You’re truly an Asian’s delight. I know coming from Asia where all our furniture and other builds are “made” for us, it’s empowering to do it on our own. I love that you took your time and did it just the way you like it. The result is so pretty! ☺️☺️☺️
The same happens here in America, full of different ethnicities. We have furniture made for us too and make it by hand or put it together if we buy it from IKEA. Most of the furniture made for IKEA is already made for us and our choice to hire someone to put it together for us or we can put it together ourselves. It’s not pieces you can design it the we want it to fit our home, we choose a style to fit our home. My husband and I who live in California, have taken the time to put furniture together too. It looks great! All countries have furniture made for everyone. Some people buy’s furniture from other countries they like to have in their home.
@@JMarieCAlove That’s not what I meant. In a lot of countries in Asia, most regular home owners would never use a drill or any kind of kit. Even to install lights or put nails on the walls, we call the respective professionals. Until very recently ikea was not commonplace. Of course we choose furniture to our liking and arrange it likewise, but never went beyond that. Labour is cheap and people prefer to get it done. I just meant knowing how to use tools is empowering, whether you actually want to use it or not. Hope this explanation helps. :)
@@GarfieldinGarden I happen to have seen several videos of people in Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea, buy things from IKEA or a home building supply store, a hardware store, in their area and they have used drills, nails, hammers, hand saws, electric saws, to build shelves, counter tops, tables, bookshelves, put chairs together for their table or desk, following how to build a desk or an extra closet space, Asian people do buy kits. Even young single Asian girls who live on their own, know how to build things on their own with tools, some of them even own their own tool cases. Since most Asian countries have an IKEA and home building supply stores, they learned and teach others how to use tools. You think she is the only person out of all Asian countries, that has picked up a electric saw or drill? No, she’s not. I suggest you watch other videos from Asian countries, type in building a table or desk or using tools, you’ll be shocked! Don’t assume how people are in other countries. You could be wrong… you actually are since you made assumptions about all Asian people.
@@JMarieCAlove I have seen other videos. But what you see on RU-vid are the ones are not majority. Moreover, there are several videos where the people you see might be building their own things from ages, for the lack of assistance. In cities it is quite common to call somebody. And of course I am not talking about all Asians either. That is why I said most, not all. And you’re missing the point, for someone who never used anything build wise before, it is empowering is my whole point. Peace. :)
This made me cry. My late father built most of the furniture in the family home. Watching you made me realise how much thought and love he must have put in the construction and design and overall styling of the home. Guests love our family home. Thank you. You made my day.
A new kitchen and a new milestone for me - making a whole piece of furniture! 🥹 I'm really happy to be able to share the journey with you guys in this new place. For all those asking, often when you rent in Germany, the kitchen doesn't come with the apartment. You have the option to buy one built by the older tenants, or like us, build one on your own. And no, the landlord does not reimburse you. When you move out, you either sell it to the next tenant, or bring the kitchen with you to the next apartment. (We sold our previous kitchen, which is why we started from scratch!) When I first moved to 🇩🇪 this was a strange culture for me, but I actually really like it now because we get to design the kitchen totally to our needs and wants ☺️
hi! your kitchen is lovely! 🥺 can i ask what are roughly the measurements of your kitchen? my boyfriend and i will have to furnish our new home and we also have a L kitchen and it looks similar to yours ^^
I love how this is basically your old apartment but improved and obviously better. It's like we were seeing your creativity in bits and pieces because of the obvious limitations of the other place and now we can see it in its full potential, if that makes any sense!
That coffee nook is truly inspiring, I can't imagine what it's like to build an entire piece of furniture from scratch but you've shown me it's possible. The whole kitchen is stunning and you can tell each piece has been thought out carefully!
