Before embarking on the grease replacement project, I watched many youtube videos. These videos from Mr. Mixer are by far the best I found. I followed them step-by-step and the all event was painless. Thanks.

You just saved me $500. My mixer (20 yrs old) quit working. I was ready to throw it out and buy a new one. I saw your videos, so my husband and I took a chance to repair ourselves. The gear worm was destroyed!! We replaced it, cleaned out old grease and applied new grease. Now it works perfectly. Your instructions were clear and concise, right down to if parts potentially did not go back together easily. Thank you

I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU for a very detailed and informative series! As you can see, I made it to Part 3, I didn't have any spare parts left in the end, which is always a good thing, and I hope to get another 10 years out of my KA mixer. For $10 can of grease and a couple of hrs of invested time, I feel it was an afternoon well spent.

Thank you soooo much for those 3 videos which make me feel a bit like a real handywoman! One of the gears came out of its housing, so my robot wasn't working anymore, but I ofc didn't know what was the problem before seeing it, meaning that I had to open it to find out what was going wrong... then I saw this black grease, as my KitchenAid is already 15 years old, and I decided, as anyway it was already dismantle, to replace it with a brand new grease... so I followed all your steps, also changed another gear - the plastic one - which was a bit worn and, miracle, it's working again, like a brand new one!

My best friend gave me her 30 year old Ultra when her daughter gave her a new Artisan for Christmas last year. It had never been re-greased. Started Friday night and finished last late Sunday afternoon. I had a heck of a time getting the pin out of the planetary, and had a harder time getting it back in. Your content is right on the money. Thank you!

Awesome set of videos! We were getting some oil dripping on our 24 year old mixer (never been serviced). I watched your videos and was able to get everything done. My only adventure was putting the planetary back on the vertical shaft would go into the unit too far and I was unable to align the pin. I finally got a paper clip in and pulled the shaft down until I could get a small punch in to pry it downward until I could get the pin in. Of course I messed up the speed control but I followed you other video to get it back in line. You are great!

I love your detailed description on how to fix this. You don’t assume everybody has a fix-it mind. I think the only thing I would add is something my father taught me. When, taking something apart, lay it down in the order you took it off. That way, you only reverse your order for reassembly. That helped me a lot as a child learning to keep my bicycle clean and greased.

Thank you for this excellent tutorial! In addition to grease and gasket, I bought a worm gear to install since my Classic was purchased in 1994, I would ready. To my surprise, I found a metal gear with no wear! It's a keeper! I never had thoughts of changing the grease, but recently I used a hub attachment for the first time ever and started making bread, and my machine was struggling a little. One of the reasons could be that I was not paying attention to speed with the dough hook(speed 2 only!) or the meat grinder attachment. Ergo...another plus for reading directions!

I just finished replacing the worm gear, re-greasing, and tuning the speed control (yes, on Christmas Day, I have my priorities straight.) Thanks for your videos, I watched them through before attempting the repairs, and queued them up to watch again during the repair. The reassembly was not exactly smooth because one of the fiber washers slipped out of position as I was putting everything back together, but I managed to go backwards step by step until I found the problem. RECOMMENDATION: wear disposable gloves, and have a back up pair or two. If you are smearing grease on gears and find that you need to pick up a screwdriver or move something, you can pull the gloves off and have instant clean hands.

Thank you so much for helping me fix my mixer! Your instructions were easy to follow & you kept it lighthearted too. I bought my mixer 2 years ago but not able to use it until now & when it wouldn’t turn I was perplexed since It was brand “new” but no longer under warranty. I thought the gears were possibly stuck from lack of use so thought I’d try fixing it myself before spending more $$ to replace it. For never being used it sure had a lot of gross grease piled in it. I didn’t realize until this last step that I needed food grade grease (thanks to Amazon I got some the next day). Following your step by step instructions and with the right tools it now works like a charm. Thanks again!

Thank you for your time and effort in this very informative series. I spotted a sad K45SS sitting in a pile of large items during large item trash pickup in my neighborhood! It still works just sounds like metal on metal. Gonna re grease and hope for the best. Now that I know what to look for as far as replacing parts and even where to get them, I'm now more confident than ever to be able to gift it to my wife! She's been wanting one for a long time now! Thank you! I'll keep you posted on the project!

Thanks for clear instructions on how to repair leaking oil. My initial fear was mixer was broke beyond repair. I felt like small town fixit shop. Your instructions removed any fear on tackling this repair. The cleaning was long part only because I cleaned every bit of old grease. After greasing and reassembly the mixer works like new.

Great video! Never re-greased our mixer before, it was starting to give off an odour while it was running so I figured it was time... I found a few wishy washy videos of other people doing it and then I found yours and thought 'Hey, this guy looks like he actually knows what he's talking about'! They were entertaining to watch and walked through the entire process and gave some helpful advice along the way. I found a broken tooth on the worm gear so I replaced that while I had it all apart. All in all it went pretty smooth, I should have made a video of me re-greasing it while watching your video. LOL

I made it! The slow clap is appreciated 😂 I’m going tomorrow to try and find some food grade grease because I pulled my whole machine apart without realizing I shouldn’t just use my general purpose grease... oops. Thanks so much for making these videos!! Truly the only actually helpful info online I could find!

You are very welcome! Yes the info on these machines is hard to come by and very spaced out, have to check ten sources to get one answer. I brought it all to one centralized source 😊

Great series of videos, very detailed. I'm going to do this regrease to my KA Artisan mixer from about year 2000. Never been done before!

Your videos are amazing. Really detailed and the corny humour sprinkled in is perfect. I would just comment that you could add something in your video comments regarding the extra washer that older models have. This extra third washer is part of the replacement set you sell. I noticed mine by chance as it was well stuck to the mixer. I thought I'd noted it's location but had horrible grinding when it all went back together. A quick email to you clarified its proper location. The mixer is like new and heading to my nephew as I've moved to a heavier duty bowl lift model. Will tackle regreasing that one next (it is a few years old). Your spare parts were shipped quickly and I was really happy with the whole experience. Thanks again.
