I love the single basin as well. If I occasionally need a separate basin, I just put a Rubbermaid dishpan in the sink or on the counter. This gives me more flexibility for everyday needs. Thank you for doing these videos !!

Love it, Chloe! I bought a Monogram dishwasher and fridge over 15 years ago and they’re still with me! I loved the dishwasher so much that I removed it from our former home and took it with me when we built ten years ago. They have not disappointed. I love all your wood touches and always enjoy seeing your cutting boards ☺️☺️. Would love it if you showed your “feature” items just a tiny bit longer when you cut away to show them...like your fridge/pantry, that last basket with the boards in it, etc. 😉 I always look forward to your videos and appreciate your flair for good design! Your kitchen is just beautiful and you can tell you put a lot of thought into it but yet it looks effortlessly done and not “decorated”. I love that. 👍👍

Divided basin: doesn’t take as long to fill up when you are washing dishes and you will use less water. That’s a huge plus. Plus you can have double duty, washing on one side and rinsing on another.

It limits the size of pan you can wash though. I think the British way of just adding in a plastic wash bin to a large sink is the best way to make a divided sink.

@@namehere4954 The main reason Brits have but one sink is that most wash but never rinse dishes. They wash and let drip dry or wash and wipe dry. Been there but didn’t/couldn’t follow their lead while I lived there. Grossed me out.

@@myballsitchsomethingfierce6319 Yes it sure does. I suspect grime and bacteria stays on as well. Honestly I was shocked but they thought I was a little weird. Few people in the Highlands at the time had dishwashers although young working couples were beginning to be interested. I’d occasionally point out that every electric dishwasher had rinse cycles as standard for a reason. Dishes should be washed then rinsed well!

Thank you! Great info! Will you please post more pics and examples of what you are taliking about. For instance, if you are talking about the stove, show it . If the cabinets, show it slowly. Less focus on you standing there and more visual about the subject, so we can learn and understand more. Thanks again!!!

I am redoing my kitchen and just found this video. It's soooo helpful. I knew nothing about cabinets, etc. and have found it really hard to figure it all out. I love your practical information. Im interested in your feelings about an induction cooktop.

Thank you so much! I would recommend doing your research about induction cooktops, it's really a personal preference. The benefits are the quicker cooking, cooler top, and easy cleanup. The downsides are you need special pans and cooking is a bit different especially if you're used to cooking with gas.

I invested in LaCornue in my last house and hated it. I love to cook and use my oven at least once a day. I could not get used to the LaCornue and would default to my wall oven every time. The only time I used my range oven was for Thanksgiving when I need the extra space. My list of issues with the LaCornue: It takes FOREVER to heat up, once it reaches the temperature you open it to place your food the temperature drops and takes forever to come back up. There is no window on the oven so to check your food you have to open it (again temperature drop) and to see your food you have to look in and for me that meant burning my face and lashes. I LOVED the way that it looked, and the range top worked great but the oven is no go. My Wolf wall oven on the other side of the kitchen from my work triangle was what I used. Good luck!

that pot filler looks like it was installed quite high. I aim for 20”, which is high enough for stock pots but not so high that the flow will splash out

Wow, the ceiling really does look higher than 8 feet. Your kitchen is gorgeous. Just curious, I’ve heard that Lacanche requires quite a few adjustments that can be difficult to get right. How does La Cornue compare in that regard?

Thank you! Truthfully, we didn’t use any of the altitude adapters etc... which could be why it “cooks fast” - we don’t mind it. It cooks nice and evenly, which is what I am most concerned about. So far, no adjustments have been needed, that’s not to say that it could use a tune up if I were to test the temperature, it may be a tiny bit hot.

Sorry so long. Hey Chloe, I’m am building currently. I have a U shaped kitchen. Refrigerator on the left side, sink on center back wall with huge across the wall window and the range on the right side. I will have a small utility island running parallel to the counters. The kitchen footprint is small. We downsized. I am struggling with backsplash. We are staining our cabinets medium time. Counters will be light in tone. Floors are stained concrete medium time. My question: Could I pick two different tile for the backsplash? Meaning the two side walls one color then on the back wall with kitchen sink having a different color. The surface area on the back wall is not very large so I thought a accent wall would look good. That wall will have open shelves on the corners near window. Open concept kitchen to dining and the living room area which has vaulted wood ceiling. Will picking two colors make the kitchen look smaller?

Lately I have been leaning towards skipping recessed lighting and adding small flush mounts like little pieces of jewelry on the kitchen. However recessed lighting is still super popular. Just be sure to put it on a dimmer. :)

love your kitchen! I just buy the same sink! but I am nervous about the care... have you scratched it? do you use one of those satinless steel things at the bottom?

Thank you!! Yes we love this sink! It has scratched, but only due to my lack of caring for it. I didn't realize it was something that I needed to be mindful of. I would suggest one of those metal grates. We have the same one in our laundry room as well, and it hasn't scratched, I've been a bit more careful with it. Overall, very happy with them both!

The sink does not come up as your link may now be outdated. All I know is its Kohler sink. Can you share it again with a new link? And yes it would be nice if you walk around room and share photos of items you are discussing. Seems I only see range pot filler and tile. Video on the pantry. More views of kitchen would be nice!

Hm, not having upper cabinetry doesn't seem particularly functional to me. Open shelves are more difficult to maintain/clean. I love aesthetics, but real functionality even more so.

I have white kitchen cabinets with brushed nickel pulls. I really love the look of antique brass pendants for above my island which is gray cabinetry. Will that look ok? Or should I switch out the pulls to match the antique brass pendants?.. I should mention that my pot filler and faucet are polished chrome. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!!

...life sure is tough when you can spend $10/sqft on your backsplash tile to achieve a "timeless" look that, together with the range, makes your kitchen look straight out of the 1930s - "the struggle is real," huh? lol...
