After watching a bunch of tutorials of teaching how to make a shelf in Revit family. Yours is the most helpful. Thank you! Keep the videos coming.

Useful and helpful as always , i would like add few points here the way i made parametric Kitchen cabinets last year are using generic family instead of making by casework and i made seperate parts of whole cabinet like parametric Side panels parametric bottom panel and parametic door in nested families and put them all in main parametric main family and saved all nested family parameters in shared parameters to be able flex all together . The reason for doing like this because once cut the section from anywhere in project we will get proper details to annotate and using separate nested families to get quantities take out ..... anyways thank you .......

Hi Nadeem, thanks for the comment and explanation of your approach. I agree with you, nested families are very useful, we use them in our work too, but they’re not so suitable for beginners. Anyway, principle of creating families is the same :)

Thanks a lot :D but what if you want some of them to host a sink/ oven, have drawers or opening in a different way, it actually takes a huge amount of work to make a proper parametric kitchen cabinet. My coworkers use archicad and I think the cabinet tools on that software are pretty cool.

they are all separate families, so one is kitchen cabinet, other one is countertop, then drawers, upper cabinets, etc, but what is great with Revit is that you could nest them one into the other. For example, for kitchen cabinet you can create different panels and nest it into to core of cabinets and upper cabinets or drawers, which means that you can nest xy number of panels and turn them on/off with visibility paramater for example. It require some time to be made but once it's done properly it works great

Oh I see, yes you are right, I think I've used a kitchen family like that before. This will result in a somewhat heavy family but def doable with some time investment if you also want to add different types of handles. I'd love a tutorial where you explain this method :D

@@tensazangetsu6587 It shouldn't be heavy family, optimizatoin is a key. I will definitely make a tutorial based on this topic :)

Great video, but this is way too fast though :( It's like you're explaining to someone who has had a decade of experience with Revit :/

Hi Khan, thanks for the comment. You’re right, not all of our tutorials are beginner only and for this one will be good if you have some previous Revit knowledge. On the other hand we didn’t speed up things, all main part are explained without anything skipped, so if you’re just starting out just watch it closely and repeat steps I did 😊
