Embark on a thrilling kiteboarding journey with us as we explore the windy haven of Taiba, renowned for its flat water lagoons and consistent winds, making it the ultimate progression spot for kiteboarders. In this video, we share our unforgettable experiences in this freestyle heaven, where enthusiasts, including my father, learned to kite independently.
Taiba boasts four distinct lagoons, each offering a unique kiteboarding experience. From the saltwater lagoon to the main lagoon where pros showcase unhooked tricks, and the smaller yet less crowded second lagoon, to the spacious fourth lagoon, lovingly dubbed "donkey shit lagoon," perfect for beginners despite occasional gusts and, well, unexpected animal encounters.
Our days in Taiba were a perfect blend of freestyle and looping sessions, with a mix of big kite weather and focused work on boardoffs and rotations. On one particularly windy day, I had the pleasure of meeting the talented 13-year-old kiteboarder, @Flyfinni, showcasing his incredible skills in boogie late rotations, contra boardoffs, and backroll kite boardoffs - a true rising star in the freestyle scene.
Among the talented riders sharing the wind and waves were Ben Beholz, a famous vlogger from Germany, and his skilled girlfriend Pascale, throwing down impressive moves. My friend Tony Delgelman amazed us with his freestyle progression, leaving our jaws dropping with each successfully landed trick, including mind-blowing mobes.
However, the most spectacular moments were witnessing the dynamic and coordinated skills of Australian freestyle champion Leo Verreccia. Seeing him in action was a different experience altogether, a reminder to keep that in mind as you watch the video - his prowess is truly remarkable.
