Kitbashing Corrupted Robots - Building the Dark Mechanicus Ep. 1 

I think kitbashing is the most intriguing part of the hobby for me. And I love see what others think of!

I know they might not be strong on the tabletop, but this project seems to scream a dunecrawler daemon engine. It's great to see some hobbycraft back on the channel. Loving the content.

Thomas Fordal's Dark Mechanicum x Nighthaunt army is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in the hobby, but yours are easily right up there with it.

To go with the Magic cross-over I really wanna do a Dark Mechanicus army that looks like it's been corrupted by Phyrexian Oil.

Yesss! Yes yes yes! Love it! I love the kitbash and more importantly, love that you posted this video! Would love to see more of not only this project but also future kitbash projects. Kitbashing is definitely my favorite part of the hobby that I rarely get to do much because buying 2 kits for every unit is hard to justify, especially for an entire army! For the Dark Mechanicus army, you obviously need an "allied" Knight and lots of war engines. Lots of really gross conversions with tentacles and maws and bony protrusions. For a counts as Cawl, you can take details that exist about Cawl but aren't shown, like his 7 brains, and showcase them front and center. A "Cawl" with 6 additional disfigured mutants grafted to his back? Like the weird brain rats on the back of Skaven Stormfiends. One other fun idea is use Nurglings and Brimstone horrors as chaos themed mascots. Like grots in 40k Orks, use them as little mechanicus and helpers. Nurglings and Brimstones competing to see who gets to make a repair or hand someone a wrench would be funny and still have the kinda twisted humor to it...especially when the piece they are retrieving for their master is the aforementioned brains...

My first minis were Space Marine leftovers I got on ebay. Had to get creative as some parts were missing or broken. Basically I have been kitbashing since I started with the hobby and I still do it all the time. It is just so much fun!

Honestly I LOVE this type of video and HOPE you do more of these! They would be an amazing compliment to the channel as a whole since we don't see yall hobbying as much as playing!

One of my first kitbashing projects was two squads of Tau Geu'vessa auxilliaries using an old firewarrior and guard infantry kit. It was a lot of fun to do though I still haven't finished painting them.

Yes, this is amazing! I am currently working on my own dark mechanicus army, though I started with a pair of dunecrawlers, using a heldrake for the body, with dunecrawler legs, and a bunch of green stuff cables running through the model to a neutron laser attached to the back like a scorpions tail. I look forward to seeing how you continue building this army in the future, and I may use a few your conversions to help flesh out my own army.

Cawdor gang bodies for skitarii work really well and would give them a nice cultist feel

Yessss, excited for this new series being added to the channel Adrian! I've found with the Insta-Set bottle that instead of spraying I unscrew the top and use the plastic tube inside to drip just where I need it to avoid the messy overspray. Just some feedback, I felt like your speaking got faster near the end, which I also have a habit of doing when I'm excited (and nothing is more exciting than converting!) I'm looking forward to even more diabolical kit-bashing in your Hellforge.

There's SO much potential for GW to just go wild with a DarkMech model range. Everything from AI characters, to unique Daemon Engines, to Ork servitors, and beyond. I hope they get a full army release and go nuts with it.

I love kit bashing too!! I once used a Custodian guard box and used it to build 5 custodian guard ... because they are the best....

I thought of a good mixture for your dark michancus crawler. A scorpion theme that I built for a chaos knights. Use the crawlers legs as normal, armiger body, attach armiger leg to the back fuel source where you at the end you can magnetise. Hips of armiger can attach both the auto cannons for Icarus or just the weapon on its own. Lastly are the arms, go for what you like, to keep the scorpion theme, I attached the harospex claws is what I chose, this is the only area I needed green stuff. Great work on the robots and can’t wait to see more

Love it! Converting is my favourite aspect of the hobby. I kitbashed a custom chapter master model using old firstborn bits, a Bladeguard captain head, a Lord Castellor from AOS, and Ad Mech Sulphur Hounds

Amazing Adrian, this is also my biggest love in the hobby. I`m working on Dark Angel characters right now.

I'm pretty new to warhammer 40k and nearly from the start I wanted to build a CSM/deamons mix army. My plan is to kitbash all the CSM units making them all unique and the "commanders" demons. I will definitely be using your aluminum foil tip! Looking forward to seeing more of this force being built!

I'm currently kitbashing A BUNCH of Drukhari, I want all of my DE Troops to stand out, so I'm kitbashing Bloodbrides, Kabalite Trueborn and Haemoxytes, as well as Mandrakes, because I want to update their sculpts a bit.

I'm currently kitbashing two Star Wars Legion kits (the scout trooper bikes and the downed atst) into a podracer that was salvaged and cobbled together by ewoks.

