Kitchen Rental Makeover in ONLY 24 hours!!

Such a lovely and simple renovation! Love everything you did. I think adding legs to the cubby storage will be great. Maybe extend the fake tiles behind it as well so it draws your eye down the space and makes it feel longer and more cohesive? If you can paint the cabinets i definitely would!! A white would make the space feel so fresh but a pop of color would also be lovely. You could do a nice two tone and do that one upper cabinet white to open the space and do the bottom cabinets a color. Im sure whatever you do will be gorgeous. ♡

I never had a landlord that would even let me paint. So glad I'm fortunate enough to have bought my own house. I've gone a little design crazy, my bathroom has a black ceiling and my dining room is dark mallard green. So lovely to be out of the rented white box look. ❤️

A tip for silicone: you can use water + liquid soap mixed in a dish/cup - dip your fingers in it before you go over the silicone with your hand. It makes the silicone a little bit more managable. There is also a tool that can be used to get it to perfect shape - usually hardware stores sell it. Using gloves is always a must for me - it gets under my fingernails and it drives me insane :D

I love the contrast between the bathroom renovation taking 2 years versus the kitchen taking 24 hours lol.

Very excited for a part 2 🥰 Peel and stick on the countertops and cabinets as well as some new handles on the cabinets would look lush!

i thought the apartment was your grandmothers...? turned out very pretty. i agree about the cube storage legs will make it more functional giving a lot more counter space if and when you do that i would put tiles behind it to carry them on from the sink.

Great job Hermione, I'm confused I thought you were living at your Nan's flat so when you said you were renting I got confused. I like how nice the kitchen looks. Go for it if you want to paint the cabinets and you want to do something about the counter tops. I'm sure whatever you come up with it will be lovely. I love how no matter what you always have plants it gives life to the rooms. I wish we had wide windowsills in the states to put plants on.

How about adding legs to cube unit to bring it up to counter height. It might extend the work surface and make the look unified.

Wow, the kitchen looks amazing, a cabinet up do would be great to see. I live rent free in my house which is owned by my mom. She wants me to get rid of the old pantry to make more space but I use it. Mom talks about the tiles being old fashioned but they have fruits on them so don't mind them too much because there is an odd fruity one here and there. I have a visual impairment so all the walls barring the kitchen are painted in Natural Calico and the kitchen is Vanilla Ice Cream which has a touch of yellow in it which makes it feel warm yet bright (there was horrible sticky orange flocked wallpaper in there before). I would like to do something with the kitchen because I hate the cabinets. Thanks for the tip about silicon because I have realised that there isnt any round my sink.

Your grandmother is so blessed having you be the one renting her flat. The place is looking so modern and fresh. For me, I wouldn't have the chairs in the kitchen. There is so little space there, I think the bench behind the table would be enough to sit and have a cup of coffee. I always love when you post a video. The cabinets 100% need a lift. Maybe white or a fun light color. Maybe you can experiment with contact paper to keep with the theme of renter friendly.

Looks so much better,the only thing I'd do is either paint or cover the orange/yellow wooden cabinet doors with a walnut or black paint/sticky covering.

I really like the contrast of the white and the wood cabinets and butcher block. I see what you mean about the work tops but what you did already really lightened it up a lot. I think it looks beautiful. I think it will come together when you put the legs on the shelf on the end of the counter. A larger rug with a bold pattern in grey and white and a bit more art on the walls, maybe a mirror over the sink? Hanging plants in the window.

So far, the changes you have made are great. If you have more ideas up your sleeve, I look forward to seeing you work your magic! So many people rent, so these ideas are always welcome. I only wish those peel and stick tiles had been around when I was renting.

really great. i actually don't even mind the size. to the right of the sink i'd probably add a hanging plant though, as the light is perfect.

What a difference a little paint and the new tiles make!😊 When you revealed the space the color of the cabinetts stood out to me, too. So I would be really interested to see what you're doing with them in a part two!

Nice job looks great. Just a suggestion make life easier when you're painting or putting on faux tile, get a screwdriver and remove the outlet cover and paint closer in then replace the cover

The tile you called Shrek looks like a green Donald Trump. If you want that wall more even "tile" piece of wood on each side that are flush-ish to the black tile then cover with cardboard, cut out the spot for that plug and put the stick tile on the cardboard

At first I thought you were painted the walls a lavender color because of the lighting ^^

I really like it, but I would cover the cupboards with wallpaper or silver sticky film.

Great job, I would've also covered the cabinet doors with some sort of contact paper.

I would get some wooden board with a lip to put over the steel shelves. Renter friendly as you can just remove them after :)

Hack 2 lines of tape top and bottom sealing inbetween wipe across with finger then take the two peice of tape off no messy sealer.👌🏼

I think a light wood style of contact paper for the stainless steel open shelves would be so pretty! As well as the peel and stick tiles going all the way under them. None the less, great job!

Love all the choices here ! One simple nice one could also be to change those open metal shelving. Could you not get some wood cut to the same size, and slide it in the metal brackets? and paint the brackets black too?

Omg I clicked on this video because I thought “wow I love that blue color she’s putting on the walls” but it was just that fresh white against yellow 😂 I still love the finished product!

It looks cleaner, fresher and brighter :) I would have asked your grandmother if you could have popped off those old tiles so the new sheet of subway tile would have laid flat! I also would have filled that hole near the counter top.................it just would have been more polished in the end, but overall for a 24 hour job, huge difference.

What a difference! Freshening up the paint & using the stick tiles really made it less hectic on the eye. One thing I learned to do in small spaces is to use vertical space. Noticed your fruit bowl on the counter. They make hanging baskets or fruit hammocks that can hang from your shelves. Instead of storing things in what little counter space you have to food prep, use vertical space! :)
