Don't be too jealous - a lot of vendors at Canadian "farmers" markets actually just resell the same produce as the grocery stores (i.e. not stuff they grew themselves). CBC did a big expose on the issue a few years back. For the specific market in this video (I live in that city) I've even heard of some vendors stocking up on sales literally from the grocery store, then marking it up and selling it at the market. If you want fresh local produce, try finding some farms nearby. I've found that if you drive through the country you'll often see farms with signs on the road advertising their produce (think roadside corn, but not just corn). I'm sure you can find them online though, these days, instead of driving aimlessly through the country.