Kitbashing is the best, looking forward to seeing more hobby content on the channel! RIP the all Kroot army though.

That's a really cool Kit-bash. I find myself regularly adding extra bit and pieces to try and make sure my models don't look plain.

hi, one thing that make look cool with fleshy daemonic warped growth is adding cable in it, like it's bulging out or partialy covered by flesh, a bit Giger-esque .

I’m kitbashing a salamander bike captain with a storm cast concussor. Just need to 3D print some custom bits like a shoulder pad and some guns for the mount.

Kastelans are my fave, literally only mechanicus I have is the apocalypse kastelan box because I couldn't pass up a discount to grab a bunch of them. Great kit bash, I was planning on amping up my kastelans for combat with some custom lighting claw/talon options (of course I am all loyalist all the time)

I love kitbashing and I love AdMech, I just recently started converting my whole AdMech army into a Skaven theme complete with Skaven Skitarii, it's slow going but looks amazing.

Darkmech is such an awesome force. I think Traitor Guard and Dark Mechanicus should have had received codexes already, maybe they could be combined into servants of chaos codex or something like that..? Especially Traitor Guard which is way more common than even Chaos Space Marines in the universe but it doesn't have rules at all now that FW killed off the Renegades range

Love to see this, you seem so happy to do it too. What about on a engineer (if you plan to do one) an extra fleshy arm along side the mechanical ones. The flesh is weak, but the warp does enjoy adding extra arms to people, willing or not.

There's actually some pretty good stuff appearing on Pinterest for dark mechanicum. Cawl fused with Venomcrawler. Dunecrawler with some necrons Scorpion thing. Khorne berserkers with skitarii I wonder if you might consider Skaven & their weapons/tools. Fusing cyborg with whatever dark mechanicum would consider perfection in nature would be the go to. Crocodiles are insane creatures, some sharks too. Those Japanese hornets that inject acid. Super predators for the main fighters, hunting specialists for the sneaky, smaller ones that are meant to be more subtle.

I like that glue binder spray you're using. Smells like potpourri.

The chaos sensor from the vehicle upgrade sprew/defiler makes for a great kastalan head.

I'm currently in the process of converting a "demons of the ruinstorm" army. I want to go into a dark mechanicus direction, let's see how it goes.

I think those robots look great, but they need to be a little bit more spikey, and chaotic. Need some human flesh draped off of them and more 8 pointed stars and things to suggest it's from chaos. Though now that I think of it, I bet an Onager Dunecrawler would kitbash well with a Defiler.

I'm working on a crusade force of dark angels(from csm) myself. Includes a suicide shifting fabius bile on bike(apothecary on bike). I've bashed my orks as well to make my warboss on bike and a big mek on bike with SAG(never has landed a shot)

Playing mechanicus and I convert/kitbash half of my units, since most of the admech kits are double duty the more I convert, the more I tend to go to a more Xenarite approach (merging xeno and imperial tech) Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the army !

I'm surprised you didn't try to source some Beastmen for the hooves. Would've made make it so you wouldn't have to sculpt any hoofs, same with some of the T'au armours.

I've found that Necron + DEldar bitz makes for the coolest Dark Mechanicus, maybe you could make a 'count as' Cawl based on the new Szeras model?

I have just one going! I already have large Goff horde, one that I have used since 3rd ed. but i wanted more fancier army, so I did decide to get one! So now i'm building me Goffz 2.0 Every zokkin' model kitbashed or scratchbuilded with lore written to it! So me warboss, Morhgoz Madskull is only known ork warboss who was originally madboy. So he is known as Madboss Morhgoz Madskull. And his boss mek is eccentric mad mek known as Boss Mek Zogoff, who in tabletop uses rules of Goff big mek Buzzgob. And he doesn't belief in vehicles moving by wheels or tracks as those are just "Fingz fer leg bionikz!" So all vehicles and bikes are hovercraft or antigrav... And I'm building skarboyz from AoS savage orcz/orrukZ to get certain Gorkamorka style to the army, as Gorkamorka (with Battlefleet Gothic) is me favourite game ever made by GW... And model of Zogoff is going to have leg bionik of hover unit! Back from 1st ed bionikz...

Does anybody know what he is spraying on his models after he attaches the magnets? I have only magnetized two models before (Scout Sentinel and Leman Russ) and they look good I just didn't use a spray and I am just curious.

Im rebuilding my admech force currently just applied the first coat to belisarius cawl. Im excited to play them with my knights of house lycan in apocalypse

The Sicarians you did reminded me of "Gate of Bone" novel. The Dark Admech guy made a bunch of demon infused servitors that just ripped through people. Here's to hoping sicarians get a little love in the new dex.
