What Michael says while they're driving; describing the difference between the car that was KITT's body and how it is replaceable. KITT itself is not replaceable. He is unique. One of a kind. It's a wonderful scene and shows how much more Michael appreciates KITT. And it was Michael who had to point out this fact to KITT, that KITT is more than just the sum of his parts. He is more than a dashing looking car.

Funny how far they've both come in the relationship since the first time they met, Michael wouldn't even acknowledge that fact that KITT was an individual let alone think of him as a friend and partner. And Im sure KITT thought Michael was just a silly illogical human who thought that he was better than him because he was a man and he was a machine

FUN FACT: that portable TV KITT shows up in the tv movie Knight Rider 2000 it is one of the scenes at the hospital when I think either Devon or Shawn is getting probed. the tv is sitting on top of a medical machine you can still make out the screen and the 'voice box' indicator to the right.

Now i can imagine that this "tv set" is long gone and trashed, but i think you're still going to look for it? Although it was only one episode, it would be fun to see it rebuild again. That can easy be done by using modern technology like a Raspberry Pi.

This doesn't feel wrong, as such. Knowing what I khow about industrial robots, I'd like to think KITT could be a mainframe somewhere with a smaller processor in the car that was dedicated to controlling the car, but suggested to by KITT the mainframe. I think the current buzzword is "Edge AI" where you have a series of simpler and more specialised AI on the periphery, orchestrated by a more generalised system. Of course, this is just my preferred flavour of nerdiness, and how the actual KITT was written is clearly different to how I'd design him if I had the chance.