I feel like you have found the perfect in between of minimalism and maximalism. It looks perfect! Your style is so beautiful and you have truly shown it in this kitchen. Can’t wait for more!♥️
Loved the island! The open concept kitchen is definitely ideal for an island! We can see that you’re really putting your time and heart and soul in it! End product is just WOW! So beautifully done! We’ll always be here to support your makeovers and other videos and will wait faithfully for your videos to come 🫶🏽
I love your kitchen bc it’s so basic, simple with a warm color. When you did not decorate your kitchen by all expensive stuff making me feel connected to my life. 👍🏽
I loved your old kitchen, but this one is gorgeous. As a Scandinavian, I consider IKEA the mother ship, so I particularly love that. Every aspect is carefully considered, this home is truly loved and it shows.
It's absolutely beautiful! It must feel so satisfying to have accomplished that. The furniture piece, wow. 👌 Truly a kitchen where a person would want to spend time in, so smart.
This was so helpful to watch! My husband and I just bought our first home and are renovating the kitchen with IKEA cabinets. Will probably watch this again as a point of reference.
Amazing work (as usual), Hill 👏🏼😍 I really think the smallest details make the biggest difference here 💕 and you might think it took you more time than expected to finish this project, but most of us can probably never do something like this on our own in this lifetime 😅 so hats off to you! 🫡 Always looking forward to your videos. Hope you’re enjoying your new home ✨
I almost cried watching this. It was so nice and warm to watch. Like it’s so nice to build something from scratch like that truly is so emotionally satisfying.
What to say now!Every time you fix something I say wow is getting better and better and l like them all so much!I loved your previous home but now I understood that I love your creativity and how flexible you become in all spaces! When I read that 1.5 year ago you didn't know even to use a screwdriver I couldn't believed it!Bravooo excellent job both of you!!!
As fellow Asian living in Germany this is such an inspiration. I'm in the middle of looking for new rental and dream of my own cozy space. Your DIY give me a lot of inspirations and coziness as well. Great videos!
I loved your previous kitchen, it had so much cozyness, though it was so little. With this one you are showing the world the growth you're making, and that is so nice! I personally got a feeling of you settling down, with all the mindfullness to your current needs, like a caring parent to your inner child. That's awesome! And I love the coffee table and the knob you chose, it's just perfect match! ❤ Looking forward to see more 🌸
I'm really impressed by the variety of tools you guys have, despite being renters. I'm also happy to see how you keep all the tools nice and clean, and well organized too.
Once again, I'm astonished at how you were able to put together such a beautiful space, with so much warmth, life & personality - in such a short amount if time! ☺
Came across your channel a few days ago and now I have been watching your videos ever since. Such an inspiring journey and it truly makes me wanna build something from the scratch now. Love from Malaysia. ❤
I adore your kitchen. It hits the right mix between the coziness I’d want in most of my house, while still being minimal enough to feel like an empty workspace
This is the most beautiful kitchen I have ever seen! 💗💗 You really inspire me to use more "scary tools" and diy things that don't need to be purchased!
I applaud you for making your first piece of furniture! That’s so cool! I think you really pulled this makeover off again 💖🥹 The shelves are my fave part!
OMG I love it! 🥰 so peaceful and warm the feeling of your beautiful kitchen. I love the process and how you took your time to make your lovely kitchen and the table coffee. 🤩 A huge thank you for sharing your tips and inspiration.
Hi Hill!!! I was looking forward to seeing your kitchen. It looks beautiful and functional, upper cabinets really don't seem to be necessary. Thanks for the tips during the process of assembling the pieces, they make all the difference!!!😍💖✨
Just found your channel! I’m loving it! You are so calming and peaceful! I love that you talk less and have good music! Your ideas of decorating and doing woodwork are great! Love from Canada ❤️ 🇨🇦 I also enjoy your organization videos!
Your videos are always so peaceful. I loved your previous kitchen, and this one is beautiful too. I love that you built a table with a drawer! That's impressive. ❤
Hey Hillary I love your new kitchen, it is superb! I love it so much with the island, that's exactly what I would like to have! And good job for the coffee table, you did a great job. I admire you a lot for your work, I wouldn't know how to use the kind of instrument you handle very well. You can be proud of yourself !
Watching your videos is like a mind relaxing therapy to me.. I eagerly wait for your videos.. Everytime I get a notification I desperately want that to be yours...
