I do like your patience and forebearance when answering the comments.😀👍

I try. I am good at faking patience, a skill I learned as a teacher.

Nice one... with all that good access to the water.. I see only one problem.. your boat could have been much much wider..😉🙂👍
@SailingSVLynx
@SailingSVLynx 7 месяцев назад
lol, true. If only we didn't have to fit in locks that won't let our boat be wider than it already is! I went with the widest beam that would still work.

I tried exchanging Brian for a new model, but they were just too expensive ;)

As I was looking on your back wall I saw a German license plate from Wilhelmshaven, WHV. I was there at the Navy long time ago.
@SailingSVLynx

Yep, I lived in Wilhelmshaven when I was younger. That's where I built my first sailboat and learned to sail her!

The roads are wide enough but but how about clearance from overhead obstacles?
@SailingSVLynx
@SailingSVLynx 3 месяца назад
Not an issue, we have to be under 14', we are.

Yeah, roads in CA are WIDE. I've been looking into my options here in the EU, and there is no way one could transport a 7 or 8m wide cat on these roads.

I feel your pain! In my youth, I lived in Gstaad, Arnhem, Wilhelmshaven, and Bonn, so I am familiar with the roads and understand your challenges.

Brian’s augmented gesturing at 3:18 😂 I know writing, filming, and editing are extremely difficult, especially when they’re secondary tasks to documenting a very ambitious build. Your videos’ entertainment factor are improving week by week, regardless. Good job all around.

Thanks! Yeah, Brian is a funny guy, you don't always get to see that in the videos because I don't always catch him with a camera on. This time, I did :)

I agree that acid rain is a non-issue. BUT, even if it was, you could COMPLETELY neutralize it by sprinkling a little bit of baking soda on the carpet.
@SailingSVLynx
@SailingSVLynx 7 месяцев назад
True enough! Still, not a big worry for us.

Epoxy doesn't have much vapor pressure. A lot of people don't wear vapor cartridges with wet epoxy. I don't either. I would rather wear goggles to make sure it doesn't get in my eyes than wear a respirator. And gloves of course. Sanding freshly cured epoxy is potentially harmful to your lungs (because it is still a bit reactive), but I think you guys always wear dust masks when sanding which should take care of that.
@SailingSVLynx
@SailingSVLynx 7 месяцев назад
Being outside, we really don't feel we need to block vapors... it also helps that we are using epoxy exclusively instead of polyester... that stuff really puts out the fumes!
@EUC-lid
@EUC-lid 7 месяцев назад
Yeah, I feel like folks asking about this may not know the difference between modern low-zero off-gassing epoxy and poly/vinylesters that use noxious MKEP hardeners.

If the daggerboards could fail, shouldn't you make a spare or two now?
@SailingSVLynx
@SailingSVLynx 7 месяцев назад
We considered it. The main issue is where to store two 12' x 2' boards on board, that and the time and cost to build them, about three weeks and $3,000.
@MrJhchrist
@MrJhchrist 7 месяцев назад
@@SailingSVLynx You build them, then build a surfboard around them. Maybe put in a pull tab like a wine bottle wrapper has. Congratulations, now you just have to figure out where to store 2 long boards!

Hi i also think the carpet is a bad idea to sit the copper coat on as there will be minute particles of steel in the carpet that will react with the copper over time. I am suggesting this through experience, maybe look at some other material, just a suggestion anyway good luck with your build.admire your confidence building out side cheers
@SailingSVLynx
@SailingSVLynx 7 месяцев назад
The carpet is for padding, but we could put a layer of plastic between it and the Coppercoat
