Thank you so much for joining me in this first scary experiment with vlogging. As you may have noticed it took me a very long (a very very long) time to post this after filming in mid-December. I had a bad health month, which played a big part in the delay, but I was also struggling with whether or not posting this was something that made sense given the broader context(s) of what is going on in the world right now. In some ways, I’m still not entirely comfortable with starting this vlogging journey right now, but knitting provides a space of much needed calm and comfort for me and I think that comfort (and joy) is always worth sharing, even if there’s a lot of sadness that we need to acknowledge (and act against) in the world too.

You and your podcast are a delight! Your self-designed sweater episode popped up on my feed and I liked it so much, I am going back and starting from the beginning. You're doing a great tech job too. Welcome to this warm supportive international online community of knitters. Wishing you good health whenever possible and I admire your openness and grit about dealing with the challenges when they erupt. I live on the west coast (Oregon) of the US and have been knitting for 50 years (!); there is always more to learn and try....that's one of the things I love about it. I'm looking forward to seeing your two WIPS from this episode completed....you are a beautiful knitter.

You’re a natural! I’m just looping back from the future to the beginning episodes and it’s so fun. Thank you for sharing your odd storage. I JUST bought a lovely, hand-thrown lidded casserole at a charity shop at tee a bit of “I don’t need this” / “I must have this” waffling and I had decided that it will live on my coffee table with my current WIP in it. I’m glad I’m not alone. 😂

Wonderful first episode! Katt Weaver here on youtube has some yoga for hand knitters videos that I also watch from time to time. I also like to watch other two new podcasters also here on youtube. The shoggly stitch and pinned to the wind knits they are both from Scotland and also Amy from The meaningful Stitch. Ball winders are just way easier to use, KnitPicks always has good sales going on. I am so glad that you took the plunge and entered the world into the youtube and the internet overall. I have podcast on here as well, I just share my knitting and spinning and occasional yarn dyeing. Your sweater turned out beautiful. I just learned how to catch my floats in colorwork after knitting for about 20 years and I just swatched for the first time three days ago, that’s what I love about knitting is that you are always, always learning something new that just ignites that creativity spark with in us all. Nice to meet you, have a good day/ evening! I totally subscribed 😊

Nice to meet you too! Thank you for sharing these amazing resources and for giving me such a warm welcome. I've never done any yarn dyeing but am very interested in it. I will definitely go check out your videos! I'm also going to check out Katt Weaver later today and have added your other recommendations to my watch later list. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to point me in those directions. I agree that the continual learning curve (and one that we can slow down or speed up as needed/desired) is one of the best things about knitting. Have a great rest of your day too ☺

Hello Genevieve, I think I heard you question whether or not there was a place for your podcast on the internet. Just as we have room in our hearts for all kinds of friends, there is a spot in the knitting community on the internet for your content 😊. I only have four episodes of my own podcast out there and each one is a struggle. However, it’s part of the pleasure of being part of the knitting world. P.s. you forgot to mention how Canadians measure distance in the amount of time it takes to drive there. 😂❤

Valerie, your comment has put a smile on my face. I agree completely, even if it's a bit hard to make what I know match up with what I feel. I’ve just watched the first of your podcasts and it’s so much fun to find another knitting-Canadian in the UK (and on RU-vid)! You’re right I completely forgot to mention hours as distance-a primary Canadian measurement for sure! 🤣😊

Is it so bad to be a social media lurker? I may unwittingly been guilty of such an offense. We all know the internet is forever. Anyway, welcome! I love the histories of knitting and textiles too. My ancestors are Irish and Scottish…I imagine that their knits were precious to them. I too generally only do non super wash. I dislike the processing that the wool undergoes to become super wash, and I find that it doesn’t keep me warm. Your knits are beautiful!😁

I'm so glad I'm not alone in being a bit of a social media lurker! And you're right about the internet being forever. I guess I should frame my own impetus as looking for connection, which I definitely feel from your comment so thank you for venturing into the forever-internet with me 😊 It's amazing the way knitting can connect us to the past, isn't it? So many reasons to love unprocessed wool!
