While I personally prefer a Shaker-style door _(likely would've added trim to the edges for that effect),_ the bones of these kitchen cabinets are definitely too good to discard!
I love seeing all the comments about keeping the wood cabinets. I was looking to update my kitchen and looking at ‘new’ and modern styles. Two people who know construction / remodeling both said - don’t replace these real wood cabinets with crappy manufactured material ones. I am glad I listened. Would like to update the color and pulls but won’t be getting rid of them. Lots of validation here that I made the right choice
I was going to say the same! My parents got a reno done and got mdf cabinets from a home decor type store... they look good right now... but idk about a few years later. 😅 they replaced similar cabinets to what we're seeing in this video.
As someone else mention, I'm really glad you saved those cabinets. Those are custom-made. More than likely solid wood and made in America by union labor. The kitchen looks fantastic! I love it!!
@@mybossisdrunk depends, let's not pretend. If their training was union quality they would join a union or you would leave the union if it doesn't matter. I grew up in the 70s, I know what unions do. Perhaps your friends should join you.
@@angle5520lol this is a really dumb take. You know it’s not 1970 anymore right? Unions don’t do anything better work wise. I know, I work with them every day.
I LOVE THAT FLOOR!! PLEASE post what the product is! I had no idea thats what "Luxury Vinyl" looked like or acted like!! The entire kitchen is just gorgeous, and you are an Angel for doing such a nice deed for your sister♡♡♡
These types of plank flooring is amazing! And so easy to install. I’ve done my living room, dining and daughter’s room on my own. You can find them at Lowe’s and Home Depot. Brand I chose is ProLife.
That's actually well known. Small rooms need light colours, like white, ivory, sand to give the optics of a bigger space. I remember a small bathroom painted in dark blue with brown-beige tiles. Changing the color to white made it look bigger and fresher.
My cabinets are similar and original from 1937. I'm so glad you decided to keep them! Everyone is in a rush to overly modernize things. I'd prefer to appreciate what came before AND has already stood the test of time. ❤😁
Brilliant! You just gave me the confidence I needed to move forward with my 1960 mid century modern kitchen makeover! I'll do exactly what you did, using different pulls that I already bought, and a faux oak vinyl tile! Thank you so much!!!!
@@dela2612 HaHa! Busted!! Actually I thought OP used it correctly, at first. But i looked up the definition, and YOU'RE RIGHT! It means "To RE-USE something originally meant for a different purpose." I think they meant, and I also thought it meant, "to re-use something again, instead of buying a new one." Hope this helps. We both learned something. Maybe OP did, too! 😊👍
That was a major transformation. Beautiful ‼️ when I was younger, I would definitely have tackled something like this because I had a lot of good training from my father who was a builder and I work for a HomeCenter for 15 years. However, I am soon to be 66 and have a lot of back damage among other things, so that, even though I could think about all this, there’s no way I could accomplish it by myself again. Love your videos❣️
You are the BEST sister ever !! What an awesome gift of love from the family ! Your mom is a priming queen ❤ It came out so lovely! I hope she enjoys it for years to come 💕
How kind and thoughtful you are. Your sister is blessed to have such a sweet and loving heart. The remodel is phenomenal. I agree with other comments…saving the cabinets was an excellent idea. Back then, everything was built to withstand anything….including those cabinets. Very doubtful you would ever have been able to purchase anything of that quality. Plus, it would have taken what seemed like forever to take them down…because as well as the material was to build them…so was the workmanship in that era to install them.
My heart is so happy & proud of U! I’m a Daddy’s girl with my own work bench with a lot of power tools…thus the happy heart for U to be so loving to help your Sister. U GO GIRL!!! ❤
Beautiful results from a little sweat equity… I don’t have 30 k to do my kitchen, or bath… so I am open to any,& all budget makeover tips !! Thank you !! ❤ The flooring is stunning !❤
Gorgeous job ladies! For me, there is NO other color for kitchen cabinets than white. It just screams "clean" and feels more cheerful to me than stained or dark painted cabinets. This makeover is fabulous❤️
I’m really enjoying watching renovation videos, my boyfriend is buying a house that needs lots of remodeling and it’s giving us some ideas. The finished result looks beautiful!
