I am so glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read the title; "Clean Your Holes!" I'd also suspect that the dust/debris under your cabinets is the result of activities in the kitchen, & less so from the makeup air from underneath. Thank you for this "How it's been Working" update. Would love to see more content like this.

I build a hood for our house 26 years ago with the same grease traps. Don't have the silencer but wish i did, not sure it was available back then or i just didn't know about it. Way better than the standard hood fans of the day with 4" ducts.

kitchen fume extraction deserve a longer video... for example: what is the ideal fume extraction in a passive house where everything should be air tight? How the ERV deal with the kitchen fumes?

NO ERV can deal with cooking fumes, even in a passive home. Search ‘kitchen’ on our channel, you’ll find plenty of long vids about it.

The effectiveness of hood grease traps will vary greatly. Some are just coarse stainless mesh “filters” 😂

Thank you for your video! Very useful. I’m planing to have a makeup air system in my new home but struggling about where should I put the register. Plan to put them in the ceiling near the duct cover of the hood or in the floor like yours. My concern is the moisture in the duct during summer time. The makeup air duct will be cool/cold in the room but when the moisture air coming in it may form water condensation inside the duct which is a good environment for mold. And also how do you clean the duct?

I'm curious about your under-cabinet makeup air returns. Why didn't you pipe the air right to the front of the toe-kick instead of placing the grill at floor level under the cabinet? I would think keeping the air separated from the dirt and dust under the cabinets would be even more beneficial.

It’s finished flooring, finished cabinet undersides. Clean as it gets.
