It's gotten so much hate from critics and fans that I never listened to it. I'm gonna download it and have a listen for myself. Besides there ain't shit worth listening to nowadays anyway. ROCK ON KISS ARMY 🤘🎸
@@SlickMopar Great album, just do not think you are listening something like Destroyer! Other than that I love that album, it's like what happened to Chamaleon from Helloween. Enjoy it!
@@SlickMoparI disagree with you. I bought the album the day it was released. I didn’t like it at all to the point I gave it to a friend of mine who loved it. Then I bought the CD five years ago to see if maybe I will like it now. Nope, I still don’t like it. The songs don’t move me at all. It’s still my least favorite Kiss album. I’m glad other KISS fans love it but it doesn’t resonate with me at all.
great album wrong time. They were on their way down, and that is either a great time to reinvent or a terrible one. It was a terrible one. Stray from their core with Dynasty, then further with Unmasked, then The Elder? Creatures saved them but barely because it was almost too late. Lick it Up took it further, then there were struggles again as they kept trying to capture Dynasty with a cross over look and sound rather than music with the theatrics. Several no makeup albums, Revenge was the best IMHO. Then it was time to reunite, relive history even with members leaving, and here we are :)
The Oath is one of the underrated songs only real KISS fans know. Not only the song but the album the Elder itself is a hidden treasure to those who really love KISS from zero to 100,000. Cheers from Japan.
I have to admit that this album is the only one I have on vinyl and I appreciate it. It is absolutely amazing and I do not understand why it has been neglected for so long. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
@@jindradusek1966Because, overall it ain't that great. I'm a gigantic KISS fan. The Oath, Dark Light, Escape From The Island, and World Without Heroes are all pretty great. The rest is ok to boring/bad.
Definitely. I wasn’t never Kiss fan, but I absolutely loved this album when I heard it. Was shocked to find that it gets so much hate in the Kiss community.
I remember buying The Elder when it was released. Still love it. The performances on the comedy show Fridays were a nice surprise. Especially at the time when kiss got such little attention. Great. Very impressive re-recording and production.
Totally on board for this re recording. It would be nice if the new owners of the catalogue would put this out. For those who don't know, Paul and Gene sold the entire portfolio for 300 million.
Loved the whole album - loved the idea of it too, alot of people hate it for not being traditional Kiss but I thought it was great! 100x better than Unmasked for sure 😆
Glad you had lyric subtitles. For over 40 years I could only understand half the lyrics to the song. A lot of the vocals were a bit muddy on the Elder. A bit too much reverb.
In this version, the reverb on Paul’s vocals makes it sound like Lennon’s vocals on “Free as a Bird” (i.e., like they’re chiming in from The Great Beyond).
Awesome work! Any chance of following up with the rest of the album? MANY KISS fans have been craving for them to remix this album and give it its proper recognition for years. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
This was totally awesome! I have always liked the elder! Cause it was different! If the elder had sounded like this in 1981! I think the fans really would have accepted it more cause of the heaviness here! Eric’s double sounding kick here is wicked badass! I hope you will do (Only You) it has a natural heaviness riff wise! Great job👍 ⚡️space ace Ron⚡️
I`m totally with Gonad! The Elder is the best KISS album ever! Would like to hear teh whole album with that fat sound! R.I.P Eric - best KISS Drummer ever!!! The bass drum could be a liitle bit more fat - like the bassdrum on a Dark Funeral album for example🤣
What key is this in? I've always wanted to hear what it would sound like without the falsetto vocals. There was a period in the late 90s where Paul could have sung this with his normal voice. Lost opportunity
A phenomenal album but an album released at absolutely the wrong time. Every album should link, at least a little, to the album before it. The way Kiss, HTH and DTK are all at the very least, partially linked by sound and feel. The same argument could be made for Destroyer, RARO and Lovegun. But after Unmasked Gene and Paul heard the bubblegum remarks and said "Oh yeah, we'll show you". There was virtually no link between Unmasked and the Elder and the drastic difference obliterated any small continuity and alienated some fans to boot. I can honestly say I loved the Elder when it came out but releasing it when they did was a mistake. Like, read the lyrics to You're All That I Want and then read the lyrics to The Oath. It's like reading a children's book and right after it, diving into Shogun. Having said the Elder was released at the wrong time, I'm not sure when in the 80's would have been the right time.
My least favorite Kiss album…. I tried and tried to get into it but I can’t. I bought the album but still to this day it doesn’t move me…. This is a great remake of The Oath…..
Music From The Elder is a great album. It was great for its time despite what know it all agenda driven critics had to say. Art is subjective and if you enjoy it then fuck the critics.
Gracias amigos. Am I the only one who thinks that Tommy Thayer's guitar sounds like crap with so much distortion on Kiss Alive 4? Especially on the first songs without the symphony orchestra.
Out of all the Kiss tributes this is the best re-recording on this RU-vid page. My only 2 suggestions would be less reverb on the vocals up the guitar at bit and the vocals.
que discazo!!!1que temazo!!!y que tremenda versión la suya mi estimado!!! gracias por estos mimos kisseros de los buenos me tomo el atrevimiento de sugerirle versionar "king of hearts" gracias y que no paren nunca estas versiones!!!!
I’ve always wished that Dynasty and Unmasked would get a proper remixing to hear what they sound like without Vinnie Poncia’s limp dick production. Yes there were some weak songs on both of these albums, but the good songs don’t have a chance to shine because of the anemic production. I’m of the opinion if you combined the best tracks off each album and brought in a good rock producer like Eddie Kramer, Bob Rock, Brendan O’Brian, etc; you might just have a classic KISS album that would hold it’s own next to anything else they put out in the seventies! Also while we’re at it, someone please remix (not just remaster) the first three KISS albums. I think the songs on Hotter Than Hell are among the best they’ve ever recorded, but we all know it sounds like they set the band up in a hallway and recorded on the opposite end with an old cassette recorder. If it was done right, I’m sure I’m far from the only KISS fan that would say “shut up and take my money”! We all know how much Gene and Paul like money.