Appartments in Germany dont come with a kitchen. Wowww that stayied with me. And when you go ypu take the kitchen with you? Germans wake up and install kitchens before hand. You girl you just create magic. I love your style sooooo much. Now its time to build more furniture. Keep going. Your my fagorite Asian girl. 👏👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪❤❤❤
This is so cool! I love how you can look around the kitchen and see things you made / did all by yourself - all the love and efforts you've put in making it! Truly inspiring ❤
Beautiful kitchen. Incredible that this is IKEA but you added so much personality and it looks so good. You should be an interior designer or stylist. The spaces you create are lovely and calming 😘
I love love your videos! They are so cozy and inspiring all in one! Right now I'm patiently waiting to have my kitchen installed and I also want to wait a couple of weeks after it to start making changes and decorating, so we can get the feel of it and see what we need or don't. We also have a nice pantry so we can skip upper cabinets. If you're 1.53cm you don't really appreciate them 😂 Can't wait to see more of your videos and your journey!
Wow, this kitchen is much larger than the other one! Really happy you got to design it how you wish, it came out beautiful :) And ironically, a lamp I wasn't expecting until tomorrow arrived today while I was watching this! After nearly a year of being in my apartment, I had a paycheck available where I didn't owe a lot of bills for once and jumped on the chance to finally buy furnitire (nice to now how somewhere other to sit rather than just my bed or at my desk). I thrifted my dining room table set, which maybe due to the cosmetic damages, it was being sold for at least $500 less than it should've. Just built my couch two days ago, all to have to rearrange the whole room last night. But the TV stand can take a long walk off a short cliff 😂 With no power tools and having to redo parts all over again when I got something wrong, I went to bed and woke up still with an aching hand and elbow. Good thing it was Sunday, I otherwise probably would've called put of work from being in pain. It finally subsided a few hours later. I love what it looks like but building it was just awful. That Sunday, I went and bought a power screwdriver. I wonder if building uoir own furniture would be easier than building pre-fabricated furniture, lol.
rentals in germany are crazy. You have to pay rent AND buy all of the necessary furniture for the flat. What you pay for are basically just the bare walls, the floor and the ceiling.
Ja und? Besser als mit Sachen wohnen die man Scheiße findet. Wenn man möbliert mietet hat jemand das vielleicht mit den günstigsten Dingen eingerichtet und der Mieter zahlt es ab...
Your kitchen is amazing, it's so beautiful! I love all the creativity and thought you put into each decision. My favourite has to be the plates in the drawers, and no upper cabinets. I'm short too and this would be a dream in my kitchen. I'm so inspired! You've both done an incredible job!
Maravillada con el resultado de tu cocina. Cada video tuyo es un instante de paz y tranquilidad y realmente los disfruto, los felicito desde Argentina, cariños a los dos 👋🌺🌸🌺🌸🌺🌸
As always the result was incredible🤩❤️. It was worth taking the months you needed. You have given me many ideas because I'm a few weeks away from moving into my new house. Greetings from Panama🙅🏽♀️🇵🇦
Congrats on making such a great table / coffee corner! And what a dream kitchen!! So pretty and functional, you are giving me so many ideas to dream of
You are such a talent in your home. You do a wonderful job. I would like to make a suggestion to use the command hooks to hang your picture instead of putting a nail in the wall. To save time later if you want to move the picture or when you move from the apartment.
The kitchen was so pretty! And cozy! And very practical as well, I loved what you did to ittt! It's so niceee. I also want to have the courage to start doing DIY stuffs for my room someday, thank you for the inspiration
Terrific. I too hate upper shelves. Not a fan of cabinets in general. Short & getting old. They are just too much trouble! 😂. Also in Germany, but restoring our farmhouse in Czech. You are a wonderful inspiration to this older lady! 💗 I just have to reclaim my tools back from my old school husband. 😉
Wow! The kitchen turned out really beautiful! Take your time, I think building a kitchen is a process :) Respect for building a table from scratch! It's really pretty 😍
Commenting before watching because I know this video will be an absolute gem !! The kitchen was my fave in your other appartment so I'm very excited to watch 🥰
