musicians. Namely Vinnie Vincent, Bruce Kulick, Eric Carr. When it comes to the original flour then yeah they weren't that good

I've heard a lot of drummers with better technical ability than Peter Criss do drum solos, but the vast majority of those aren't as enjoyable to listen to as the drum solo in God of Thunder from Alive 2.

I think my favorite KISS story is about the time Gene Simmons tried to call Kurt Cobain while Nirvana was recording In Utero in Minnesota, and Steve Albini took the call at Cobain's behest, since he didn't want to talk to Simmons. Then Gene Simmons would tell the story of how he talked to Kurt Cobain, and Steve Albini didn't reveal (to the general public, at least) that he was really the one who had talked to Gene Simmons until he was interviewed by Nardwuar.

I love KISS, simply because my mom introduced them to me as a little kid. And as much as I may love them, I will be the first to admit that they are miles away from being extraordinary musicians. Their early music I like, but everything else is hit or miss with me. I mostly consider their music as fast food rock. It’s fun to listen to every so often, but you know damn well that there’s way better shit out there.

Best Kiss album was Lick it up. That's probably because Vinnie Vincent who was a good songwriter and guitarist, it was also one of their heaviest efforts and had Eric Carr on drums who was actually solid. "Exciter" is actually a cool song, "a million to one" also.

They are doing this show for people that DISLIKE a certain band. Some people dislike Motley and like Stone Temple Pilots. Others hate STP and like Motley. They did a video for each one of those that way EVERYONE is included and they get more views. It’s a marketing strategy

Everything you’ve said is not a valid argument. Lots of horrible bands have lasted a long time together for money. The Backstreet Boys have sold 130 million albums, and they still have fans. Only KISS fans and sycophants such as yourself would think that they have the best live shows, as most normal people would see them as a novelty at best. There are almost good or famous bands primarily influenced by KISS except for some grunge bands that at the very least actually took their guitar sound and made raw and real music that sounds nothing like them. The facts are not on your side. KISS sucks.

@@curly_wyn Are you seriously comparing the backstreet boys to Kiss? That's the best you've got? The backstreet boys come nowhere close to Kiss in terms of influence, longevity, or impact. I'm afraid Nate is right here and he did give the facts. Kiss has experienced major success, they did have a lasting impact on music with lots of bands, they've lasted nearly 50 years (you don't last that long if you're bad), and they have generations of fans around the world. There's no denying any of that. I recognize all those things and I'm not even a Kiss fan.

Kiss is one of those bands that were so hilariously bad that through that they were good in early days of the band. Ace and Gene are good at lead and bass guitar players. They ripped off alice cooper, who copied arthur brown. Kiss had the quintessential 70’s disco label, Casablanca records.

Thank god kiss (like aerosmith) will be forgotten by EVERYONE in the future, nowdays young people dont give a fuck about them so future looks good....well not so much because a lot of pop/trap artists nowdays are like kiss ,examples: machine gun kelly, travis scott :/
