I think it’s hilarious how I’ve seen almost every kind of dude do this with there friends regardless of if there gay, straight, or bi. The question of authenticity in a relationship. Here in Paris there are imaginary rings of intimacy. You have no need to come out to the grocer (unless he is adorable) but an inner circle of people who by position in your life, you confide, share, exchange personal details and trust, and you seek to know that person so you may share more. In USA people have fewer boundaries, share more but intimacy has less meaning. Cultural differences means that these two societies are not miscible. You need to have a sensitive ear to survive.
