@@kevinn4038 No, not The Fox! Vinnie, on the other hand, DID SAVE the band! Ace was STILL in the band when Eric joined. With Ace, KISS was pretty solid! "Wiz" also had strong song-writing skills, something Carr lacked. Sorry pal, that's the truth!
It’s incredible to think that this was the crowds they would get in South America and some parts of Europe. But by this stage they were struggling to sell out concerts back in the US.. a combination of music changing and many fans moving on from Kiss. Hence, they had to change direction quick and decided to take the face paint off. Perhaps a good decision from Paul, as it somewhat kept them relevant during that glam rock era. Overall, Kiss are absolute Kings
Esse show passou num sábado a tarde, tinha 13 anos de idade e o KISS me fez enxergar um outro lado da música e me fez fã ardoroso da banda em minha juventude! Tinha o áudio desse pgm gravado numa fita K-7.
I saw this same lineup in Oct 83 at Newcastle upon Tyne and couldn't hear for a week. Eric Carr was superb definitely their Best ever drummer especially his solo!!!!!!
for us UsA fans, seeing clips like this one, metallica russia 91, ac dc river plate 07, metallica mexico city 93, queen wembley 85 (86'?) , kiss sydney 80, make us appreciate our rock/metal brothers across the world even more and more. the USA concerts don't get like this. its insane how much non-americans get into it. im glad those concerts were recorded for posterity for sure.
Peter Chris sucked Ace freely was cool and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have the worst egos I've ever seen. They fucked Vinnie Vincent Who was their most talented guitars and song writer How would you like only making $550 a week from these assholes who are raking in millions!?
@@zekemieskoski9269 Opinons are interesting things. The musical chops between VV and Eric Carr pushed them well beyond the gimmick they've been before, and after. This is a band bent on rocking rather than chasing trends or, in today nostalgia.
He was also barely in shot during the "lick it up" kiss music video! And practically everytime he was in shot, the camera would cut or pan away! Rewatch the video and see for yourself. He was also not "a-breast" to the rest of the group, he was sometimes a few steps behind, and almost gives off the impression more that of a background character! Its BS!!
@@321CatDaddy Yep, as an old 67 years KISS fan, was my first big experience in Southamerica, Rock in Rio 1985 was awesome 2. Rio concert was epic. They played I love it Loud twice that night. Nice memories, thanks.
@@michaelingram4640 yeah he has gone nuts over the years suing them for all kinds of things I've read about it in several different books including both Paul and gene's autobiographies but including other books as well. Pretty ridiculous even for show business
@@gregbaldwin5144 Gene is notorious himself about the almighty buck. I was at Wonderfest in Kentucky when his people showed up with a cease and desist order for the artist who did the Destroyer and Love Gun album covers. He was selling prints of both covers and KISS owned the rights to the images. Harsh, but hey, that’s life! Gene was protecting what was his. They didn’t get my copy though! 😉
@@GenOceanWolf_tWo_TookieTaliban Did you ever see KISS with Vinnie? Good God did he suck! When he wasn’t copying Ace note for note, his solos were frantic crap! KISS is Ace and Peter and Gene and Paulie; through the 80’s they followed every trend - wasn’t till Revenge that they got close to what they were. I love KISS, any version, any time period but Vinnie sounded like a rat in a blender when he soloed!
Vinnie Vincent was undoubtedly the best guitar player of Kiss, i think this is the best line up of them, but Paul Stanley couldn’t let someone shine brighter than him in the band, so he found out a way the get rid of Vinnie, the following year proved that it was a great mistake
Are you sure that show was canceled? I was at the show in Dallas, which had been moved at the last minute but was packed nevertheless. The Houston show would have been at the Sam Houston Coliseum, (an older hockey stadium built before the Summit in 1976). If Kiss canceled the Houston due to “only” 10,000 fans, that sucks. That’s a lot fans wanting to see Kiss. I guess the two sold out nights at the Summit in 1977 spoiled them.
The Houston concert wasn't cancelled. The show went on at the Sam Houston Coliseum, as 'Steve Steel' noted. 5,975 crazed KISS fans in attendance at the 6,868 capacity venue. Not great for KISS...but not bad, considering some of the cancellations and low ticket sales for that particular tour.
@@courtneyross7879 Thanks for clarifying that. The Texas cities always supported Kiss quite well. Back then, Hispanic populated cities like San Antonio and El Paso had a huge heavy metal fan base, Houston was very blue collar, and Dallas wasn’t far behind. Touring bands generally do good business in Texas. There were some classic shows at the Sam Houston Coliseum back in the day. I saw Black Sabbath with Van Halen there on Thanksgiving evening 1978. Great show!
@@TheSteveSteele Yeah, Wichita, KS treated KISS pretty good, too. Century II Auditorium and the Kansas Coliseum were the two venues for hip-hop and heavy metal acts to ransack! Damn, you're a lucky man! I was too young to see those types of concerts in the 70's.☹
it was a festival...they were not the only band there..there were other top acts playing that day. Not saying they couldnt pull a crowd in 1983 but if it was JUST them on the bill then no way that crowd shows up. I think KISS would admit to that.
I was the best just best today i everything you're okay 👌 a you okay 👌 medicine hope you're doing can't wait 😊 is please get lost kid the domesticable is wolf 🐺
Vinnie hottie is the only one here who holds a line. I heard him singing in a backup and he sang exactly like the melody is supposed to be. Gene is yelling not singing. He maybe should spent some bucks on inhalator, if he couldn't breathe... ?? Paul with his dancing queen stuff annoys me the most ...
Does any KISS fan know the actual truth about this performance? RUMOUR - KISS didn't actually get paid for this performance. Why - KISS just wanted the exposure i.e. to be filmed in front of this massive crowd AND for the world to take notice that quote " they were back."
I Was Made For Loving You had the dual effect of killing a large part of their American fan base while greatly increasing their international popularity. Plus, they were probably already popular in Brazil but rarely made it over there to perform, so any appearance was seen as an event by their fans who turned out in droves. Similar turnouts happened for Rush and Iron Maiden in Brazil. Hell, even Michael Jackson could fill stadiums around the world when everyone in America wanted him arrested.
@@courtneyross7879 Not when they have enough money to buy up publication then the media blitz. They've had to do that many times. I have proof. They bought up the publication on the fact that two people got trampled to death at this concert. Then turned around and out of Gene's mouth lied about it. I have followed this band since 1975 and I can tell you that they lie a lot. They are a product. That's why they don't use their real names. Most haven't figured out why they all called KISS and who really owns them. Paul Stanley told everybody in one of their home videos.
@@bruzrcruzr2004 I'm aware that they weren't truthful on certain things back in the day i.e. Peter's and Ace's drug and alcohol abuse, Peter's departure, Ace's departure, etc. What I'm saying is, in this day and age, with all of the sources and resources out there, someone somewhere would have spilled the beans on the particular statement of KISS not getting paid for this show. That's not to say that didn't happen a time or two back in the day. But, focusing on this specific Rio concert, whether it be one of Gene's books, one of Paul's books, one of their many many interviews...the KISS Alive Forever book...Wikipedia, KIssFAQ.com, RU-vid...something, someone, somewhere would have presented that info by now. If you've got proof, as well as proof of them silencing the media, regarding the tragedy that occurred at the Rio concert, that's great. Point me to it.😉 I'm a little lost here. What do you mean by 'why they all called KISS'? And what do you mean by 'who really owns them'?
Kiss up until a few years ago have certainly been giving the best performances at every live show they’ve ever done but obviously as now everyone knows Paul’s voice is nowhere near the level it’s been at in the past what exactly went wrong with his voice? I mean I know kiss tour and perform extensively so that’s out a huge strain on his voice that’s obvious but something has gone seriously wrong for his vocals to get to a point where he had to lip synch to tracks?
Well, he's not the youngest and it's pretty normal to lose voice in his age. Also, during covid Paul was ill twice at the time, he also, uhm... shared... his "Omicron face" on his twitter.
KISS- over 100 million albums sold worldwide, generations of fans young to old, puts on one of the best shows rock has ever seen, cited by many top bands as an influence - some of which you probably listen to. Yep, they must be terrible 😂
